Orton vs. Punk is set for WrestleMania and a few weeks back the GM made an announcement that Orton would face each member of Nexus in a singles match on RAW and if the member of Nexus won they could be in Punk's corner at WrestleMania XXVII.

Husky Harris, Michael McGillicuty and now David Otunga have all lost to Orton but not only that they have all been punted by Orton and haven't appeared on RAW since they were punted. Mason Ryan is the only one left and although I expect him to win and be in Punk's corner what does this mean for Nexus? Three of the five members have been punted and presumably are out "injured" indefinitely. One man has taken out three members of the group and "seriously injured" them.

Will they automatically return after WrestleMania or will they be stuck in developmental training again? Will Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield make their returns and rejoin Nexus? Is there any point in keeping Nexus around as a group anymore and should they all go their own ways?

I think this should be the end of the Nexus. The group has had a long run with only 1 original member remaining in David Otunga, so it's probably time it's finished. The fact one man has taken out Nexus person-by-person is pretty silly considering the Nexus is supposed to be this dominant group, but I have to admit that I'd rather Randy Orton do it than John Cena any day. Since Wade Barrett, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel left Nexus, in my opinion the group was at it's weakest point ever, with the addition of CM Punk only making a minor difference overall.

I've read that Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty's puntings are because the WWE feel Harris needs more time to develop, and because they're going to re-package McGillicutty. In that case, it definitely sounds like they are no longer a part of the Nexus. As for Otunga, his punting is probably just to continue the storyline.

I think for the RAWs leading up to Wrestlemania, the momentum will shift in favour of Punk & Ryan, starting with Ryan beating Orton and being in Punk's corner at Wrestlemania. It's highly likely that Orton will beat Punk, which should represent the end for Nexus.

If Nexus (Punk, Ryan, Otunga) show up the night after Wrestlemania and have brought in Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield, they would be one damn intimidating group I have to admit. Hopefully that doesn't happen because the group has really run it's course and the WWE would really just be delaying the inevitable.

Will they automatically return after WrestleMania or will they be stuck in developmental training again? Harris & McGillicutty will be in FCW (reasons mentioned above), Otunga & Ryan will still be on RAW but likely not in Nexus.
Will Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield make their returns and rejoin Nexus? I doubt it.
Is there any point in keeping Nexus around as a group anymore and should they all go their own ways? No point, they should deifntiely go their own ways.

I agree that it is time to end Nexus. It made sense when it was the members of NXT Season One but ever since Barrett left the group it hasn't meant the same thing anymore and even though Punk leading a group works well it is just a name now. Ryan will probably stick with Punk as his muscle from WrestleMania onwards but they won't be known as Nexus anymore.

Otunga will probably come back but honestly I don't know if he will do well without a group around him, he just seems a bit weak as a singles wrestler and a bit lost on RAW. I would bring McGillicuty and Harris back but as a tag team, don't call them Nexus give them another new name and add them to the tag team division to try to build it up a bit on RAW. Sheffield and Tarver I have no idea what they can do, unless they are completely repackaged then keep them in FCW until creative comes up with something for them.

The Nexus was at it's strongest when there was the original 8 of them. Daniel Bryan was gone a week or so later, so it went down to 7, but the group was still very strong. Sure enough Young was kicked out, it's down to 6, but now you cannot find a fault in it and the group still had a point. It's a shame injuries hit Sheffield and Tarver, which brought the group back down to 4, which had it looking weak and needing a boost. In comes Harris and McGillicutty, the group became stronger, makes sense to continue it. Barrett is kicked out as leader, Punk comes in, Gabriel and Slater leave with Barrett, and this is when I think the group was on it's last legs. Eventually Mason Ryan is brought in, the member count is at 5, but now 3 of them are "on the shelf", so that's it for the Nexus.

It makes sense to keep Ryan as Punk's "protege", "muscle", "bodyguard"; however you want to put it. I wouldn't mind if the WWE didn't have main event plans for Punk or anything for Ryan that the two team up and go after the Tag Team Championships. If this was to happen, it would have a JeriShow feel to it instead of main eventers becoming champions for some stupid reason like Cena & Miz. Not only would this keep Punk as a prime player, but it would help build Ryan's career.

As for Otunga, I think he'd likely be involved in the United States Championship scene at best. He isn't a main eventer, nowhere near it, and you're right, Troy, when you said that he looks weak as a singles wrestler and is lost on RAW. Too bad the WWE hold him in high regard, so I wouldn't rule out him becoming US Champ in the future.

Harris & McGillicutty are out of Nexus, my reasons for that is mentioned in my post above this one.
