We know sitting too much is bad, and most of us intuitively feel a little guilty after a long TV binge. But what exactly goes wrong in our bodies when we park ourselves for nearly eight hours per day, the average for a U.S. adult? Many things, say four experts, who detailed a chain of problems from head to toe. Download a pdf poster of this graphic.

lol'd at "The cat" @Britanica :pity1:
Christ if this ends up official etc imagine the new laws and rules regarding work forcing you to walk round the office every half an hour.

I am actually sitting on a stability ball right now. :tough:
And I knew about this stuff. Read up on it a few years ago. The human body is designed to be in constant movement. When we allow our body to relax, outside of sleeping, it cause muscles to become more weak and brittle. This leads to organs getting lazy, and a buncha other crap going wrong over the course of say 5 years. Not to mention, the more you sit the higher your chances of becomming or being obese.
This is another reason why people who bust their butts on cardio infact damage their heart. Cardio is not bad in small spurts but when you are doing cardio 5 days a week for an hour at a crack, imagine how your heart feels. The easiest way to stay healthy is to move more. That is it. All's it takes is walking and even basic tasks such as cooking and cleaning. You really don't want to be sitting longer than 3 to 4 hours a day. Sleeping not included.

And about sitting on a stability ball, it does make a difference on your back, neck and shoulders. I was in a lot of pain after waking up so I moved my desk chair out the way and sat on the ball instead and it already feels better.

Yeah, I already know this stuff. Sadly, the only time I move now is to get some food. :okay:
Although, I've been doing some other stuff as well lately.

Ditto what D'Z said.

Saw something on this a while back, and they were starting to implement "standing offices," I suppose you could call them. They basically went through an office where people who had desk jobs and sat pretty much all day at work and did simple things like raising the computers by setting them on boxes so the employees could stand at their desks to work rather than sit.

I see nothing wrong with making it optional. But if they force people to stand its too far. I enjoy using the stability ball. I move a lot more when I have cleaning to do. But being that I do work on my computer (freelance writing and what not) I sit A LOT. Sometimes standing isn't an option if I am multitasking either.
