After 25 years, Beetlejuice is getting close to its big screen return. According to the trades, Tim Burton is in early talks to direct Beetlejuice 2. However, don't expect it to be his next movie -- that would be Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children after he's done with Big Eyes.
Given that Burton is not big on sequels and hasn't even taken a look at the latest draft of the script, don't pencil him in just yet, but this early talks business must mean he's at least interested.
Michael Keaton is expected to return to play Beetlejuice and is currently in talks as well, according to Variety.
One problem with the Beetlejuice sequel is that it's not exactly high on anyone's list, and coming more than 25 years later, any nostalgia factor has been diluted by the passage of time.
If the movie does happen, the earliest we can see it will be in 2015.
I still have no hopes for this and no desire anymore.
