Oh without a doubt his match against Jericho at Extreme Rules, as a matter of fact, it's the very reason it's my favorite match of the year. Let me explain . . .
When Punk first one the title, I was one hundred percent positive he'll be the champion going into Mania without losing it. It made no sense for him to lose the belt before that in my opinion. It actually didn't take to long into the feud for me to start to believe he'll actually have a year long reign. Throughout his feud with Jericho, I hadn't a doubt Punk was winning. Why, well one because I was sure he'd hold it until SummerSlam at least at that point but also because I'm very familiar with who Chris Jericho is. Jericho had mentioned how he reached a position where him losing isn't going to hurt him whereas someone beating him say Evan Bourne can only do good in previous interviews. He affinity of putting people over was well-known and shown during the end of his previous run, and the fact that he stated previously that one of his biggest reason, if not his biggest (I honestly don't remember how much value he placed on it), was to work a program with Punk. I put two and two together and it made no sense for Jericho to take it when considering Jericho's mentality, as well looking it at from a business decision. I went into the match one-hundred percent positive Punk would win.
My second favorite match of the year, what would be my favorite had it not been for Jericho/Punk, was Taker vs. HHH: End Of An Era. I entered this match one-hundred percent positive Taker would win. It's probably important to note that I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to these thoughts (which might be obvious). Anyway, no matter how wonderfully crafted the story in the match was, no matter what they did, they never once convinced me Taker was losing. They convinced my Dad and friend who were watching, which was hilarious to me (not really a superiority thing, but moreso because their reactions were polar opposites), However, I entered this match without any doubt that Punk was winning and dammit they got me. The chair-aided Code-Breaker at the end of the bout had flooded me with doubt and I was even more glued to the screen. When Punk kicked it was like I was in the audience because I actually jumped up and let out a cheer (love Jericho, but Punk's still my guy - plus I don't love being wrong). I can't recall another match that's done that me in years (the flooding me with doubts, not the mark out cheer) but granted I don't enter too many matches with one-hundred percent certainty on the results.
Since Night Of Champions was mentioned, the last near (missed two matches) full show I've watched. They didn't get me there, I entered with extremely little doubt (like, three percent) that Punk would lose (I figured WWE realized that the Punk/Rock match would draw better if Punk was still in his year long plus reign but also it does Cena more good to win it later). I saw through the finish, probably due to the fact that Cena winning was a decision I didn't consider as having a legitimate chance but also because the move Cena used to end the match was way to out of the norm for a WWE Championship bout (especially to end Punk's reign), so it had to have another purpose.
