Why does Hardy still have this belt?

At this point, the IC belt means absolutely nothing to him. His sole focus is on the WWE championship.

He should have dropped the IC title before his number one contender match with HHH. Not only will it give midcarders something to do and something to fight for, but it makes the match at the RR less predictable. As long as Hardy as the IC belt, its clear as day that he is not going to beat Orton. I know its happened before but its always a shitting scenario, especially when the wrestler with both belts has to drop the IC title.

The purpose of the IC belt is to help get a mid card wrestler over and test them to see if they have what it takes to possibily be a main eventer someday. Hardy is already in the main event. He has been been elevated and he is already over enough without the midcard belt. Even if he wasn't, a main event feud is worth more than the IC title.

Then you get stuff like last night. Hardy putting the IC title on the line like it means nothing and Orton getting intentionally DQed in a match for the belt like it means nothing.

Why not give a midcarder like Kennedy a shot with the IC title and see what he can do. There are plenty of talented guys sitting around with nothing to do. What about Marella? Instead of pairing him up with some like Carlito who will just bring him down, why not give him a run with the belt as a heel.

Its seems like they are just giving the belt to anyone with no plans to actually use it for what its worth. They book the US title perfectly, yet mess up the IC title almost every time.

The IC title has meant nothing since Orton dropped it in 2004.

Yeah I agree Hardy should've dropped it to give some meaning to a few midcard feuds and I think the failure of the IC title is the reason why SD! can develop stars far better than Raw. Giving the title to Santino or Carlito would've definately been a sensible move but I wouldn't have given it to Kennedy as he's currently feuding with HBK. The IC title doesn't mean anything at the moment and needs some prestige put back into it and I'm surprised Raw are struggling too with the talent they've got in the midcard...

The thing is I don't think WWE wants to stop Hardy's momentum by having him lose the title or stray away from the Orton feud but the perfect drop would be he faces his opponent and Orton while the ref is knocked out RKO's Hardy right before he hits the swanton from the top rope and then he drops the title there so he keeps his feud with Orton and doesn't really lose the match.

What else does anybody expect? This is the same belt Ric Flair had for months while feuding with HHH. It hasn't meant anything in 4 years. In fact, only the WWE title has any value these days.

No, the WHC is slowly recovering after the reign of Khali. It should fully recover it with the Edge vs Taker match at Mania.

Didin't read the post above so forgive me if its been stated..but i think that by the time WWE relized that the title was gunna be stuck on Hardy it was to late...cause lets face it...are they gunna want to have Jeff drop it before his big fued against Orton...are they ways they could have done it though yes...

I disagree that that is all the IC title is used for. I mean look at some of the people who have held it....

Goldust, Dean Douglas, The Mountie, Shelton Benjamin, Marc Mero, The Honkey Tonk Man, Jeff Jarrett,Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper, Rikishi, Road Dogg, Billy Gun, Lance Storm, A-Train, Chyna, Test, Carlito, how many of these guys were elevated to the main event after holding the IC title?

Rikishi had a semi-main event thing with The Rock where O_O he did it....O_O he did it....for....Samoa....but thats it. Was there ever a Lance Storm/Steve Austin feud? How about that great Mr. Perfect/Ultimate Warrior feud that hadlined PPV after PPV? The IC title is there, like others, to give the guys something to fight for. Maybe not so much now, but back in the day with so many guys, there needed to be more than one title to fight for.

I think that'd be cool if they'd give to someone who isn't in a feud for the WWE title. I think that it would inject some life into some of the mid card guys and make the feud even better. I think Kennedy should have it right now and be feuding with someone else, I'm not really sure who at this moment since most of the IC contenders are in other feuds and I know HBK is above it. But then again I think that is the whole problem with the IC belt. I think it'd be awesome of if someone like HBK won the belt even if it was only for a week or something to bring some actualy credibility to the belt, but whatever I highly doubt that anything like that'll happen.
