I took basic Gracie jiu-jitsu at a local gym here for a month and enjoyed it. Even the guys taking belt classes all love Cesar Gracie and the whole she-bang.
Royce Gracie won the first 2 UFC tournaments before there were weight classes and any rules. He broke some arms and legs and was the ultimate badass, gi and all. Fighting with a gi in MMA isn't very practical.
Renzo Gracie was pretty awesome in Pride. He's 40 and looks 30.
Now, in the last 2 years the Gracies have looked outmatched and have been manhandled. Remember Matt Hughes destroyed Royce in the first round and almost broke his elbow. Cesar was ko'd in 21 seconds by Frank Shamrock and Renzo was out after an illegal knee but he didn't do much. He controlled the ground game but when he and Shamrock were stood up, Frank punched at will.
So, they can teach BJJ but can they fight?
