Next month's UFC on Fox fight card is filling out, with the addition of three bouts that have been verbally agreed to for the event, UFC president Dana White confirmed today.
Exciting featherweight contenders Mackens Semerzier and Robert Peralta are set to scrap in Anaheim. Semerzier was scheduled to fight Mike Lullo in September, but a last-minute injury sidelined him, and he was replaced by Peralta, who made his successful UFC debut on short notice.
Two of the most powerful wrestlers in the middleweight division will collide in Anaheim as Paul "The Gentleman" Bradley takes on Mike Pierce.
Plus, UFC newcomer Matt Lucas and former heavyweight Aaron Rosa will look to make names for themselves at 205 pounds.
Semerzier hasn't seen action since choking out Alex Caceres back in March and will now return against the man who replaced him at the Battle on the Bayou event. Peralta made his UFC debut that night and looked great in the first round against Mike Lullo, picking up where Edson Barboza left off and employing some brutal leg kicks. The Pierce-Bradley bout is interesting if only for the fact that Pierce is moving up to middleweight despite some strong performances at welterweight (where he even seemed undersized if anything), despite his recent loss to Johny Hendricks, so the jump up in weight class is a bit puzzling, unless he's been having weight cut issues. Anyhow, this is also a rematch, with Pierce having won a decision over Bradley back in 2009 at a regional show. Bradley had amassed a solid record before the UFC came calling to fill it on short notice, whereupon he lost a decision to Rafael Natal, although that performance could certainly be attributed to his lack of training time.
Rosa is being given the spot on this card after getting yanked from last weekend's UFC on Versus 6 show when his opponent, Fabio Maldonado, pulled out due to injury. Now fighting at his more natural weight of 205 lbs and with a full training camp, Rosa will hopefully look better than he did in his UFC debut, a TKO loss to Joey Beltran. Lucas is a product of Arizona Combat Sports and has mainly competed for the Rage in the Cage promotion in Arizona. His most notable career achievement is probably his donation to Giva Santana's arm collection, given that his current five fight winning streaks comes against opponents with records of 5-6 (twice), 8-6, 2-3, and 1-1.
