"The Plague Dogs is a 1982 British adult animated drama film based on the 1977 novel of the same name by Richard Adams."

I see a common thing online about this film being "for children" when holy hell, it isn't.
If anyone let their child watch this, what the heck is wrong with them?

I am only just now learning about the movie and I am tempted to watch it. It is basically a story that revolved around dogs who want to escape the torture of animal testing. It is meant to be dark and brutal. It exaggerates animal testing to make it looks way more cruel than it is, and that is a very hard thing to do considering a lot of testing if not most testing done back then was VERY cruel already.

Has anyone seen or heard of this movie? What about the book?

Yes, I have seen and read the book. Both are absolutely brutal, but because of them a lot of people began demanding that animal testing become illegal and other such things. As far as the "for kids" thing remember the 80's gave no fucks.

Also, if you think this is brutal look up Watership Down and Dogs of War, I think it is called.

Good call Seth...

I'm going to throw a film into the ring...with similar themes...
but it takes it in a more "trippy" direction.

Its one of my all time favorites & began my fascination
with rats at a very young age.

I would also like to recommend the comic series "We3"

we3-tpb-cover-104354.jpg

which deals with animals being turned into military weapons...
and fair warning...its absolutely heart breaking...like I teared
up from reading it

A truly moving story.

Again, the 80s gave no fucks. Every 80s "kids" movie was dark as hell, and honestly, I like it.

My mom didn't care what I watched it seemed. I saw all the horror films of the 70's, 80's, and 90's before the age of 10.

Same. She believes me watching those films is the reason for why I am the way I am today, and I like yeah sure, lol.

If that was the case, I would be a lot more angry and violent. Ironically enough, I am the most passive and quiet person in my family. I hate fighting and arguing and I tend to avoid confrontation. I'll stick to animals, doodles, and watching my anime. I sound like I am still 10... lol

As a 36 year old man who collects action figures of monsters & robots,
watches the animes & old 1950's science fiction films...I think you're
doing fine Snake.

I also remember being allowed to watch whatever I wanted when I
was a kid...although finding a stash of pornography on old VHS
tapes when I was like 10 may have warped my personality in a
certain way.

The only film I ever remember causing me any mental distress
was The Fly II...& for your information it was the "test dog" scenes
that actually gave me nightmares.

Of course as an adult I love the film because of its practical effects
& puppet work...but as a young kid...it did traumatize me to some
degree.
