I use to play with mods, but I got too consumed by them. So now I am back to playing vanilla and now trying to think of what i wnat to play as

I'm reviving this with a question that never really got answered.

Stormcloak or Imperial? Which side are you on? Why?​

Having played the game, I do think I have to stick with the Empire for multiple reasons.

A.) Ulfric's entire plan is to basically kick out the Empire and then wage war against the Thalmor, who while weak from the recent wars, would still kick the shit out of an absolutely decimated independent Skyrim.
B.) The Empire is already planning on declaring war against the Dominion down the road, because a lot of the Empire's "faults" in Skyrim have already been explained away by the explanation that the peace treaty with the Aldmeri Dominion was to buy time until they could refresh their troops. If the Empire loses Skyrim, it breaks the back of the empire against a force that already wants to exterminate all of humanity from existence and set up an Elf-Supremacist society on Tamriel.
C.) The Empire wasn't even really guilty of what Ulfric was complaining of. The banning of Talos worship wasn't even being enforced until Ulfric made a fucking stink about it.
D.) Ulfric is a shit leader and a dirty coward. He murders the high king by cheating in a duel and then cowardly runs away from the city before he can claim the throne because he knew it was illegitimate. He's not a legitimate heir to the Blue Palace in Solitude.
E.) The Empire has subjectively a much better aesthetic compared to the Stormcloaks.

The Imperials are objectively the better option IMO. The Stormcloaks are basically xenophobic against anything that isn't a Nord and on top of that they would be fucking steamrolled in whatever war were to come next. The Talos ban by the Imperials is heavily implied to be temporary and out of necessity to keep Skyrim alive and would likely (although yes not guaranteed) be reversed. Imperials also have a far better economic and military infrastructure that would give Skyrim a much higher chance of at least surviving the next war they're in. Also, while not perfect, non-Nords would face far less discrimination under Imperial rule. Let's also not forget that the Civil War, caused by the Stormcloaks, is actively helping the Thalmor by weakening both sides of a fractured Skyrim.

As much as I am the opposite in real life, if this were real, I'd 100% side with the Imperials. However, neither side is completely good and I'd hate both regardless of the side I'd be on in that situation.
