In January 2014, Thiago Silva threatened to shoot 25 people inside the Pablo Popovitch Brazilian Jiu Jitsu center while intoxicated, the 25 people included his estranged wife Thaysa who is in a relationship with the owner Pablo Popovitch. The win not only gained Silva an incarceration, but his UFC release as well.

Months later, Thiago Silva is looking past that troubled night and will be looking to step back into a cage come August 29th as he has been booked to fight in a local Florida promotion on August 29th. The fight is scheduled to take place at the War Memorial Auditorium if Fort Lauderdale, yet no opponent has been announced for the event.

Thiago Silva made his UFC debut back in 2007 undefeated against James Irvin and racked up four straight wins (including a win over Houston Alexander) before being knocked out by Lyoto Machida in 2009. After knocking out Keith Jardine, Silva entered a slew of personal trouble outside the octagon which led him to having a UFC record of 2-2 with 2 no contests over the next 4 years.

His wins came in his final year with the company which were a knockout win over Rafael Cavalcante which earned him fight of the night and knockout of the night honors, and a dominating unanimous decision win over Matt Hammill. His losses were decisions to Rashad Evans at UFC 108 and Alexander Gustafsson in the UFC's debut in Sweden in April 2012.

He originally defeated Brandon Vera by unanimous decision and Stanislav Nedkov by submission via Arm Triangle Choke but the results were overturned to no contests when Silva handed over a falsified urine sample for the Vera fight and tested positive for marijuana sin the Nedkov fight.

He was released from the UFC when the news broke out about his legal troubles.

I never want to see this guy fight again, he's a piece of shit.. straight up.

He's definitely up there with MMA's most unstable fighters.

It's unfortunate because I always loved to see the guy fight and thought he actually could have been a contender at one point, but after the failed drug tests and missing weight and everything he got derailed and then this happened and he basically threw his career away.
