That 98 KOTR was the start of it becoming downgraded to a B-show despite that Cell match and Austin-Kane.

Gunn was 99. Shamrock won in 98 and it was treated as a mid-card side show. Also, I was talking more in how the show was structured, with the KOTR taking a back seat, and also there being too much filler for a A-show. Kurt and Edge's wins got lost in the shuffle not so much Block's.

Wasn't like Austin and triple H were shot to the mainevent after they won the King of The Ring.

Owen Hart and Mabel were the only ones to get straight to title contention after winning this.

Also, Taker/Farooq was the mainevent the year before and Bulldog/HBK was the year before that and Mabel didn't mainevent either.
