MIAMI (AP) - A sheriff's SWAT team has stormed a check-cashing store in South Florida where three people were shot and critically wounded.
The incident in unincorporated Broward County near Fort Lauderdale was reported as a robbery around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday
Broward County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright says when deputies went inside they found a female clerk who had been shot. A male suspect who had been shot was outside. Another man who had been shot was across the street. It's unclear if he's a suspect.
Officials initially thought the clerk was being held hostage, and they waited until it was safe before going in.
Coleman-Wright says she's heard of no connection between the shootings and the fugitive siblings on the run following a series of crimes in Florida and Georgia.
