Neither should the insistence on breeding them, yet people continue to do so.
I've seen people breed kittens, fail to sell them then proceed to release them into the neighborhood. I suppose homelessness is a far more humane act then allowing them to live in an insect infested home.
Great topic but I wonder whether the issue of this video is the cat or the cat lovers who abandoned and left them to fend for themselves.
I don't doubt there are willing takers. Often times, buyer's remorse sets in or the buyer has a partner who later objects to the purchase. The cat owners, 100%. Put enough effort in and you'll find someone willing to adopt or a shelter.
The house was owned by a landlord which means the renter was the one to let this go on but there is NO WAY that the landlord had no idea what kind of crap hole the person left the house in. The renter and the landlord both should be charged for this.

Prison time sounds fine with me. The Michael Vick situation was unfortunate yet it taught him respect with regard to animal life.
Cats are literally no trouble at all whatsoever, unless it's owner is mentally unwell and has trouble functioning in society. That underlies a bigger psychological problem and ought to be addressed professionally.
I bluntly oppose hunting for sport so that slightly colors my viewpoint.
Nothing more to add. Well stated. We have laws in Ohio now that fullt protect animals and hoarders will face criminal charges. Most hoarders do have an underlining issue mentally but they shouldn't be completely excused. They should be forced to seek help just like alcoholics are forced by law in many cases to go to AA meetings.
Vick... That whole story, I was disgusted with it. But he seemingly realized that animals are more than just fur and bones and he destroyed the lives of many of them. As for hunting, the only time I think it is okay is for food or if a population is getting out of control to the point it is directly endangering us or other animals. There is no reason to hunt for fun. It is sick.
