This is all my opinion, I've been watching alot of ROH shows these past couple of days and I decided to make a thread telling you guys what I like and Dislike about the promotion....

The Pros:

A True Wrestling Alternative:

I feel that ROH is a REAL wrestling alternative. WWE and TNA's product has been decent at best lately and I think ROH is truely the promotion to turn to when things are going bad in the other two companies

Young and Talented Roster:

I love how ROH's Roster is full of young talented wrestlers like Nigel Mcguiness, El Generico, Kevin Steen, Bryan Danielson, and many more. I have to admit, when I first saw Kevin Steen I was like "damn this guy is gonna suck" but he truely amazed me by doing that flippy leg drop thing.

Championships:

Although ROH doesnt have a mid-card Championship right now, I just love how the World Title and the Tag Titles really mean so much. I do feel that the Title reigns in ROH are a little long but that just makes it even more special once the title changes hands

No Sports Entertainment bullshit:

You dont see Marrages (sp?), fake award shows, Diva Searches, Phyciatrists, "extreme expose", a fake Donald Trump and Rosey O'Donel wrestling, K-Fed, and basically all those stupid angles. I am a fan of great promos and great wrestling and in my opinion ROH has some good promos but their wrestling is the main attraction, and I like that

The Cons:

No TV or weekly PPV deal:

Its been over 5 years and still their is no TV deal or at the very least, a weekly PPV show. I understand that they want to keep their product the way it is, but you can keep it the way it is by either making a weekly PPV show or putting a ROH TV show on ESPN or FSN or one of those

They could pick up some guys

I think the ROH roster is, as I said before, great but their is always room for improvement. Maybe they should try to get some more Indy guys or maybe even sign Jerry Lynn! He could make a great addition to the roster and can help all the young talent

Production Values

My head hurts every time a Wrestler's theme hits because of the damn echoing!! I can barely hear some promos too, I think ROH needs to spend a few extra dollars and improve their sound system.

Well, thats what I think....thoughts?

I think the biggest cons are the lack of Star Power, The Production values, and the lack of a secure TV deal. Other than that I think the quality of the wrestling outshines the negatives of the promotion. ROH could've had a TV deal long ago, but they didn't want to rush things, and they felt they weren't ready. The last thing ROH wants to do is alienate its original fanbase. I wish I could say that about every promotion.

Nice write up man, I completely agree with you. You know, you mentioned ESPn as a possible station for an ROH TV deal. I've been thinking about this the past couple of days and think it could possibly work. ESPN used to broadcast wrestling and if they were to start up with that again ROH would be perfect for them because ROH values actual wrestling over the sports entertainment stuff that ESPN likes to criticize a lot. In short, ROH posseses the "realism" in wrestling that ESPN may want to broadcast. Just a thought.

Again, nice job.

Yep, i have to agree with you, but i also got a few more to add myself.

Pros:

Live shows

ROH puts on a 10x better live show than tna or wwe. They really do please the fans every show in every city. They fight in the crowds, they really do a lot to get the fans involved. Plus the tickets are so cheap.

Good characters/Promo skills

This is one big thing about ROH that i perfer over tna. TNA didnt use to have charcter, unlesss russo. But even now, i just don't like their characters. Meanwhile i enjoy almost every wrestler and persona each brings.

Cons;

You said production values, but i don't mind the grimey look. I hate the fake cheesy TNA set. I'd take dark and grimey anyday. BUT the audio could be better.

The thing I love most about ROH is the realism. Its common to see a guy lose after being given a Lariat, or even a viscous kick to the face, and who could forget about Danielson's elbows of fury. It adds a certain unpredictability to matches, which is something we don't see in other promotions. I love when things that wouldn't usually be considered a "finisher" are used to finish a match. Check out Joe & Low-Ki's first meeting, it ended after a vicious punching combination, which is not something you usually see in a wrestling ring.

I agree with alot of your points accept, to tell you the truth the ROH titles aren't really as prestigues as some people make them out to be; the company hasn't been around long enough to have alot of prestigue about the titles but the fact that they are defending them overseas and having long good title reigns is a great and defiantly helping and yes your right when ROH titles change hands it does mean more.

Also ROH is hugely depenedent on there Website so i think they should put alot more work into there website with better quality and more Videowires (doing one more reguarly) and just in general make it more user friendly.

As you said ROH could do with abit of a expansion to the roster and i agree alot with when you said add Jerry Lynn i said that back in a previous thread he fits the ROH style and would be a great fit. 2 other guys i would like to see added are Chuck Taylor and PAC.

As far as the Production values go i would defiantly fix the audio (entrances, mics) but in general i like the ROH set it has a great realistic feel to it.
