Zuffa, LLC, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship®, released a statement today regarding UFC® light heavyweight Thiago Silva:

“Thiago Silva tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout at UFC on FUEL TV in Macau. The UFC organization has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance-enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents. Silva has admitted to taking the banned substance and has agreed to participate in an approved drug-rehabilitation program and serve a six-month suspension retroactive to the November 10 event. He must pass a drug test upon completion of the suspension before receiving clearance to fight again.â€￾

Atleast it wasn't PEDs. Still a dumb move on his part. Also to note, this is the second fighter that has failed a drug test for marijuana and agreed to enter Rehab in the last few months. Dave Herman was the first.

Good possibility he'll be cut now. He's a decent fighter, never going to be a Champion but he's good as a gatekeeper thesedays. Though that said being suspended for marijuana is just Blue.

Dang as soon as he gets back and gets a fight under his belt he is suspended again. At one time he was being highly touted until Machida knocked him out in that final minute of their fight. But Silva needs to get his stuff back in order.

Not the best fighter in the division but he does bring it each fight and that is always good to watch.

When he failed after the Vera fight it was said that he injected horse piss into his bladder through a catheter down his uretha. If he didn't get cut for that crazy shit, I really doubt he'll get binned for weed.

It is just weed, what a dumb rule and who the fuck needs rehab for marijuana?

Him and the Diaz bros should only fight in Colorado and Washington state.

Even if it is "just weed" it is a banned substance when fighting for UFC. How dumb are these fighters that they continue to use drugs that aren't allowed by UFC, they can't be shocked when they are suspended for using it. If they want to use that stuff and still fight they should find a company that allows them to fight whilst under the influence.

Wouldn't surprise me if he is released since this is his second suspension in a row, although might get one more chance since he is going through rehab. I assume that if he rejected rehab he would have been fired.
