We all know the story, Chris Kreski was the head writer from November of 1999-November of 2000, he used the same exact Russo formula & format while continuing Russo’s story & character universe but with more emphasis on story and less in ring focus with storyboards to keep track of the stories and characters.

Now by July of 2000 the Triple H/Stephanie on screen relationship had no where further to go.

The Stephanie character sided with Triple H to betray her dad Mr.McMahon and gain corporate power, while the Triple H character married to bosses daughter to gain power and retain the WWF title.

At Wrestlemania 2000 Stephanie reunited with her dad, then at King of the ring her dad cost Triple H the title and took him out of the title picture and power with Mick Foley his arch enemy becoming the Comissioner with McMahon going away.

There was no point as they had no use for each other, Stephanie had the power due to her dad while Triple H was out of the title picture because of it.

Now in December of 1999 Chris Kreski storyboarded a relationship brewing between Stephanie & Kurt Angle that got heated up in the summer of 2000 with Triple H then feuding with Kurt Angle.

In the story they made it clear that she wanted Angle over Triple H and cheated on Triple H with Kurt Angle when she and Kurt Angle disappeared after Summerslam 2000. The Rock vs Triple H/Kurt Angle/Stephanie McMahon love triangle was the hottest storyline of the summer and 2nd hottest storyline after Rock vs McMahon-Helmsley regime from earlier in the year

At the same time Chyna and Eddie Guerrero were breaking up over the intercontinental championship and Eddie’s jealousy of Triple H and Chyna & her playboy shoot. With both stories intertwining, with Eddie catching Chyna with Triple H and getting hoseg

At Unforgiven 2000 Kurt Angle was to beat Triple H with Stephanie betraying Triple H for Kurt Angle, then Kurt dating Stephanie would feud with Triple H and then win the WWF title from Rock at No Mercy 2000.

While the next night Chyna & Eddie would break up with Eddie cheating on Chyna.

It was clear that Triple H and Chyna were going to be reunited on screen, while Kurt and Stephanie became an on screen couple.

Instead that storyline was denied by Triple H for not being “believable” despite the onscreen chemistry between Stephanie and Kurt being better than Triple H & Stephanie.

Chris Kreski was then demoted in creative team and Stephanie McMahon became head of creative in November of 2000.

That same month Triple H turned heel, while Chyna was demoted to women’s division despite there being no problem with the guys wrestling and doing jobs for her.

It is therefore by the evidence my theory that Triple H and Stephanie who were having an affair behind Chyna’s back as Triple H & Chyna were a couple in real life. Politicized against Chris Kreski and demoted him because he was going to end Triple H and Stephanie’s on screen relationship and likely reunite Triple H and Chyna on screen.

Triple H and Stephanie on screen relationship ran its course and didn’t do anything significant afterward other than Austin stunning Stephanie in February of 2001. They ended up breaking it up anyways when Triple H returned from injury.

Stephanie becoming head of creative started a 20 plus year ratings decline, which worsened with the Attitude era ending with the Brand Split and the further creative downfall with Chris Kreski leaving in June 2002. Also driving Chyna out of the WWF for simply discovering the affair out of jealousy of their relationship(Which Stephanie admitted on Howard Stern when she said she couldn’t deal with Triple H sleeping with her and breaking things off with him for some time)

R.I.P. Chris Kreski, you along with Vince Russo were the best wrestling writers.... you both were the absolute best for the WWF/WWE.

R.I.P. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the most popular women’s wrestler of all time, she didn’t deserve the politics either.

You know all you needed to say was Stephanie was put in charge in 2000.....the rest was superfluous and was just shit used on TV.

Important for context and on the theory of why she was put in charge.

That’s a nice little opinion, but off topic. No one mentioned who the greatest women’s wrestler is.

Most popular / greatest. Its the same thing in the wrestling business. And Manami Toyota was the greatest women's wrestler - so therefore the most popular. Chyna is probably maybe top ten - but most popular is laughable. Moolah, Stratus, Aja Kong, Mildred Burke to name just a few.

2001 is probably my favorite year in WWF history so I'm not too heartbroken she got the reigns in 2000, but it certainly doesn't hold up forever.

I personally blame the decision to stock creative meetings with Hollywood writers instead of a tight booking committees.

And at the end of the day Vince approved that change so it is what is.

Most popular / greatest. Its the same thing in the wrestling business.

It’s not, greatest is subjective, popularity and drawing is objective, don’t try and be slick now that you were caught, get back on topic

Now if you want to discuss who’s most popular/biggest draw that’s something else and I’ll gladly educate you.

But who’s the greatest? Subjective and completely off topic.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Hollywood writers, Kreski was from outside the bubble, as was Russo. In fact the most horrible writings happen to be in the wrestling bubble.

The problem isn’t the Hollywood writers, it’s that’s she’s choosing Horrible writers, these guys never did anything special in Hollywood, she got C level low budget writers who never did anything.

If WWE hired the Russo brothers or Nolan brothers and invested highly into actual Hollywood writers we would have the biggest boom period ever. Instead of hoarding a talentless over bloated roster.

That would be Bertha Faye! That woman was hot!

I don't think that's entirely true. Russo was a fan of the product and ran a radio show and then got a job editing the magazine.

The issue I have isn't even that. It's having a team of writers. You should really only have one or two bookers and then Vince.

True, too many writers means not everyone gets to do what they want... but also this, no one thinks of this:

Huge groups create politics. What if Writer #12 pitches something good but Writer’s #5 & #7 are trying to get noticed and promoted so they bury Writer #12’s idea politically cancelling it.

Thats the type of stuff no one considers either.
