There wasn't an announcement made on ECW this past Tuesday night as to who would be facing Randy Orton for the vacant WWE Championship at No Mercy because they still hadn't figured out what they were going to do yet. A meeting was scheduled for today to discuss the matter. McMahon is said to be very high on Randy Orton right now, feeling he is currently the hottest heel in the company. In a move that continues to make Orton look like the top candidate to get the title on Sunday, the WWE website has a video showing John Cena's surgery with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama yesterday. While the video mentions Cena's injury as taking place during a hip toss with Mr. Kennedy, they show the attack by Orton afterwards to make it appear as if he was the one who did the most damage.

In what seems to be an annual error, Ticketmaster.com has a listing for a WCW World Championship Wrestling event taking place on Sunday, October 28 at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA. This is obviously an error as WCW is not coming back. The official Columbus Civic Center website also has a page on "WCW." The site says they're presenting something called 'WCW: Entertaining the World featuring "Mother Nature's Boy"'.

On Thursday, WWE released developmental talent Keith Walker from his contract. Walker had been training in Tampa with Florida Championship Wrestling. WWE signed Walker last November, and he was originally assigned to Deep South Wrestling.

WWE likely won't confirm this.

Television industry news site TVWeek.com reports that SpikeTV has posted quotes from Spike TV spokesman David Schwartz discussing the cable network's plans to begin broadcasting in high-definition in the first quarter of 2008.

The high-definition Spike TV channel, which will be carried by DirecTV, will not feature any original programming. In the first quarter of 2008 (January-March), some of the channel’s programs, such as the reality game show “Pros vs. Joes†and the pro wrestling series “TNA Impact!,†will be shot in high-def, with the remainder upconverted to HD. By the second quarter, Spike expects nearly all of its original programs (including UFC shows "The Ultimate Fighter" and "UFC Fight Night" live events) to be shot in HD.

“We know that our demographic—men 18 to 49—are guys who are interested in technology and would love to see UFC fights in high definition,†Mr. Schwarz said. “We want to bring that to them.â€

It is now believed that Chris Jericho has signed a new contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. The news leaked through TNA sources who said that they were negotiating with the former Undisputed Champion before they learned that Jericho decided to return to WWE.

With the recent injury to who is now the former WWE Champion John Cena, Chris Jericho’s return could not come at a better time. Despite his absence from the wrestling business, Jericho will return as a top-tier main event caliber talent that can immediately help the RAW brand.

The “Save_US.222†viral marketing campaign videos began airing about two weeks ago, the same time at which Jericho backed away from negotiations with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
