The greatest pure babyface performers.

We all love the land of grey where good guys aren't cookie cutter and bad guys aren't the only ones who take the low road. However some performers can still be magical without those added elements, they can just be good guys who you like.

I'll post a few examples of this :



Dusty Rhodes speaking about a recession hit America and how he hopes to channel their love for him through their television sets and onto him.



A tribute to the red and yellow incarnation of Hogan, he was the whitest of the white in a two tone world but did anyone do it better? I'm inclined to say no.

Now are there any typical faces who fit the mould that you enjoyed?

Steamboat senior was one of the best pure babyfaces in the business in my opinion.

For all his talk about taking your vitamins and saying your prayers and whatnot, Hogan actually still showed some heel antics himself during his Hulkamania run in the 80's, even though he's perceived as the whitest meat baby face that there's ever been. Let's look at all the ones I can think of:

-On one of the earliest episodes of Saturday's Night Main Event, Hogan defeated Nikolai Volkoff and then proceeded to stomp on the Russian flag and spit on it before throwing it out of the ring. This was 1985, when the Cold War was still a period of tension that had a lot people on edge, but still, Hogan suddenly became super offended when a guy Sgt. Slaughter (or others, like the Iron Sheik) threatened to treat the good ol' U.S. of A. flag the same way.

-He helped Randy Savage win the WWF Title at Wrestlemania 4 by slamming a chair into DiBiase's back when the ref's back was turned... Even though DiBiase arguably had the match won fairly with the Million Dollar Dream.

-The Twin Towers (Big Bossman and Akeem) eliminate Hogan fairly in the 1989 Royal Rumble but he acts like a sore loser by pulling the Bossman out and brawling with him all the way to the back, effectively eliminating him in the process because he spent too much time away from the ring.

-He cheated his way into winning a world title when he threw ashes from Undertaker's urn in his eyes to blind him at Tuesday In Texas, which is what caused Jack Tunney to strip him of the title, causing the 1992 Royal Rumble to declare the winner of the vacant belt.

-Sid eliminated him at the 1992 Royal Rumble fairly, and despite it being Every Man For Himself, Hogan still grabbed a hold of Sid's arm and helped Ric Flair eliminate him, and then acted like Sid had wronged him in some way. This makes Hogan look not only petty but also hypocritical since he did the same with Savage at the 1989 Rumble a few years earlier and then wondered what Savage was so upset about.

Anyway, I think I'll go with Ricky Steamboat. He was a pure baby face for his entire career and was one of the most over in terms of baby face reactions in the 80's WWF. Look at how much heel heat Savage got for crushing his throat with the ring bell in 1986, which led to one of the most anticipated matches of Wrestlemania 3. I believe Steamboat only ever went heel once in his career when he was doing a brief stint with TNA.
