PROLOGUE:

fyP1ppM.png

The Decline of World Championship Wrestling

The turn of the century saw the World Wrestling Federation at the top of its game. On top of the sports entertainment industry, the company was leaps and bounds ahead of its competition presented by the Atlanta-based World Championship Wrestling. Following the departure of Eric Bischoff as the President of WCW, the Fall of 1999 saw Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara similarly depart the WWF following a near-three successful year tenure as a core member of the Federation's booking committee. Although Russo was undoubtedly a large contributor to the World Wrestling Federation's success in 'the Monday Night Wars', with the company's 'Attitude Era' campaign soar above to overcome the opposition, Vince McMahon recruited a string of creative hands to ensure that the company's success continued moving forward.

With Russo and Ferrera's hands on the blueprints of WCW's potential turnaround, things did not all go according to plan. Unfiltered, the creative direction of the company was further jeopardized by his radicalized ideas of what a professional wrestling television program should be all about. What had worked for the WWF one year prior with the sky-rocketing ratings for 'RAW is WAR' was not a smash hit. The booking process, dubbed by insiders as "Crash TV" only served the purpose of baffling fans of the product; mishandling stars; and overall surely confusing the problem that rooted WCW prior to Bischoff's departure.

The failure of Russo as the new creative handler of World Championship Wrestling's content would lead to Kevin Sullivan and a makeshift booking committee forcing Vince's hand in ultimately departing the company in January 2000, just three months later.

fyP1ppM.png

The Changing Landscape of the World Wrestling Federation

While World Championship Wrestling attempted to rid itself of the financial head spin caused by the new-turned-former creative regime of Russo and Ferrara, the times were also changing for the World Wrestling Federation. 'The Attitude Era', launched by Vince McMahon in December of 1997, proved to be the winning combination that the WWF needed as flagship show 'RAW is WAR' saw itself falling in the ratings, at the hands of WCW's 'Monday Nitro'. With a strong focus on angles over matches, entertainment over work-rate, and presenting a highly prioritized product based on real life-inspired storylines, television soap-opera drama elements and sex, the characters were larger than life. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Undertaker, Mankind and the Rock were the men on the front-line, whilst Sable was the scoring sex symbol that allowed WWF to grace covers on Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, and even Playboy.

At the turn of the century, this was about to change with the career-threatening neck injury suffered by Stone Cold Steve Austin. The departure of Sable based around sexual harassment claims. The disagreement with management and subsequent groin tear suffered by the Undertaker. The rapidly approaching retirement of Mick Foley. And with Russo and Ferrara out of the company, the World Wrestling Federation would have to look for something new moving into the new millennium.

The final months of the 20th century saw the WWF load up on talent from Paul Heyman's Extreme Championship Wrestling, as the Dudley Boyz, Stevie Richards and Tazz would head to New York. The Big Show and Chris Jericho had joined months prior, unsatisfied with their creative direction in WCW. Previously dwindling characters by the likes of Too Much and the Sultan were given cool, hip characters that caught on with kids under the aliases of Too Cool and Rikishi Phatu. Kurt Angle - a gold medalist in the 1996 Olympic Games - made his debut and caught on as a despicable, loudmouthed heel. The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian shocked the world with their risk-taking, daredevil life-or-death antics in a showstealing Ladder match at WWF's No Mercy event that October.

On January 17, 2000, a walkout was permitted to take place when then-new WCW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko left Atlanta following disgruntled negotiations with the new booking committee led by Kevin Sullivan. The quartet shocked the industry when two weeks following, the group appeared on WWF RAW is WAR. Having signed new contracts with Vince McMahon, the group - dubbed 'the Radicalz' - were sure to be full-fledged additions to the already expanded ranks of the World Wrestling Federation.

But above all else: Triple H was about to dive to the forefront of the World Wrestling Federation's reshuffled deck of playing cards. Already a two-time WWF Champion, Triple H had been struggling to find his niche at the top of the company in a leading role. On the November 29 edition of RAW is WAR, a storyline helped cement him as a driving force in the company, with a marriage to Stephanie McMahon; the boss's daughter. With the marriage to the boss's daughter, Triple H became the man to beat in the WWF: boasting wins against Mick Foley, and ending his career in a Hell in a Cell match, and with a budding rivalry with top fan favorite megastar, the Rock.

fyP1ppM.png

The World's Most Dysfunctional Family

With the controversial drive-thru marriage of Triple H and a drugged Stephanie McMahon in Vegas, the entire McMahon family were sent into a state of disarray. A power struggle ensued, with the Chairman Vince McMahon and even the bride, Stephanie, vocally opposing it. Shane McMahon saw himself involved, and following a family war between the McMahons and D-Generation X, Triple H defeated his father-in-law at December's Armageddon. Shockingly, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley orchestrated the whole thing to grant power to the newly wedded power couple.

The late winter saw the ushering in of what has been called 'the McMahon-Helmsley Regime'. With Triple H and Stephanie abusing their power, he was able to crown himself the WWF Champion for a third time following a victory against the Big Show. Stephanie would see gold herself: becoming the WWF Women's Champion in March of 2000, following much interference against reigning champion Jacqueline. The regime saw the manhandling of Kane, as his girlfriend Tori betrayed him to join new boyfriend X-Pac. The faction's influence also cost Mick Foley his career, culminating in a barbaric Hell in a Cell encounter at No Way Out.

But soon enough, Vince McMahon's wounds healed. The Chairman returned with a vengeance, reeking havoc on the couple, while also voicing his distaste in his son Shane McMahon's decision to accompany the Big Show. Following the Big Show's controversial win against the Rock, granting him a WWF Championship opportunity in the main event of WrestleMania, Linda McMahon would also join the fray. The stage was now set for a Fatal 4-Way Elimination match on 'the Grandest Stage of Them All'. It would see Triple H, accompanied by Stephanie - defending the WWF Championship - against The Rock, accompanied by Vince; the Big Show, managed by Shane; and the returning Mick Foley in his swansong with the company - accompanied by Linda.

fyP1ppM.png

The Showcase of the Immortals

WrestleMania 2000 went down in the history books as a night to remember: for a lot of the wrong reasons. Once again it was the high-risk nature of the Triangle Ladder match contested between the Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, and the Dudley Boyz that stole the show, with the young Canadian brothers ultimately coming out victorious. Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle put on a spectacle in a two-fall Triple Threat match, which saw Benoit become the WWF Intercontinental Champion, and Jericho the European Champion. But with a plethora of tag team matches and one singles match of note on the card - a "Catfight" between the Kat and Terri - the show was not regarded as one of the greatest WrestleManias of all time.

'A McMahon in Every Corner' was the tagline. In the end, three of the McMahons were firmly in but one of them. Triple H was able to overcome the odds of the Rock, Mick Foley and the Big Show in the main event of WrestleMania. The first man in fourteen years of the Showcase of the Immortals to walk in and out with the WWF Championship, it was all in part thanks to Vince and Shane McMahon's involvement. The Rock was screwed out of the richest prize in the business by the very man that held an apparent grudge towards his son-in-law, and it was the Chairman himself.

The Rock would respond by cleaning house and ending WrestleMania standing tall, having gifted Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley with a Rock Bottom and a People's Elbow. But the Rock was still not the man to walk out of WrestleMania with the title. And with the McMahon-Helmsley Regime now sharing unified power over the entire World Wrestling Federation, the future looks futile for him.

As the new millennium dawns, and with WrestleMania slowly to be a distant memory, the year 2000 looks to be a pivotal year for the sports entertainment machine. With rumors of Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo both returning to World Championship Wrestling to take on shared control of the company. With the entire locker room at the World Wrestling Federation looking to make a name for themselves, to outshine the others. With business booming through the massive indulgence and interest in professional wrestling. With the McMahon-Helmsley Regime in full force.

A few years ago, I finally found the energy that brought me to fantasy writing over a decade ago. I started watching pro wrestling back in the winter of 2000, as a five year old I marveled at the screen as I watched these titans of the Attitude Era go at it. Periodically and in my own time, I amassed over a year's worth of shows -- albeit with the much-needed help of COVID-19. That's where my love of writing comes from. It's the passion of reaching each milestone; that goal of passing a show of desire. Blowing off rivalries and watching character evolve with each passing week, it's all a work of art that makes me love what I do.

This originally saw fame elsewhere. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, I'm able to share that here on WS.

This will still only serve as a side hustle for the Pandemic Project, my current passion. You may see the Roster post change sparingly, perhaps monthly in-universe. The shows have previously been written, but have been moderated to make the product easier to follow. Consider it a revamp, if you like.

Once fifteen months fly by, who knows where we'll be. Maybe I'll have started writing it again, and the shows will march onwards. Maybe it will simply exist here for recognition on a new platform, but remain an antique to other diaries of today.

I hope you'll join me on this journey of reliving and recreating history. Let the memories live on.

- Dan.

RAW is WAR #358 - April 3, 2000
Staples Center in Los Angeles, California
Live on the USA Network

WER96kf.png

One night separated from WrestleMania 2000, RAW is WAR kicks off with the opening video package followed by the powerful showcase of pyrotechnics. The Staples Center in Los Angeles was booming, as Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler welcomed us to the fallout of WrestleMania 2000. J.R. and the King talked about the WWF European Championship being on the line when new champion Chris Jericho defends against Eddie Guerrero and cousins collide when Hardcore Holly defends the WWF Hardcore Championship against Crash!

Family Affair
Los Angeles exploded as The Rock made his way out to the roaring crowd, 'the Brahma Bull' coming off of an emotional rollercoaster of disappointment and betrayal last night at WrestleMania. The Rock shunned the capacity crowd's chants by declaring that the Rock was back in Hollywood, but while in normal cases being in Hollywood would be electrifying, there is only one thing on his mind: and that is reclaiming the World Wrestling Federation Championship! The Rock discussed how Triple H, alongside his sl*t of a wife Stephanie played the waiting game all along when Vince McMahon - the biggest assh*le walking God's green earth stabbed the Rock in the ring. Not to mention Shane McMahon, twinkle-toes himself, sticking his head where it doesn't belong. The Rock talked about how it didn't matter that the McMahons stood in his way last night at WrestleMania 2000: because one way or another, the McMahons would feel the Rock's wrath when he kicks their candy-asses up and down LA!

Rock's comments must have gone overheard by the powers that be, as Vince McMahon came out to the stage accompanied by his son, Shane McMahon. The Chairman of the company and his prodigal son stood frozen on the ramp, as the Staples Center - as encouraged by the Rock - chanted "assh*le" their way, but finally the boss spoke up. Vince told Rock that he had a problem with the way that the Rock was talking about his family. He discussed how Rock was painting his family out to be the bad guys, despite how far from the truth that is. Vince claimed that without Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the Rock would be working the flea markets in downtown LA; that Shane was the mastermind that brought this family back together once more; and how his daughter Stephanie was an angel married to an intelligent WWF Superstar by the name of Triple H: the same Triple H that beat the Rock clean as a whistle at WrestleMania last night! The fact of the matter is: Rock wasn't getting his rematch. The 'Brahma Bull' refused to take no for an answer, telling Vince that it didn't matter - if he isn't getting Triple H, then he wants Vince and Shane to take a walk down to his ring and get ready for an ass-whooping of a lifetime courtesy of the Rock!

Shane took the mic and ran down Los Angeles for their lack of hygiene and self-respect, before telling Rock that he is in luck because if anybody wants a piece of the Rock's ass, it is him. After what he did last night, giving his beloved sister Stephanie the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow - Rock doesn't know or probably care that she can hardly walk! Shane was about to issue the challenge to Rock, when Vince took the microphone, telling Shane that this isn't what they had planned. Vince shut the people up as they attempted to scream slurs at the McMahons, before telling Rock that tonight it would be in fact, The Rock taking on Shane McMahon...but also his father, Vince McMahon himself! LA erupted, as Rock raised an eyebrow, telling the McMahons that they had just signed their death warrant, because tonight in the main event, he would take Shane's prodigal head and take Vince's gigantic head - and what the Rock was going to do was stick the McMahon's heads inside each other's asses! A handicap match with the Rock and the McMahons - one hell of a main event in store tonight!

  • TONIGHT: Handicap match - The Rock vs Vince and Shane McMahon
〓〓〓

A graphic aired, promoting the WWF European Championship match coming up next. Chris Jericho would defend his newly-won title against Eddie Guerrero!

Backstage, the World Wrestling Federation Champion Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley were seen arriving at the building, Stephanie complaining about her neck to her husband. 'The Game' and the boss's daughter were stobbed by a stage-hand, and the expression on the WWF Champion's face changed - the power couple storming off in an apparent reaction to what was said in the ring.

WER96kf.png

Outside, a warm night in Tinsel Town saw the Staples Center electric inside for tonight's fallout from WrestleMania 2000. Hollywood was in for a wild ride!

Back live, the new WWF European Champion Chris Jericho made his way out to the ring for his very first title defense. With Chyna beside him, 'the Millennium Man' ushered us into RAW is Jericho. Y2J was stoked to represent Europe after ousting Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit last night - although if he had it his way, he would also be WWF Intercontinental Champion right now. But his opponent tonight also claims to be a man of culture, a man of mystique - and that man is Eddie Guerrero. Jericho climbed into the ring declaring that tonight the greasy, greasy mullet of Eddie Guerrero's would hit the ground!

1 | Eddie Guerrero def. Chris Jericho (w/Chyna) (c) to win the WWF European Championship (5:24)
After enduring a humiliating defeat against 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' last night, Eddie Guerrero hoped to rebound by taking the WWF European Championship from Chris Jericho. Y2J competed in not one but two falls against two highly skilled Superstars in Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, but came out of it with one of Angle's titles. Both men in this contest went back and forth, with Eddie slyly gaining the upper hand. Eddie was in control, but when the fight went outside, Chyna intimidated him back inside! Chyna followed Eddie, the challenger cowering when Chyna went to strike him just to take out the referee! Jericho came back inside, just to eat a shocking clothesline from 'the Ninth Wonder of the World'! Once associates suddenly turned enemies, as Chyna planted Y2J with a DDT, allowing Eddie to take the win!

Mamacita Comes to Her Senses
Eddie Guerrero had successfully won his first title in the World Wrestling Federation! But as Chyna handed Eddie the WWF European Championship, Eddie was puzzled - why did his enemy turn on her friend to allow him win the title? Chyna marched out of the ring with Guerrero, when Eddie was stopped by 'the Ninth Wonder of the World', where the amazon French kissed Eddie! His eyes grew wide, as he raised the title in celebration - hand in hand with Chyna, no less!

WER96kf.png

Footage from moments ago aired, recapping Chyna's shocking betrayal of Chris Jericho, aiding her thought-to-be enemy Eddie Guerrero in capturing the WWF European Championship.

In their office, Vince McMahon was seen with his son Shane McMahon - now in an argument with Triple H! Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley looked on nervously as the WWF Champion argued with his father-in-law about how the McMahons had challenged the Rock to a handicap match tonight. Triple H told Vince and Shane that they should have asked him first, to which Vince reminded 'the Game' who was in charge here! Triple H told Vince and Shane to enjoy it, because he wouldn't be there to save the day like he did last night! H walked out, leaving Stephanie - as Vince barked that Rock's ass was toast tonight on their hands! The McMahon-Helmsley alliance was falling apart, only twenty-four hours after forming!

WER96kf.png

Returning to his office, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley held her neck whilst talking to Vince McMahon about her winning the WWF Women's Championship last week. Vince told his daughter how proud he was of her, before asking how her neck was doing. Stephanie told Vince how she was hurting, but attempted to dissuade him to allowing Triple H to help out. She cited that Hunter may be hot-headed, but deep down he's concerned what the Rock will do to her family in the handicap match tonight. Vince soon relented, telling his daughter that he would consider it: but this is what the Rock has coming tonight - especially after what he did to his precious daughter.

In the arena, the Godfather and D-Lo Brown were making their way to the ring accompanied by half-a-dozen Hos, presented specially by the Godfather's connections to his escort service. Brown's head gyrated whilst Godfather welcomed everybody to come aboard the Ho Train! Godfather said that WrestleMania was a party, but the fun is yet to take place because tonight they've got T&A in their corner, and in the corner going against them! And of course, he's talking about the newest girl on the block Trish Stratus. Godfather insinuated that if Trish ever got bored of Test and Albert, to just come aboard and 'Pimp Daddy' would take good care of her!

2 | T&A (w/Trish Stratus) def. D-Lo Brown and the Godfather (w/Hos) (3:18)
WrestleMania 2000 was a party for D-Lo Brown and the Godfather. They opened the jam-packed house in Arrowhead Pond, whilst Ice-T played them to the ring, rapping to the fans' delight. But unfortunately it was the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan who came out on top, and the Pimps were out for a win, the night after WrestleMania. T&A were fueled by the comments of Godfather about their new manager Trish Stratus, who scowled in 'the Pimp Daddy's direction. Godfather as a result received the brunt of a beating from Test and Albert, who powered him around. D-Lo finally got the tag and ran wild on both men, but at ringside Godfather fought with Test, when Trish suddenly approached him and stroked his chest! The distraction allowed Albert to deliver a chokebomb on Brown, taking the win!

The Godfather shoved Trish Stratus away from him and slid into the ring as Albert rolled out - D-Lo Brown and the Godfather suffering a second loss in two nights, tonight courtesy of T&A! Trish stood on the ramp with her newly assembled team: and what a unit Test and Albert were becoming, with the poised seductive assistance of the newcomer, Trish!

Backstage, Kurt Angle was seen talking to referee Tim White about the results of last night's two-fall Triple Threat match that saw him lose both the WWF Intercontinental and European Championships. Angle told Tim that he wasn't sure what he saw, but what he did know was that he lost neither fall, and should still be the Eurocontinental Champion. Tim told Kurt that the rules clearly stated that it was every man for himself, and that his result stood. White left, leaving Angle vexed and in denial about the title losses.

In the parking lot, Michael Cole caught a word with the overjoyed Eddie Guerrero and Chyna following Guerrero's win of the WWF European Championship earlier tonight. Eddie told Michael that it felt so good to be the champion of Europe - citing his ancient ancestors were descendants of Spain in Europe. Michael then asked 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' about her actions, turning on Chris Jericho the way she did. Chyna told Michael it doesn't take an intelligent man to figure it out - the fact is, Y2J is a loser, and although she resisted for as long as she could - she could just not resist "Latino Heat". Eddie was glowing, as they entered the lot hand-in-hand, where Eddie and Chyna hopped into a low-rider, driving off and leaving the Staples Center!

3 | Crash Holly def. Hardcore Holly (c) to win the WWF Hardcore Championship (4:08)
Following the controversial 13-man Hardcore Battle Royal last night at WrestleMania, Hardcore Holly was putting the WWF Hardcore Championship against his own cousin Crash tonight. For Crash, who has become something of a fixture of the the division and was the man behind the institution of a 24/7 rule, it was about re-earning his prize. Hardcore and Crash immediately argued and went at it, each exchanging hard shots with a trash can and a stop sign. Crash was busted open again, twenty-four hours after a hard shot cut him open in the Battle Royal, but despite this he remained resilient against his older cousin. Holly was about to put Crash away with the Falcon Arrow when Tazz hit the ring - the man Hardcore stole the title from in the closing seconds of that match - Tazz locking in the Tazzmission on Hardcore! Tazz looked to win the title, when Crash slammed a trash can over both men's heads, Crash stealing the win!

In a fashion so similar to how Hardcore Holly came to be WWF Hardcore Champion last night, Crash Holly had successfully regained the title tonight, perhaps with thanks to pay to Tazz in his interference here tonight! Crash hopped the barricade, proudly displaying his title - which he now held for a third time in his career! Tazz was mad, as was Hardcore, who were left behind having words in the ring.

In the locker room, Shane McMahon spoke with Big Show about a disappointing outcome in the Fatal 4-Way elimination match last night. The big man was not saddened about the loss however, Show telling Shane that he should be over the moon. He said that since Saturday Night Live several weeks ago, the phone has not stopped ringing; he was getting calls - the people want more of Big Show! He explained that tonight they were in Los Angeles, the City of Angels - which meant one thing and one thing only: tonight, the Big Show was live and in living color when he gives Hollywood exactly what they want! Show left, leaving Shane confused about what had just occurred.

We Are The Champions
Mid-ring in the Staples Center Michael Cole stood by as he discussed the match that tore the house down at WrestleMania twenty-four hours ago, of course talking about the Triangle Ladder match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. Cole called it one of the greatest matches of the new Millennium, before introducing the victors in the match. The new WWF Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian made their way down to the ring, dressed to impress whilst also covered in bandages - truly the souvenir of a chaotic and dangerous match that included ladders, tables and chairs. Cole attempted to ask the duo on their feelings about winning the Ladder match, but Edge and Christian quickly took over. Edge was disingenuous, claiming that they rocked the tag team division and that all six of them put in one hell of an effort. But Edge was sarcastic, and Christian repeatedly chimed in saying that the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz were "second-rate" and came up short to Edge and Christian. Though Edge spoke out, talking about one tag team that truly gave it their all and came so close - yet so far away! They were talking about the Hardy Boyz.

The Hardy Boyz made their way out to the rampway, Jeff and Matt not looking as worse for wear as Edge and Christian; whilst the WWF Tag Team Champions continued to talk about how great the Hardys were - but the fact remained if they weren't risking their bodies and seriously harming themselves, they could have taken the whole thing. Christian told the Hardy Boyz that it's alright to win silver, but that there is a long, fine line between silver and gold! The arrogance of the new champions had irked the Hardys, who now stormed down the rampway, but as Jeff and Matt approached the ring, the Dudley Boyz came from behind, attacking Edge and Christian! D-Von and Bubba Ray - the third team in the Triangle Ladder match - traded blows with the champs, when the Hardys got into it with the Dudleys! Jeff and Matt fought with D-Von and Bubba Ray, allowing Edge and Christian to slip out of the ring as fast as they could; Edge and Christian reminding the two sets of brothers in the ring that they were the winners at WrestleMania - and if they thought they could be as good as them, to think again because those titles weren't going anywhere. A wild transformation from Edge and Christian, who have only been champions for twenty-four hours!

〓〓〓

In the DX locker room Triple H was sat on a couch talking with X-Pac and Road Dogg, the World Wrestling Federation Champion continuing to discuss his problems with the Rock facing Vince and Shane McMahon tonight. X-Pac asked why he couldn't get involved where he pleased, being a matter of family. But 'the Game' confessed that Stephanie would be real mad at him. Road Dogg told Hunter that she may be, but he is the WWF Champion - and they are D-Generation X. They left Triple H to contemplate, seemingly caught up with an idea.

WER96kf.png

Footage aired from moments ago, recapping Edge and Christian's abrupt change of character, attacking the Hardy Boyz during their in-ring interview with Michael Cole. The Dudley Boyz hit the ring, looking for another opportunity at the WWF Tag Team Championship.

Birth of a Star
Back live, Kurt Angle continued to bicker about losing both the WWF Intercontinental and European Championships last night, but this time with Howard Finkel, who was the ring announcer last night. Kurt once again complained that he lost neither falls, and that he should still be the undisputed Eurocontinental Champion. After all, he is an 'American Hero'. But 'the Fink' was having none of it, telling Kurt that he should take it up with referee Tim white - all Howard did these days was call it like he saw it. Finkel left, once again leaving Angle scorned and bitter.

Val Venis waltzed down to the ring for his match against the Big Show, 'the Big Valbowski' immediately taking to the microphone to discuss how hot and raucous last night's Catfight was! Val asked how much the people liked watching the Kat and Terri rip each other apart - including their clothes! But he knew the ladies out there were really watching the guest referee in that match - sincerely yours, 'the Big Valbowski'. Val asked the women in Los Angeles if they wanted to star in Val's next Hollywood blockbuster, when the Big Show interrupted...dressed up as Val Venis! The Big Show declared himself as 'the Big Showbowski' and wowed the ladies by climbing into the ring and immediately talking about his package: Show whipping off his towel and wowing the ladies by revealing a large pair of Val Venis' trunks! Val whipped his towel off quick, not pleased by Show's imitation.

4 | The Big Showbowski def. Val Venis by disqualification (1:50)
We all heard the Big Show talk about how he wanted to take a new approach with all of the calls from directors he had been receiving since starring on Saturday Night Live several weeks ago, but by appearing as the world's largest chick magnet was something nobody in Los Angeles expected tonight! Val immediately hammered away at the impersonator - but the seven-foot giant clubbed back. Val was resilient and tried to chop Show down, just to get ousted from the ring, leaving Val frustrated. The Big Showbowski thrusted his hips to the screams of women in the audience, which set Venis off, coming from behind and low-blowing the Big Show!

Val Venis had appeared to lose his cool at the Big Show - or should we say, the Big Showbowski - but it appeared that the Big Show within was reawakened with the low blow. As the women booed Val for his outrage, the Big Show recovered quickly and immediately grabbed 'the Big Valbowski' by the throat - dropping him with a thunderous Showstopper! Show left as the man he was last night, but this time the people - ladies in particular - seemed to love him more.

〓〓〓

Too Cool were seen watching on a television what they had just witnessed, and Grandmaster Sexay was beside himself with laughter at the Big Show! Sexay mocked the Big Showkowski, calling him the world's largest clown whilst Scotty 2 Hotty thought it wasn't so bad. Sexay called Show a huge idiot, whereas Scotty told Sexay that they needed to head to the ring next, and show the Radicalz what was poppin' with Too Cool.

WER96kf.png

Al Snow was backstage with his Head Cheese comrade Steve Blackman, Al assuring 'the Lethal Weapon' that they may not have picked up the 'W' last night at WrestleMania, but they gave the fans a moment they won't ever forget when they destroyed Chester McCheeserton. Blackman wasn't so sure, not seeing the importance in entertainment over victory. Kurt Angle appeared, 'the American Hero' once again looking for anybody to complain to about the "unfair" two-fall Triple Threat match last night. But rather quickly, Chris Benoit showed up. The WWF Intercontinental Champion glared Angle in the eyes, as he told Kurt to quit running his mouth to everybody but him. 'The Canadian Crippler' told Kurt he'd give him his rematch tonight, before leaving. Angle scoffed, letting out a sarcastic thankyou to the new champion. Two titles have changed already tonight - could a third?
〓〓〓

Tonight, RAW is WAR is presented by FRAM, 1800-CALL-ATT, and Chef Boyardee's Stuffed Raviolli.

5 | Too Cool vs The Radicalz (Perry Saturn and WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko) ended in a no-contest (2:52)
Too Cool were victorious last night in six-person tag team action against the Radicalz, but the loss suffered by Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko surely fueled their fire headed into tag team action tonight. Scotty 2 Hotty in particular brought the fight to both Saturn and Malenko, but the numbers game was too much for Scotty and the technicians went to work on the legs of Scotty. But Scotty showed heart, and began to wow the capacity crowd with his agility - setting up for the Worm on Malenko. But before he had a chance to do so, the Big Show made his way down to the ring, immediately fending Saturn off and causing Malenko to roll out of the ring.

Scotty was frozen with fear when glancing up at the no-longer Big Showkowski, when 'the Big Nasty B*stard' turned to Grandmaster Sexay, dragging him into the ring! Show picked Sexay up by the throat, repeatedly asking him about his comments made about him moments ago, asking how much of a clown he was now! Show delivered the Showstopper to Sexay, whilst Scotty watched on - wisely leaving the ring in fear. Show stood in dominance when Rikishi Phatu made his way out to the ring to face off with Show! Too Cool were clearly not about to go after the Big Show - but somebody of Rikishi's size wasn't about to back down from a fight! Show stared the Samoan down before leaving on his own accord, leaving Rikishi and Scotty to tend to the fallen Grandmaster Sexay.

〓〓〓

Outside of his dressing room Kevin Kelly was standing by with the Rock. He attempted to ask the Rock about tonight's handicap match and dissension among the McMahon-Helmsley alliance, but Rock hushed him in no time. He mocked Kevin Kelly's question and said that what it came down to was how much the Rock cared about the alliance, how he couldn't give a monkey cr*p about what Triple H said to Vince, what Stephanie said to Vince, what Shane said to the Big Showkowski - it doesn't matter. Because one way or another, they were all getting their candy asses beat by the Rock, and it starts tonight against the McMahons. Rock insinuated there was more than meets the eye with Vince and Shane, father and son. But tonight, the Rock was going to give Hollywood a show that included whooping their candy asses, and when that was all said and done, he was coming back for the gold - he was coming back for Triple H.

WER96kf.png

6 | Kane (w/Paul Bearer) def. Big Bossman (w/Bull Buchanan) (2:42)
'The Big Red Machine' had an eventful night at the grandest stage in sports entertainment. He was successful in teaming with Rikishi Phatu to defeat longtime rivals X-Pac and Road Dogg, but on top of that Kane, for a third consecutive year, sent Pete Rose on a one-way trip to Hell with a Tombstone Piledriver. But he wasn't the only one with success, as the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan scored what some would call an upset victory against the Godfather and D-Lo Brown. Tonight, Bossman tried to match up with Kane and even with distractions from Buchanan, could not quite get the job done. Finally Buchanan distracted the referee, which allowed Bossman to use the nightstick - but the prison guard from Atlanta, Georgia regardless found himself subjected to a big Chokeslam from 'the Big Red Machine', for the win.

Kane stood tall and looked to raise his arms for the fire and brimstone to follow, but instead Bull Buchanan jumped him from behind with a shot from the nightstick! Buchanan nailed Kane again with it, causing 'the Big Red Machine' to crumble through the ropes to the floor, and Buchanan wouldn't let up with his ambush! Buchanan scared off Kane's father, Paul Bearer, before looking to exact more punishment but Kane fired back! The brawl continued, but Bossman jumped Kane from behind - the two prison guards hammering on Kane! Kane fought back, knocking Buchanan down and causing Bossman to retreat up the side of the entrance-way - this fight going to the back!

〓〓〓

With the cameras losing the brawl between Kane, the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan, we went to Vince and Shane McMahon, who were talking strategy about tonight's match with the Rock. Shane seemed more nervous than earlier, to which his father explained was just butterflies. Shane asked Vince what to do against Rock, whom he managed as recent as twenty-four hours ago. The Chairman hesitantly told Shane to watch out for the Rock Bottom, before shrugging and leaving. Shane asked how that was real advice.

WER96kf.png

Back live on RAW is WAR and the fight between Kane and the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan continued! The prison guards had 'the Big Red Machine' on all fours as Buchanan held Kane for a clubbing with the nightstick from Bossman! Bossman and Buchanan had managed to beat down Kane, when the Acolytes showed up, Bradshaw and Faarooq causing Bossman and Buchanan to retreat from the scene of the crime! The Acolyte Protection Agency were in business, as they told Bossman and Buchanan to buck up their ideas in future, because they were coming for them!
〓〓〓

7 | Chris Benoit (c) def. Kurt Angle to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship (5:35)
Kurt Angle's luck had changed, being issued this rematch against Chris Benoit tonight. 'The American Hero' had been beside himself over losing both the WWF Intercontinental and European Championships last night to Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho - but despite complaining to referee Tim White and ring announcer Howard Finkel, it took Benoit confronting him to get his rematch. Angle and Benoit, both skilled on the mat, went pound-for-pound with the Olympic Gold Medalist managing to gain control. 'The Canadian Crippler' however took Angle to work with submissions, a cross-armbreaker almost costing Angle the match, had it not been for the bottom rope. Angle went on the defense, managing to block the Crippler Crossface, and Angle managed to hit the Olympic Slam, but this time Benoit's foot was on the ropes! Angle went bezerk at Tim White, calling claims of a conspiracy - which in turn allowed Benoit to roll Angle up, retaining the title!

Chris Benoit backed up the ramp with the WWF Intercontinental Championship, his first defense coming successful despite Kurt Angle's best efforts! Angle was furious, in disbelief that he had lost to 'the Canadian Crippler' twice in two nights - and 'the American Hero' wasted no time getting in Tim White's face once again! Angle claimed that he trusted Tim, but White wasn't hearing any of it. The referee turned his back, and this allowed Angle to reach from behind and lock the helpless referee in a Chickenwing Crossface! Angle finally relented, but this wasn't going to change the fact Kurt Angle was no longer a double champion.

〓〓〓

The McMahons were seen walking the halls backstage, moments away from the biggest handicap match in recent memory. Shane was looking at his father Vince for some confidence, to which the Chairman ignored his plight, telling Shane to hang in there - the Rock was going down, McMahon-style!

WER96kf.png

8 | The Rock def. Vince and Shane McMahon in a Handicap match (6:03)
After the vote of confidence Vince McMahon had shown in the Rock leading up to WrestleMania all a part of the plan from the newly united McMahon-Helmsley alliance, the Rock wanted nothing more than to get his hands on Vince and Shane after last night's screwjob at WrestleMania. The Rock did exact some revenge following the loss to Triple H in the WWF Championship Fatal 4-Way elimination match - but this was a sanctioned World Wrestling Federation match, and in Hollywood the Rock was the hero in everybody's mind. Shane attempted to handle Rock to start, but 'the Brahma Bull' easily took care of him and allowed Shane to tag in his father to wrestle. Vince and Rock sized up, but Shane wisely came from behind - this being a ploy as Vince and Shane bombarded Rock with rights and lefts! Vince postured around whilst Shane interfered where necessary. Despite this, Rock - with much more ring experience than both McMahon combined - fired back, and delivered a Spinebuster to Shane, followed by a Spinebuster to Vince! Rock looked for the People's Elbow, but X-Pac and Road Dogg hit the ring! Rock sent X-Pac flying over the top, then traded blows with Road Dogg - this handicap match appearing to be over!

The Rock delivered the Rock Bottom to Road Dogg, when Vince low blowed 'the Brahma Bull' from behind! Shane then followed suit, dropping Rock with a Rock Bottom of his own! So much for his nerves, Shane McMahon was on top of the world after ousting Rock with his own move! Suddenly, out came Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, the WWF and Women's Champions greeting their family in the ring, where 'the Game' happily hugged his father-in-law and brother-in-law! Triple H then took to stomping away at the Rock, 'the Game' talking trash to Rock that this was their world! He looked to plant Rock with a Pedigree, but Rock back dropped the WWF Champion over the top rope! Rock scared the three McMahons from the ring, before dishing out a Rock Bottom to X-Pac! Rock stood tall on the second rope, glaring down the McMahon-Helmsley alliance - and it was clear that he wanted the WWF Championship!

SmackDown! #33 - April 6, 2000
San Jose Arena in San Jose, California
Broadcast on UPN - Taped on April 4, 2000

xL7OMpT.png

Thursday Night SmackDown! on UPN kicked off from the DX Bus, where World Wrestling Federation Champion Triple H alongside his wife, WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, Road Dogg, X-Pac and Tori arrived at the Arena in San Jose. D-Generation X appeared to be in high spirits, despite coming up short in an ambush attempt on the Rock this past Monday night on RAW. What did DX have in mind for 'the Brahma Bull' tonight?

The opening video package concluded, triggering a vibrant firework dispay for the capacity crowd here in San Jose! Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler discussed the events following WrestleMania, as tonight the Big Show will do battle with Rikishi Phatu; and the Dudley Boyz will take on the Hardy Boyz, three nights removed from a hellacious Triangle Ladder match!

  • Big Show vs Rikishi Phatu
  • The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz
Kurt Angle made his way down to the ring, 'the American Hero' coming off of a loss of epic proportions in losing the two-fall Triple Threat match at WrestleMania, which cost him both the WWF Intercontinental and European Championships. Angle addressed the crowd as he walked, saying it had not been a great week and that even an Olympic Gold Medalist like himself was man enough to admit it. Not only did he lose his titles to Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho at WrestleMania on Sunday, but he lost his cool when referee Tim White cost him his rematch this past Monday on RAW is WAR. Angle brought up a replay showing himself arguing with White - which led to Benoit rolling Angle up to retain the title - before locking the helpless referee in the Crossface Chickenwing. Angle said it was unbecoming of a man with intensity, integrity and intelligence. Angle introduced Tim White out to the ring to officiate his match, vowing that he would never lay a finger on White again - also claiming that sooner than later he would once more be a champion of the people: the Eurocontinental Champion.

1 | Kurt Angle def. The Godfather (w/Hos) (3:23)
The people of San Jose loved to see the Godfather accompanied by his Hos, but tonight 'the Pimp Daddy' was riding solo as it was announced that D-Lo Brown was not here due to a family emergency. Tim White appeared hesitant around Kurt Angle, who appeared to have turned a new leaf, following White's rulings throughout the match and cutting off his opponent. Godfather attempted to make a comeback, but when Angle dodged the Ho Train he delivered a German suplex. Angle got back to his winning ways with an Olympic Slam for the three count!

Kurt Angle celebrated triumphantly, raising an intimidated Tim White's hand with excitement. Angle even hugged the nervous official, as it appeared despite losing the WWF European and Intercontinental Championships last Sunday at WrestleMania, the man with the "Three Is" was back to his old self tonight.

In the lobby Vince and Shane McMahon were discussing how great last Monday was. The Rock may have bested them, but tonight was a different night. Shane admitted it felt great being side by side with his old man on RAW. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley showed up, accompanied by D-Generation X - and it appeared this McMahon-Helmsley faction were headed for the ring!

xL7OMpT.png

For the Greater Good
We returned to SmackDown! to see D-Generation X making their way to the ring, led by the WWF Champion Triple H and WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. X-Pac, his girlfriend Tori and Road Dogg followed, as last Monday night on RAW was recapped showing DX's involvement in the handicap main event between the Rock and the McMahons. Upon entry, the boss's daughter took the microphone as she demanded these people give D-Generation X the appreciation they deserved! After all, her husband and his friends were the people that saved her family from a vicious assault last Monday night at the hands of the malicious 'Brahma Bull'. The fans chanted "assh*le" in the champ's way, whilst calling Stephanie a "sl*t" much to her chagrin. Stephanie continued to talk about the Rock, claiming that she was still sore and shouldn't even be here tonight after the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow endured at WrestleMania. But like her father and her brother, she was a fighter and a survivor. She was lucky to be married to a man like her husband: the unbeaten WWF Champion, Triple H! 'The Game' smirked at his wife's kind words before taking over. Triple H said that this was all one big experiment that was going on day by day with the McMahons.

Triple H said he wouldn't lie - never did he think there would be a day where the McMahon Family and D-Generation X would stand all as one against a common threat - but the Rock had brought out the best in all of them. The McMahon-Helmsley faction had aligned all thanks to him. Whether anybody liked it or not, Triple H was the leader that the World Wrestling Federation needed - and the Rock wasn't! For the greater good of this great company, DX and the McMahons stand united against the Rock, and anybody else that wants to challenge them in the future! The McMahons soon made their way down to the ring, the WWF Chairman Vince and his son Shane - both apparently feeling the effects of Monday's handicap match with the Rock. Upon entering, Triple H hugged his father-in-law, the rivals showing off, as Shane hugged his sister. The McMahons conversed with X-Pac, Tori and Road Dogg as Vince took over, telling Triple H that every single word he said was true! It may have taken him a while to figure it out - but it was all for the greater good of the company! Vince said so long as the Rock stood in their way, the McMahons and the Helmsley clan would be banded together to combat 'the People's Champ' - and make sure he would never, ever hold the World Wrestling Federation Championship again!

Vince joked that Rock was a foul excuse for a human being. Not only was he a barbarian that likes to beat up on women like Stephanie; innocent bystanders such as his son Shane; or his employer. The Rock also had an infatuation with shoving things up people's asses! Vince talked about what comes out of a person's ass - fecal matter. And as he had proven time and time again, asses weren't the only thing in which fecal matter came from - because every word out of the Rock's mouth was full of crap! The people chanted "assh*le" at the boss, who demanded they shut up! Vince said that he and Shane came up just a little short on Monday, but that was not to say the Rock was out of the woods. Tonight on SmackDown!, it would be the Rock in another handicap match: and this time, he would be up against X-Pac and Road Dogg of D-Generation X! Tonight, when DX reigned supreme and 'the People's Champ' had fallen, true justice would be served when the Rock stared up at the bright lights, and the McMahon-Helmsley faction stood tall over his carcass! Another unfair disadvantage had been placed in the Rock's path - another roadblock between he and the WWF Championship!

Kevin Kelly was in the locker room with the Dudley Boyz, moments before another showdown against the Hardy Boyz. Kevin asked Bubba Ray and D-Von their thoughts about Jeff and Matt Hardy, and where they saw themselves in the tag title hunt. Bubba said simply that their focus was on regaining the WWF Tag Team Championships, which was why tonight they were going to go out there and beat the Hardys - then come for Edge and Christian. D-Von testified, as the Dudleys were set for action next.

xL7OMpT.png

The 'WWF Slam of the Week' was presented by Castrol GTX - Drive Hard. Footage aired, courtesy of WWF Home Video, from WrestleMania four nights ago. Jeff Hardy sailed from the heavens with the Swanton Bomb for a twenty-foot ladder, crashing through Bubba Ray Dudley on a table.

2 | The Hardy Boyz def. The Dudley Boyz (5:50)
Four nights removed from the Triangle Ladder match for the WWF Tag Team Championships, the four men unsuccessful against Edge and Christian went at it. Jeff and Matt competed as a well oiled machine against D-Von early, but quickly the brute force of the Dudleys fought back, working over Matt. Jeff made the tag and ran wild, but fell victim to a full nelson bomb from Bubba. It appeared that the 3D was nigh when Christian hit the ring to distract the referee, which allowed Edge to swoop in and clock Bubba Ray with the Tag title! Jeff hit the Swanton Bomb to give the Hardys the win!

Edge and Christian had cost the Dudley Boyz this match; the newfound arrogance of the new WWF Tag Team Champions on full display as they high-fived outside of the ring. Little did they expect the victorious Hardy Boyz to come flying over the top rope with stereo-planchas! Jeff and Matt rained punches down on the champions, causing Edge and Christian to flee up the rampway in shock. In the ring, the Dudleys remained, glaring daggers in the champs' direction as well. This three-team war was far from over.

Backstage cameras caught up with the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan, who were storming into the locker room of the Acolytes, furious about what went down on Monday. Buchanan tipped over a wooden bench bringing Bradshaw and Faarooq to confront the prison guards. Bossman raised his nightstick towards them, furious the Acolytes got in their way of making an example out of 'the Big Red Machine' on RAW. Buchanan challenged them to a fight, telling the boys their Protection Agency may be a good idea - but who was going to protect them from Bossman and Buchanan? Bradshaw fired back telling the guards they were in for the ass-kicking of a lifetime tonight!

In the parking lot, the low-rider of Eddie Guerrero pulled up, and the new WWF European Champion hopped out. 'Latino Heat' was riding in style with his new "mamacita" Chyna, whom he opened the door for. He watched as 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' stepped out, Eddie kissing the hand of the amazon - Eddie commenting on what a magical few days it had been!

xL7OMpT.png

Returning to UPN, Trish Stratus walked with T&A behind her. Trish commented on the disgusting comments the Godfather said about her on RAW, but Test justified that they taught the Godfather and D-Lo Brown a lesson. Albert reasoned she was nothing like any of his disgusting Hos, when the imposing duo overhead Kaientai laughing, repeating the word "Ho". The two confronted Taka Michinoku and Sho Funaki, asking what they just said. In broken English, Taka and Funaki claimed that Trish was in fact, a Ho! Trish was offended, as Albert warned Kaientai that they had just made the worst mistake of their lives. Test threatened tonight to send them back to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Elsewhere Hardcore Holly stomped the corridors, where he came across Kevin Kelly. The former WWF Hardcore Champion ordered Kelly to shut up, demanding to know if he had seen his cousin Crash. Kevin said he saw him a half hour ago, but wasn't sure where he went. Holly told Kevin to report to him immediately. Meanwhile, in the background saw Crash Holly cowering behind a luggage crate!

Love and Hard Feelings
Latino fever was in the air, as the new WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero held hands with his new "mamacita" Chyna. After the two hooked up on RAW is WAR, where Chyna cost longtime ally Chris Jericho the title, Eddie and Chyna stood together in the ring. Reminiscing over a replay of Eddie and Chyna leaving in the low rider together, 'Latino Heat' confided in her this was the happiest he'd ever been. Not only has he the one title that had eluded him his entire career, but he had finally captured the heart of the hottest lady in the World Wrestling Federation - Mamacita! Chyna appeared infatuated with Eddie as she said she felt similarly. Eddie was the greatest she had ever been with, in more ways than one. 'The Ninth Wonder of the World' compared Chris Jericho to Eddie, how Y2J was all-talk and no action. He never had the balls to ask her out, and when he tried to come onto her, it was as clear as day he didn't have an ounce of attraction in his putrid body! Chyna called Eddie her 'Latino Heat' and that Eddie was a god in the bedroom, whilst Y2J couldn't even get it up for 'the Ninth Wonder in the World'. Chris Jericho crashed the coming out party for 'Latino Heat' and 'Mamacita', the former WWF European Champion arriving on the rampway, telling Chyna and Eddie they were a great couple!

With the combination of deep-fried grease coming from Eddie's disgusting mullet, combined with the chiseled features of 'the Ninth Wonder of the World's, the pair had the makings of a future Mexican lovechild named Pablo! 'The Millennium Man' diffused rumors of him ever seeing anything in Chyna, but turned his attention to Eddie's obsession with 'Mamacita'. Y2J questioned who the man was in their relationship, which infuriated Guerrero! Chris turned his attention to the title around Eddie's waist - saying he didn't give a damn about his Spanish ancestors, Eddie had something that he wanted back - and it wasn't the six-four gargantuan towering over him in the ring! Eddie was ready to go, but Chyna snatched the microphone from her 'Latino Heat'. Telling Y2J if it was a fight he wanted - a fight he'd get, with Chyna - right now! Eddie was shocked, and Y2J was more than game for redemption!

xL7OMpT.png

'The Boot of the Week' was presented by WWF and Lugz - Decide & Conquer. Footage aired from RAW is WAR, recapping Chyna betraying thought-to-be ally Chris Jericho. Costing Y2J the WWF European Championship, 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' flocked the building with enemy Eddie Guerrero, beginning a budding romance.

3 | Chyna (w/WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero) def. Chris Jericho (4:15)
'The Ninth Wonder of the World's' betrayal of Y2J in favor of her new love interest, Eddie Guerrero had allowed 'Latino Heat' to capture the WWF European Championship three nights ago. This was Jericho's chance for revenge, and despite Chyna's powerful arsenal, he flew circles around her. Eddie watched nervously biting his nails, as Y2J attempted the springboard moonsault, but Eddie got on the apron for the distraction - only to receive a springboard dropkick! Jericho tried for the Walls of Jericho, but Eddie tripped Jericho, allowing Chyna to take the win with a Sleeper Slam for the upset!

Eddie Guerrero played innocent at ringside, ecstatic that 'Mamacita' had knocked off a victory against Chris Jericho! The WWF European Champion celebrated by kissing Chyna's hand on one knee, but suddenly she dipped Eddie for a French kiss like on RAW. Unexpectedly, Y2J came back with a dropkick sending Eddie out of the ring! Chyna went down, and Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho! 'The Ninth Wonder of the World' was tapping, as Eddie clasped hands with 'Mamacita!' Finally referees managed to pull Jericho away from her, as Eddie helped Chyna out of the ring. Jericho stood tall - having found the revenge he had been looking for.

From a close-up of Rikishi Phatu's cheeks walking, Scotty 2 Hotty walked and talked with the big man in disbelief about what happened to Grandmaster Sexay on RAW. Scotty said the Big Show hurt Grandmaster bad, and that he'd be on the shelf for a few weeks. Rikishi remained cool, calm and collected as he stopped to remove his sunglasses. Assuring Scotty that tonight he was going to back it up, and beat the Big Show for Grandmaster. They bumped fists before parting ways.

xL7OMpT.png

WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley was at the water cooler talking with Tori about their lives behind closed doors with Triple H and X-Pac. Stephanie spoke of 'the Game' as "a real lion" in bed, telling her that he was a primate and she felt like his prey - but passionate all the same. Tori sipped her water, commenting on how X-Pac was the same: he tied her up last night and poured hot wax all over her. Stephanie was creeped out, awkwardly drinking her water.

SmackDown! was presented by Arizon Jean Co.; RC Edge - Not Just Cola, It's Power Cola; and PhoneFree.com - Let Freedom Ring.

4 | The Acolytes def. Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan by disqualification (2:33)
The two prison guards took it upon themselves to attempt to assault 'the Big Red Machine' after the bell on Monday night; the two-on-one beating reaching backstage for the Acolytes saved the day. This bout was a barn-burner as expected, with Bradshaw and Faarooq going right at it with the corrupt guards! The Acolytes weren't playing around, when Buchanan desperately slid a nightstick to Bossman, who slammed it into the side of Faarooq's skull!

Hell's Bells
The Big Bossman pounded on Faarooq whilst Bradshaw attempted to make the save, just for Bull Buchanan to jump Bradshaw. The guards hammered away at the Acolytes San Jose Arena was engulfed in flames! Kane stormed the ring by Paul Bearer, but Bossman and Buchanan retreated to the floor upon his entry. Kane stood beside a recuperating Bradshaw and Faarooq, setting off his pyrotechnics.

▃▃▃

In his locker room, Shane McMahon remarked how impressed he was with what the Big Show did last Monday on RAW. Not only did he do Val Venis' shtick even better than 'the Big Valbowski', but he knocked Grandmaster Sexay right out of action! Shane called Show a genius, but Show told Shane he hadn't seen anything yet. Everybody was going to see what he had up his sleeve when he battled Rikishi Phatu! Show left, leaving Shane amazed - the battle of the big men was up next.

xL7OMpT.png

Earlier today, Al Snow was seen in a nearby community with Steve Blackman. 'The Lethal Weapon' wanted to know why they were here and not at the Arena, but Al told Steve he wanted to teach him the importance of entertainment value. Al said it wasn't always about competition and winning matches that got you "over", but how much you entertained the people. Blackman believed this was dumb, but Al told Steve to follow him. They walked into a building - the camera panning up to reveal it a sign reading "Sunny Days Residential Home".

▃▃▃

The 'WWF Rewind' was presented by RC Edge: Not Just Cola, It's Power Cola. Footage aired from RAW is WAR, where Big Show turned a new leaf. Dressed identical to his opponent Val Venis, 'the Big Showbowski' cleaned house of 'the Big Valbowski', and later took Grandmaster Sexay out of action.

5 | Showkishi def. Rikishi Phatu (3:51)
Hot off the set of Saturday Night Live, the Big Show expanded his portfolio once again. Dressed in gear identical to Rikishi's, the pasty white cheeks of 'the Big Showbowski' disturbed fans. After taking out Grandmaster Sexay, Show was met by Rikishi, who refused to shy from the giant. Managing to power Show up for a Samoan drop, he rebounded, splashing Rikishi in the corner and attempting the Stinkface - just to receive a low blow, unspotted by the official! Rikishi gave Showkishi a Stinkface of his own - but the fun was over as far as he was concerned: a massive Chokeslam dropping the 400-pounder!

Go Showkishi
The Big Show was dominant in a unique victory, continuing to add to his resumé. Jerry Lawler claimed it was proving Show had range to the directors of Hollywood, when the giant grabbed a microphone and demanded they play Rikishi's music! The lights dimmed red as he popped on a pair of Phatu's sunglasses - beginning to dance how Phatu did, to the amazement of the San Jose crowd!

▃▃▃

In the McMahon-Helmsley dressing room Vince McMahon hung out with Triple H, X-Pac and Road Dogg. The WWF Champion talked about how the Rock didn't know what he was in for against D-Generation X. Vince said he could dig it. Road Dogg and X-Pac explained what they planned to do to 'the Brahma Bull'. Vince said he could "feel it, playas". This confused DX, and 'the Game' asked Vince if he was feeling okay. McMahon explained he wanted to be "down with the kids" and said that the Rock was "getting got" tonight on "SmackDizzle"! X-Pac cracked up, bringing Triple H to slap him on the shoulder to stop. The relations between the McMahons and DX were strengthening ahead of another handicap main event for the Rock.

Speaking of, the Rock remained in his locker room. A shot of his logo on the dressing room door proved he was here, and you had to imagine that 'the Brahma Bull' had his mind set on combating D-Generation X and the McMahon Family tonight.

An advertisement aired, promoting WWF.com - Download This!

Al Snow sat in a leisure hall with a group of geriatric residents, part of the Sunny Days Residential Home. The group heckled Steve Blackman, who robotically read out cue cards and attempted to do stand-up comedy. Snow was the only person laughing, and another elderly lady was telling Blackman how much he stunk! 'The Lethal Weapon' complained the jokes made no sense whatsoever, as the heckling old lady finally got Blackman to stop - met with a burning glare.

6 | Tazz vs Hardcore Holly ended in a no contest (3:28)
Both had gotten in the other's way at WrestleMania in the WWF Hardcore Championship Battle Royal. 'The Human Suplex Machine' Tazz and Hardcore Holly were having a hard-hitting exchange, where Holly dropkicked Tazz, but the Alabama native found himself in deep trouble when Tazz brought out the suplexes. Despite Holly's attempt at the Falcon Arrow, the Tazzmission was locked in! Holly struggled, when Crash Holly came through the crowd, causing Tazz to break the hold and pursue him!

Every Man For Himself
Crash Holly did a U-turn to cower from Tazz, running around the ringside area. The WWF Hardcore Champion was chased around ringside, when Hardcore Holly recovered and left the ring, clotheslining 'the Human Suplex Machine!' Crash put the boots to Tazz and was grateful, though Hardcore then clotheslined him down hard! He went for the cover, but Tazz and Hardcore resumed their brawl allowing the WWF Hardcore Champion to escape through the crowd! Family, friend or foe - where the 24/7 rule counted - it was every man for himself!

Everybody's Had a Piece
Kevin Kelly
caught up with Chris Jericho in the hallway after being screwed out of his match with Chyna. Jericho called Kevin "Kieran" and told him it felt good to get a little payback on the gargantuan father of the Mex-American lovechild "Pablo", Chyna - but that didn't change the fact that he wanted the WWF European Championship back. He was interrupted by Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley; the WWF Women's Champion stopped in the hall. He commented how nice she looked tonight - before remarking that she looked extremely tarty. He said he'd seen her walking the halls, surely going from man to man, man to woman, old man to husband, to young adult! But, if she thought she could have a taste of Y2J, she had another thing coming to her! Steph was shocked, as Jericho told her there was one thing Jericho knew about McMahon-Helmsley - and that was that she was a filthy, dirty, disgusting, bottom-feeding trashbag ho! Stephanie warned Jericho that it would be a horrible thing to have to strip what was left of Jericho's dignity away from him. Y2J mocked her as she departed, in high spirits. Was insulting 'the Game's wife a good idea?

xL7OMpT.png

It was a dry night in San Jose, California, as an exterior shot took us outside of the sold-out San Jose Arena - the home of tonight's edition of SmackDown!

7 | T&A (w/Trish Stratus) def. Kaientai (2:16)
Test and Albert were defending the honor of their manager Trish Stratus, after being insulted by Taka Michinoku and Funaki. T&A weren't expecting Kaientai to put up such a fight, as Funaki almost rolled Test up for a two-count, whilst Michinoku caught both members of T&A with an Asai moonsault! Despite Kaientai's best efforts with the people behind them, Trish slapped Taka across the face on the apron, before Test planted Taka with a pumphandle slam.

T&A had scored a second victory this week tonight against Kaientai, but most importantly to them, Trish Stratus' honor remained intact. Test and Albert weren't yet finished with the Japanese Superstars however, as Trish got into the ring and once again slapped an unconscious Taka across the face. She directed traffic, ordering Albert to splash Funaki in the corner, before dishing out a brutal chokebomb, leaving Kaientai mangled in the ring!

▃▃▃

The Acolytes were in the locker room, Bradshaw and Faarooq recuperating from the nightstick beating from Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan. Up stomped Kane, Paul Bearer behind him. Paul told them to relax, before holding up a wad of cash. Bradshaw reluctantly took Bearer's money, as Faarooq noted the Acolyte Protection Agency was in business. Bradshaw got a beer from their cooler and offered it to Kane, who hesitated before cracking open a cold one with the Acolytes!

▃▃▃

The Rock came bursting out of his dressing room for the first time tonight! 'The People's Champ' had been here all day - but it was time to put up or shut up, as the handicap match against D-Generation X awaits next!

7 | The Rock def. X-Pac and Road Dogg (w/WWF Champion Triple H, WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Tori) by disqualification (7:20)
The Rock's rebellion against the newly formed McMahon-Helmsley faction saw him with a head full of steam and the WWF Championship on his mind. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley watched from ringside as Rock turned his attention to the WWF Champion, allowing X-Pac and Road Dogg to go on the attack. D-Generation X looked good but Rock resiliently fired back! Tori got on the apron and was dragged into the ring, just to be saved by Road Dogg! He hit the Pumphandle Drop, but Rock powered out at two! X-Pac closed in, just to receive a Samoan drop, and Road Dogg got blasted from the ring! The Rock spinebustered X-Pac and signalled for the People's Elbow - when Triple H hit the ring!

Overcoming the Odds
The bell sounded, as Triple H pounded away at the Rock. D-Generation X recovered, aiding to a fallen Tori. 'The Game' wouldn't let up, but Rock made a miraculous comeback - just to be cut off by X-Pac and Road Dogg! The two held Rock down whilst the WWF Champion rubbed the title in his face, telling Rock he wasn't getting his title. Triple H sucker punched Rock before looking at going for a Pedigree, but Rock back dropped H and clotheslined X-Pac to the floor! Road Dogg received a Rock Bottom, whilst Triple H fled the scene! Rock stood tall in the ring, whilst DX watched from the ringside area in disbelief! Rock was high on energy, ready to take on anybody in his way of regaining the WWF Championship!

Vince and Shane McMahon watched the action on a monitor in their office, as Shane asked his father what to do next. The WWF Chairman chuckled, telling Shane that the Rock would go down on Monday night. What did the McMahon-Helmsley faction have in store for Rock on RAW?

Jakked #32 - April 8, 2000
Staples Center in Los Angeles, California
Broadcast in syndication - taped on April 3, 2000

Jonathan Coachman and Kevin Kelly called the action tonight on WWF Jakked.

1 | The Acolytes def. The Mean Street Posse (Rodney and Joey Abs) (w/Pete Gas) (3:22) [Broadcast on WWF Metal]
Following the Acolytes' involvement in Bull Buchanan and the Big Bossman's business this past Monday night on RAW is WAR, Bradshaw and Faarooq had business to take care of in the form of the Mean Street Posse, straight outta Greenwich. Rodney and Joey Abs had Pete Gas distract Faarooq which enabled the Posse to take control, but Faarooq finished Abs off with the Dominator.

〰〰〰

2 | Al Snow (w/Steve Blackman) def. Mideon (4:29) [Broadcast on WWF Metal]
Despite the shortcomings of Head Cheese, Al Snow and Steve Blackman looked to get back into the swing of things against Mideon. While Snow tried to teach 'the Lethal Weapon' how to entertain the people, against Mideon it appeared Blackman was teaching Al how to sustain punishment. Mideon looked for the Eyeopener when Blackman tossed his nun-chucks into the ring. The distraction allowed Snow to use them for the win!

〰〰〰

3 | Essa Rios (w/Lita) def. Mosh (w/Thrasher) (3:40) [Broadcast on WWF Metal]
At twenty-one years of age, Essa Rios had already achieved a lot by becoming WWF Light Heavyweight Champion. In an insert promo from the luchador, Essa - with translations provided by Lita - expressed in Spanish his outrage at being neglected from WrestleMania 2000. Mosh was on a roll early, but things changed following Lita's help at ringside. Lita even caught Thrasher off-guard late in the match with a flying headscissors from the apron! Even Mosh was surprised, and this allowed Rios to catch the Headbanger in a rolling clutch cover to steal the win.

Essa Rios hugged Lita at ringside, whilst Mosh and Thrasher remained in the ring. The Headbangers were furious at the nerve of his cheating ways. With a bright future in sight, Essa with Lita by his side were proving to be a winning combination.

〰〰〰

4 | Rikishi Phatu def. Gangrel (4:15)
Rikishi Phatu has had a rollercoaster of a week and looked to cap it off with a win over the vampire Gangrel, who came at him with hard-hitting offense. Gangrel shockingly delivered a belly-to-belly suplex to the big man, but Rikishi Phatu was soon able to make a comeback and deliver the Rikishi Driver for the win.

Not happy with the victory, Rikishi Phatu let loose on a Saturday night, and immediately splashed Gangrel with his rear end in the corner after the match! The vampire went down, and Rikishi backed it up - the Stinkface for Gangrel! Rikishi sent the viewers home happy with a Saturday night boogie to the Too Cool theme.

San Jose Arena in San Jose, California
Broadcast on the USA Network - Taped on April 4, 2000

Michael Cole and Jonathan Coachman called the action tonight on Sunday Night HeAT.

1 | Scotty 2 Hotty def. Perry Saturn (w/WWF Light Heavyweight Champion Dean Malenko) (5:27)
With Grandmaster Sexay incapacitated by Showkishi on SmackDown!, Scotty went solo against Perry Saturn. Dean Malenko spectated from ringside as the Saturn took Scotty to the mat and used the size advantage. Things turned in Scotty's favor, avoiding an attack from the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion on the apron, then shoving Saturn into Malenko, knocking him down to the floor! Scotty 2 Hotty capitalized with a cradle to get the win!

Dean Malenko was in disbelief, as Scotty 2 Hotty celebrated his win on the rampway - Perry Saturn furious with the loss! The WWF Light Heavyweight Champion apologized to his Radicalz comrade mid-ring, amidst what had to be considered an upset.

✸✸✸

Earlier today Jonathan Coachman met with Val Venis to discuss what went down on RAW is WAR. 'The Big Valbowski' talked about feeling insulted by the impersonation of the Big Show, saying that not only was the Big Show a gigantic pile of cellulite, but he could never satisfy the ladies like he did. As for getting cast in one of his movies, Val said to consider his application denied. Moving forward, Val had his eyes on the prize, and he planned to continue satisfying ladies around the world. Stevie Richards interrupted the master of impersonations dressed up as 'the Big Valbowski' as well! He let out a loud "Hello Ladies", cringing Venis out. Val said there were no ladies here, and that Stevie would be the last person to impersonate him after their match tonight.

gX2kwuH.png

2 | Jacqueline def. Terri (w/the Fabulous Moolah) in a Number One Contender's match (2:33)
The former WWF Women's Champion had redemption on her mind, up against the victor of the Catfight seven days ago at WrestleMania, Terri. Accompanied by the Fabulous Moolah, Terri was not dressed for competition and was in for more than she bargained for against the former champ. Moolah proved to be a distraction as Terri delivered a hair-pull matslam, but when she covered, a problem arose at ringside as Mae Young came down to argue with Moolah! As this went on, Jackie connected with a back suplex for the win!

Terri was in outrage over the loss, whilst Jacqueline left the ring. The Fabulous Moolah engaged in a hair tug-of-war with Mae Young, but Mae slammed her head into Terri's! Mae stood tall with her fists raised, revenge on behalf of the Kat after how the Catfight turned out!

✸✸✸

Mark Henry sat talking with the Headbangers when in walked Chris Benoit. The WWF Intercontinental Champion stepped up to 'Sexual Chocolate', telling Mark what he really had to focus on was 'the Canadian Crippler'. Benoit said they had a match tonight, and if Henry was sat shooting the breeze, he'd be better off forfeiting the match. Benoit insulted Mark calling him a waste of time, bringing Henry to stand up and stare the champion down. Mark told Benoit he couldn't wait to teach his sorry ass a lesson!
  • TONIGHT - WWF Intercontinental Championship - Chris Benoit (c) vs Mark Henry

gX2kwuH.png

Val Venis made his way to the ring for singles action tonight on HeAT, where 'the Big Valbowski' introduced himself to the beautiful ladies of San Jose. But before Val could continue, his music hit once again as out came Stevie Richards, also dressed in a towel! Richards flaunted his way to the ring similar to Val Venis, as he introduced himself to the ladies of San Jose. Richards asked who wanted to get down 'n' dirty with Stevie tonight, but Val immediately snatched the microphone and threw it out of the ring. This match was personal for Val.

3 | Val Venis def. Stevie Richards (2:55)
Stevie Richards had been impersonating other WWF Superstars longer than the Big Show had, but Val Venis was insulted by Show and Stevie's cheap imitations of what 'the Big Valbowski' was all about. Richards remained in control early, using an arsenal of high-flying attacks including a missile dropkick. Val wasn't playing around anymore, and put Stevie away with a fishermen's suplex and the Money Shot for an impressive win.

Val Venis was not pleased as he rebounded from the loss to the Big Show last Monday on RAW, disposing of Stevie Richards' imitation. 'The Big Valbowski's demeanor changed when he spotted a cute brunette in the front row; Val immediately talking to her, then hoisting her over the barricade and leaving with the girl in his arms!

gX2kwuH.png

4 | Chris Benoit (c) def. Mark Henry to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship (4:01)
'The Canadian Crippler' had scored the WWF Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, victorious in a two-fall Triple Threat match against former champion Kurt Angle, and the new WWF European Champion, Chris Jericho. Benoit was out for competition, riling 'Sexual Chocolate' up for this match. Henry's weight proved to be an issue for Benoit's attacks, causing him to bail from the ring. Mark found himself chopped down to size, with the Canadian attacking the legs of Henry before delivering a snap suplex to the 350-pounder. Mark Henry tried to get back on track, but fell victim to the Crippler Crossface!

Chris Benoit had to be restrained by the referee after the bell, the WWF Intercontinental Champion snatching his title from the referee. Benoit was making for a dominant champion in his first week as champion, as HeAT went off the air.

RAW is WAR #358 - April 3, 2000
Staples Center in Los Angeles, California
Live on the USA Network

WER96kf.png

A video package recapped the fallout of WrestleMania, showing the unity of the McMahon-Helmsley Regime as Vince and Shane McMahon banded together with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and D-Generation X with a common goal of taking down the Rock. But as Rock overcame the handicapped threats he faced in the McMahons and DX last week, what would be the McMahon-Helmsley Regime's next step in their plan to keep Rock from becoming WWF Champion?

The opening video package took us to the packed house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where pyrotechnics set the stage ablaze. Jim Ross and Jerry 'the King' Lawler welcomed us to RAW, on a night where Eddie Guerrero would defend the WWF European Championship against Rikishi Phatu, and the team from Hell, Kane and the Acolytes shall do battle with the Big Bossman, Bull Buchanan, and a partner of their choosing!

  • WWF European Championship - Eddie Guerrero (c) vs Rikishi Phatu
  • Kane and the Acolytes vs Big Bossman, Bull Buchanan and TBA

What's In Store For 'The Great One?'
Triple H
and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley made their way down to the ring, received poorly by the Floridian crowd. The World Wrestling Federation Champion and his wife, the WWF Women's Champion stood stoically through the chants of "assh*le", Triple H speaking about how confident he was after everything that had happened, that this would be the night The Rock went down. He talked about how Vince and Shane McMahon may have failed, but what happened on SmackDown! showed chinks in the armor of the Rock! It boded well, because he knew deep down the Rock could not handle the pressure that came with being the WWF Champion again! H had a message for 'the People's Champ', to call his spots and keep out of his way if he had any sense, self-respect or dignity left. One way or another, the Rock would be left bloodied, beaten and bruised courtesy of the McMahon-Helmsley regime! Stephanie agreed with everything her husband said, but wanted to address the actions of one Chris Jericho, and what he said to her last Thursday night. Stephanie said that it appeared Y2J did not know who she was, or what the McMahon-Helmsley regime was all about.

The WWF Women's Champion reiterated that she was 'the Billion Dollar Princess' - and her father was the WWF Chairman. The McMahon-Helmsley Regime ran the World Wrestling Federation, and if Chris Jericho besmirched her again, Y2J would have hell to pay. Triple H got in a shot at Jericho's recent loss to Chyna, full of himself, but Stephanie digressed that she wanted to make it clear that Chris Jericho would get with the program the easy way or the hard way, announcing that Y2J would face Road Dogg tonight! Triple H put his arm around his wife, telling Jericho that he shall get with the program just like Rock will, repeating that the McMahon-Helmsley Regime ruled the World Wrestling Federation, and the WWF Championship was staying right where it belonged, over his shoulder! The Rock interrupted to a thunderous ovation; 'the Brahma Bull' defying Triple H's warning to walk with caution! 'The People's Champ' wasn't alone, bringing a steel chair along with him! The Rock immediately talked business, saying how he heard Triple H and Stephanie loud and clear, to not mess with the McMahon-Helmsley regime. While the Rock heard and understood that, what he didn't understand was Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley's frustrations with Chris Jericho - for speaking the words every single man, woman and child already knew about the boss's daughter!

Rock continued his tirade, mocking Triple H crying over Rock finding himself a bloodied mess - but 'the Brahma Bull' was still standing with defiance, urging the McMahon-Helmsley Regime to "Just Bring It!" Triple H shrugged, telling Rock he didn't know what Vince McMahon had in mind for him tonight, but he knew it was going to be enough to keep 'the Great One' down for good. In the mean time, he called upon X-Pac and Road Dogg! D-Generation X snuck up behind the Rock, clubbing away at him! Rock fired back at X-Pac with right hands, then picked up his steel chair, frightening off DX! Rock told Triple H he would take all of his might to take him down. He would not stop until the WWF Championship was back over his shoulder. "If Ya Smell What The Rock is Cookin!'" What did the absent Chairman have planned for Rock tonight?

Eddie Guerrero and Chyna walked the halls backstage, as 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' clutched her back. The WWF European Champion had his arm around 'Mamacita' as he asked her how her back was doing after being locked in the Walls of Jericho last week. She commented that she'd be fine, though 'Latino Heat' had to focus on Rikishi Phatu tonight.

True Colors
Al Snow
and Steve Blackman made their way down the rampway as a replay aired, showing 'the Lethal Weapon' being coerced into performing stand-up comedy at the Sunny Days Residential Home on Smackdown! Edge and Christian followed, the WWF Tag Team Champions uncharacteristically entering down the rampway. With a microphone in hand, Christian told Snow and Blackman that the people in Fort Lauderdale didn't deserve to see them put their titles on the line! He called Snow a goof, and that he possessed more charisma in his little finger than Blackman had in his entire body! Edge told the "hosers" in the ring they weren't getting a WWF Tag Team Championship shot, but they would show them who the supreme fighting team was in the World Wrestling Federation, right now!

1 | WWF Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian def. Al Snow and Steve Blackman (3:56)
Al Snow continued to try and push Steve Blackman beyond his comfort zone in entertaining the fans, while Edge and Christian continued to show their true colors, refusing to put the WWF Tag Team Championships on the line against Snow and Blackman. This motivated 'the Lethal Weapon', who went on the attack and caused Edge to bail early. Snow almost scored the win off of a sit-out spinebuster on Christian, but Edge came from behind with a dropkick allowing Christian to deliver a reverse DDT on Snow for the win!

Edge and Christian were successful in defeating Al Snow and Steve Blackman, but the WWF Tag Team Champions eagerly escaped an irritated 'Lethal Weapon', bailing to the floor! The Canadian brothers high-fived following the win, when the Dudley Boyz came from behind attacking Edge and Christian! Edge and Christian fled the scene, while D-Von and Bubba Ray clearly had the titles still in their line of sight.

〓〓〓

Hardcore Holly taped his wrists backstage when Crash Holly was spotted sneaking around. Hardcore blurted out he could tell the WWF Hardcore Champion was there - in fact, he was lucky that he didn't have a referee with him. Crash apologized to Hardcore for how things turned out, but he wanted to help out Hardcore in his match with Viscera tonight. Not wanting the Holly Cousins to have strained relations, Hardcore shook his head, then decked Crash over the head with a right hand! The champ scrammed immediately.

The Rock marched back and forth in his dressing room. 'The Brahma Bull' was ready for anything with a chair grasped in hand! With no sight of Vince McMahon still, who knew what was in store for 'the People's Champ'.

In the locker room the Big Bossman span his nightstick around, talking with Bull Buchanan. He said they weren't taking any of the Acolytes' shtick tonight. They were the enforcers, and they were the ones in charge. tonight they were going to finish what they started last week, by leaving 'the Big Red Machine' down and defenceless. Buchanan uttered that justice would be served - clearly confident. Who would be the prison guards' partner in six-man tag team action tonight?

Holding Abstinence
Kurt Angle
arrived for action against the Godfather, the Olympic Gold Medalist grinning despite the rocky events of last week. Angle spoke to the state of Florida about them not sharing the same morals as most of the United States. That was okay, because "their" 'Olympic Hero' was here to show them the importance of abstinence! Angle talked about the pros of practicing abstinence from sex which - unlike his opponent tonight - he practiced every single minute of every single day. Kurt recommended trying it, saying that if they were lucky, they could be half the man that he was!

2 | Kurt Angle def. The Godfather (w/Hos) (2:40)
The Olympic Gold Medalist wanted to get another win over 'the Pimp Daddy', who again appeared preoccupied showing off his lovely Hos at ringside. In a rematch from SmackDown!, Godfather had Kurt Angle right where he wanted him up until a legdrop from the second rope, and Angle attempted the crossface chickenwing on 'the Pimp Daddy'. Godfather was too big and strong, backing him up into the corner which allowed Godfather to attempt the Ho Train - just to miss it and back up into the Olympic Slam!

Kurt Angle had overcame the Godfather, though as he celebrated, three of the Godfather's Hos approached the Olympic Gold Medalist to congratulate him on the win. Angle was appalled to be in their presence, and quickly left the ring to celebrate by himself. Practicing abstinence may well have been what had allowed Kurt Angle to be the athlete he was today!

In the parking lot Vince and Shane McMahon stepped out of a limousine, Shane blaming Fort Lauderdale for having a terrible traffic system. Shane said the place stunk and complained about the jam they'd been stuck in for the past hour! The WWF Chairman wasn't so tough on Florida however, commenting that tonight Fort Lauderdale was the place where they would see 'the People's Champion' subjugated!

Earlier today The Kat ate salad in her dressing room, when Terri entered the room to apologize to the Kat for how things have been between them. Terri admitted she hadn't been a good person and wanted her to know that so that they could be friends. Terri noted the attention and publicity their Catfight from WrestleMania had gotten them, bringing Kat to speak ecstatically about her phone being off the hook. Terri told Kat she had a surprise for her, inviting the Kat on a spa day! Happily accepted, it seemed that the beef between the Kat and Terri had been squashed.

3 | Viscera def. Hardcore Holly (3:48)
Hardcore Holly continued to seek the WWF Hardcore Championship, but first had to put away the 500-pounder. Viscera was tough to knock off his feet, and while Hardcore clobbered him, the monster took him down with a sidewalk slam. Things looked dire for Hardcore when Crash Holly ran down to the apron, distracting Viscera. Hardcore came from behind and foolishly tried to power Viscera up for a slam, but Viscera squashed Holly to take the win!

Stop and Go
Crash Holly
got into the ring, nailing Viscera with a stop sign! It bent over Viscera's head, but it didn't seem to harm him in the slightest. The WWF Hardcore Champion was clotheslined Crash and covered - the referee counting - though Hardcore took the stop sign and slammed it twice on the large back of the 500-pounder! Holly repeatedly battered Viscera as Crash recovered, but once he saw the intensity in his cousin's eyes, the champ fled the ring! Hardcore followed suit, chasing the WWF Hardcore Champion up the rampway!

〓〓〓

Vince McMahon conferred with his son Shane, his son-in-law Triple H and his daughter Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, as the WWF Chairman began making his way up the corridor. The Chairman was heading to the ring - next.

WER96kf.png

Getaway
WWF Hardcore Champion Crash Holly rushed up the halls away from his cousin Hardcore Holly, who blamed his cousin for costing him the match with Viscera moments ago. Crash apologized to Hardcore, when Tazz came from behind, locking the Tazzmission in on Crash! Tazz had a referee with him to check on Crash - but Hardcore blasted Tazz with a right hand! 'The Human Suplex Machine' and Hardcore Holly went at it, allowing Crash to cradle away from the scene, taking his title with him!

〓〓〓

Game of Chance
The National Car Rental Arena was joined by Vince McMahon, who marched down to the ring to loud boos from the capacity crowd. The Chairman was ready to address the Rock as to what he had in store for him tonight, but began by speaking of how great it was to be here in such a place like Fort Lauderdale. The traffic may stink, the food may stink, and - quite frankly - the people might stink! Alas, all was forgiven, because tonight would be the night the Rock would meet his end! He relayed his history with the Rock, noting they were once close. In fact, it was Vincent Kennedy McMahon who made 'the People's Champ' the man he was today! But, that didn't change the fact he was not suitable to be World Wrestling Federation Champion - in any way! Vince talked facing the Rock last week on RAW is WAR, and how he saw the hunger in his eyes. But by last Thursday on SmackDown! that luck of hunger was dying down to a mere glimmer, and he watched it up close when Rock struggled and faltered against D-Generation X! McMahon said 'the Brahma Bull' was not the man everybody thought he was, and tonight: he vowed to prove it! The Rock returned to another raucous ovation, interrupted the Chairman with the same steel chair from earlier tonight held tight.

Vince tried telling the Rock he wasn't finished, only to be told 'the Brahma Bull' had heard enough of the talking. He had heard it from all different sides of the story - from the forehead-crinkled assh*le Triple H, to his trashbag ho of a wife Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. The Rock knew what he was in for, and like he told Triple H earlier - he wanted Vince McMahon to go ahead and give him another obstacle, so that he could conquer whatever he threw his way. One way or another, he vowed to go on to whoop Triple H's candyass and become WWF Champion! The people chanted Rocky's name, as Vince chuckled. Acting surprised at the very idea Rock could even survive tonight, he suggested that 'the People's Champ' prepare himself, because he wasn't going to name his opponents - but he would tell him that Rock's match would be held inside of the steel cage hanging over the ring! In the interest of fairness, if he managed to survive the steel cage match tonight, he planned to present the Rock one last chance to face Triple H for the WWF Championship! He told Vince he had to be the lousiest, dumbest son of a gun today - because when it was all said and done, after tonight was through and the Rock was victorious, he would take his son-in-law to school, wall to wall inside of that steel cage! The stipulation was named and the match was announced - but who would the Rock's opponent gonna be?

Dedicating to Stephanie
Chris Jericho
stepped out to the rampway amidst pyrotechnics to a loud ovation, as Y2J prepared to take on Road Dogg - a relatiation from Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. Jericho welcomed Fort Lauderdale to RAW is Jericho, before talking about what Triple H and Stephanie had to say about him earlier tonight. Jericho may have lost to Chyna on SmackDown!, but at least he wasn't banging boots with the biggest bottom-feeding, disgusting trash-bag ho walking planet Earth today! Jericho walked to the ring exuding confidence as he told Stephanie he wasn't afraid of her, and he knew the McMahon-Helmsley regime were watching. When he broke the Walls down on Road Dogg tonight, he wanted the entire world to know that he was dedicating this match to Stephanie!

4 | Chris Jericho def. Road Dogg (w/X-Pac and Tori) by disqualification (4:25)
Chris Jericho remained unapologetic about what he had to say about Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley last Thursday night, and Road Dogg was about to try have his way with Y2J. He talked trash as he pounded on Jericho, but 'the Millennium Man' was not taking anything Road Dogg threw at him. X-Pac and Tori got involved on two occasions, with Y2J becoming distracted and getting jumped by Road Dogg. Later, Tori got on the apron to distract Y2J and wound up getting liplocked by Jericho! X-Pac was livid, and just when Jericho had Road Dogg in the Walls of Jericho, a roundhouse kick took him out!

Give A Little Respect
The crowd booed loudly as Chris Jericho had the boots given to him by X-Pac, extremely unhappy with Jericho's blatant disrespect of his girlfriend Tori! Road Dogg recovered and joined in on the torment - whilst Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley watched from their dressing room - X-Pac leaving Jericho down and out with the X-Factor! D-Generation X left with their heads held high, and Y2J was feeling the consequences of insulting anybody associated with the McMahon-Helmsley Regime!

Edge and Christian were in the locker room, unhappy with how they were treated by the Dudley Boyz. Edge commented that he found Christian's comment about Steve Blackman's charisma funny, saying it even fit D-Von and Bubba Ray like a glove. Christian mocked the way Bubba looked when he drives a woman through a table when the WWF Tag Team Champions were interrupted by the arrival of the Hardy Boyz! Matt and Jeff confronted Edge and Christian: Matt telling them that they weren't finished with them by a long shot. Christian spoke up, telling Jeff and Matt they had their shot and they blew it. They didn't deserve a thing! Edge told the Hardys if they wanted to get in the good books of E&C, they had to do something for them - and that was handle the Dudleys.

Six-man tag team action loomed, as Kane walked alongside Paul Bearer. 'The Big Red Machine' adjusted his gloved hand, when the Acolytes showed up to speak with the two men. Bradshaw, Faarooq, Kane and Bearer were headed for the ring to face the Big Bossman, Bull Buchanan and whoever their partner was - up next!

WER96kf.png

The Kat had accepted the invitation of Terri, as earlier today they were seen enjoying cocktails at a spa salon in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Terri and Kat discussed the highlights of their stay thus far, when Terri introduced Kat to her close friend, a stylist who appeared glad to assist Kat in giving her a makeover. Kat finished her drink, which Terri took to re-fill - but whilst Kat talked to the stylist about her hair, Terri was seen putting some powder in her glass!

5 | Big Show, Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan def. Kane and the Acolytes (4:38)
Despite the recent personality switch of the Big Show, tonight 'the Big Nasty Bastard' was back as the mystery partner of the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan. Big Show still did not trust Bossman after previous events, as Bradshaw and Faarooq gave the Georgia prison guards a beating, but when 'the Big Red Machine' came in, so did the Big Show - and the two giants collided. They exchanged words when Bossman and Buchanan jumped Kane, which Show did not appreciate. Bradshaw took the tag, and Show angrily ducked a Clothesline From Hell, giving the Texan a Showstopper for the win.

Unforgiven and Unforgotten
The Big Show scored another victory in tonight's six-man tag team bout, but he did not seem as pleased as his partners, Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan. They went back to putting the boots on 'the Big Red Machine', but Show suddenly shoved Bossman back, causing Bossman to shove Show in return! This did not go down well, as Show grabbed Bossman by the throat and ousted him with a Showstopper! Buchanan tried to attack Show, but Show dropped him with a Showstopper for his own troubles! "The Big Nasty Bastard" left alone to a positive response from the people in Fort Lauderdale.

〓〓〓

WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley chatted with Tori in the hallway, when Jacqueline appeared much to the annoyance of the boss's daughter. Jackie told Stephanie she may have beaten her for the title two weeks ago, but their business wasn't over yet. She brought up winning a number one contender's match last night on HeAT, and she demanded her match here, tonight! McMahon-Helmsley felt threatened, telling Tori although she was a fighting champion, and much like her husband, open to any challenge - she was still feeling the effects of the Rock's heinous beating of her at WrestleMania! Stephanie told Jackie if she wanted a match, she could face Tori this Thursday night on SmackDown! Jacqueline told Steph she wasn't surprised, then faced off with Tori, commenting that she was going to beat her so bad, her boyfriend X-Pac would feel it.

T&A were in the locker room talking to Trish Stratus, as Test and Albert listened to what she had to say about being a team. She wanted T&A to teach everybody the respect that she deserved when in walked Vince McMahon. The Chairman was happy to see her and wanted to have a word with the trio - but what was this about?

WER96kf.png

Playing Games
Edge and Christian complained about their luck, almost having to put the WWF Tag Team Championship on the line against those "pinheads" Steve Blackman and Al Snow, and then being confronted by the Hardy Boyz. Edge said Jeff must have lost the last of his brain cells in the Triangle Ladder match at WrestleMania, because they were the champions - not them! Christian claimed they deserved better treatment. The Dudley Boyz overheard them, and Bubba Ray Dudley did not seem happy. D-Von said that they were the champs - but that meant there was a huge target on their backs, and they wanted the gold back around their waists! Edge and Christian told the Dudleys to go back to picking splinters out of their butts - but if they wanted to do something good, this Thursday night on SmackDown! they could do them a solid, by taking out the Hardy Boyz! Edge referenced how the Hardys beat them at their own game in the Tables match at Royal Rumble - how about a little payback this week on SmackDown!? The champs left D-Von and Bubba to contemplate their comments.

6 | Rikishi Phatu def. Eddie Guerrero (w/Chyna) (c) by disqualification; Eddie retains the WWF European Championship (4:15)
While Chyna recovered from Chris Jericho's Walls of Jericho this past week on SmackDown!, her new boyfriend had his hands full putting the WWF European Championship on the line against Rikishi. 'Latino Heat' helped 'Mamacita' to ringside before attempting to engage the 400-pound Samoan - Rikishi easily squashing Eddie's attempts at lifting him. Guerrero resorted to a more agile style, but Rikishi managed to swat him out of the air with a clothesline! Guerrero recover in the corner, when Rikishi backed it up and attempted the Stinkface! Guerrero was in trouble and he knew it, which is when he punched the big man low out of desperation!

Two For One
By the skin of his teeth, 'Latino Heat' retained the WWF European Championship and avoided the threat of the Stinkface, as Eddie was handed the title by 'Mamacita' at ringside. Eddie swung for Rikishi's head - but he ducked the shot and superkicked Eddie down! Guerrero fell into the corner, as Chyna looked on helpless from ringside! Rikishi backed it up and prepared to give Eddie the Stinkface of a lifetime, when Chyna tried to intercept - only to get sent into the corner with her lover! 'Mamacita' and 'Latino Heat' suffered together to the Stinkface, leaving Rikishi to dance amid the lowlights.

〓〓〓

The Radicalz were in their locker room: Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko discussing the strange relationship between their buddy Eddie Guerrero and 'the Ninth Wonder of the World' Chyna. Saturn said he was happy everybody in the Radicalz had gold - Benoit was the WWF Intercontinental Champion; Eddie was WWF European Champion; and Malenko was the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion. Maybe he needed some gold around his waist, too. In walked Vince McMahon to ask the Radicalz if they had a minute. What was the Chairman talking to the Radicalz and T&A about?
〓〓〓

Elsewhere the Rock - armed with that same steel chair - left his locker room. 'The People's Champ' made his way for a Steel-Cage match that the Chairman had put him in tonight: but who was the Rock's opponent? Would Rock be able to overcome the odds to earn himself another shot at the WWF Championship? The main event was next!

WER96kf.png

Earlier today at the spa salon, the Kat was seen passed out in the barber's chair, as Terri told Kat to wake up and see herself. The Kat was made up with heavy eye shadow and thick red lipstick, as the word "sl*t" was enscripted on her forehead. Above all else, her hair was a cut up mess! Terri showed Kat her reflection in mirror as she came around, bringing her to scream in horror! Terri laughed evilly, having humiliated the Kat well and truly! It was all a set up, retaliation for WrestleMania!
〓〓〓

Against All Odds
In the National Car Rental Arena the steel cage was lowered to surround the ring, and the Rock made his way out to an enormous ovation! 'The People's Champ' was armed with the steel chair, as he was set for a Steel-Cage match in tonight's main event - but he had no idea who his opponent was going to be. The Rock stepped into the cage, pacing back and forth when Vince McMahon's music hit. The WWF Chairman marched onto the rampway, where he stood with his son Shane. The crowd booed the McMahons loudly as Vince told Rock he had given it some thought, and he had in fact granted Rock a rematch with Triple H for the WWF Championship at Backlash on April 30: if he could manage to overcome the odds tonight. Vince introduced his opponent: the WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit! 'The Canadian Crippler' headed towards the ring, and Rock was ready for the challenge - but Vince told Chris to hang on: his tag team partners would be none other than T&A! A three-on-one handicap match in the Cage - how could the Rock overcome this?

7 | The Rock def. WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit and T&A (w/Trish Stratus) in a Steel-Cage match (6:01)
Vince and Shane McMahon
joined commentary for this match, the Rock now twice competing in handicap matches this past week, and this was his third and toughest test to date. The submission machine Chris Benoit, and the dominant combination of Test and Albert were a lot for the Rock, who used the steel chair on T&A. The numbers game was too much, and quickly it became a prolonged beatdown of 'the People's Champ!' The McMahons talked brashly as Benoit gave him German Suplex after German Suplex, whereas T&A took pleasure hurling Rock into the cage walls repeatedly. Rock wouldn't give in, delivering a DDT to Test on the chair before sending Albert into the cage! Benoit looked for the Crippler Crossface, but Rock sent him down and used the steel chair! He looked to the door when Shane joined in on the action! It was now four-on-one, but Rock gave Shane a flurry of right hands, knocking him out through the door he came! Rock began climbing the cage instead, when Benoit tried to prevent escape. They went blow for blow on the top rope when Rock sent Benoit into the steel - causing him to collapse back into the ring! Rock was on top of the cage and climbed down - but Road Dogg and X-Pac showed up! Triple H walked down the ramp, as Rock decided to drop down anyway, winning the match!

Caught Up With Him in the End
The Rock miraculously overcame what became a four-on-one handicap Steel-Cage match, granting him another shot at the WWF Championship. Rock immediately had to try and fight Road Dogg and X-Pac off, when Triple H slammed the WWF title into the head of 'the Brahma Bull'! DX put the boots to Rock, before tossing him back to the wolves in the ring: T&A and Benoit putting the boots to Rock as well! Shane directed traffic whilst Vince was happier than ever on commentary! It was a collective beatdown of the Rock, but Chris Jericho charged down to the ring! Y2J grabbed a steel chair and stepped inside, nailing Benoit and Road Dogg. Unfortunately, the numbers game was too much for him! Triple H drove Y2J into the mat with a Pedigree, when Rock attacked Triple H! Shane low-blowed Rock from behind, allowing 'the Game' to drop his opponent at Backlash with a powerful Pedigree - Rock left bloody on the canvas! Triple H knelt over his rival, telling Rock that the World Wrestling Federation Championship belonged to him.

SmackDown! #34 - April 13, 2000
The Ice Palace in Tampa, Florida
Broadcast on UPN - Taped on April 11, 2000

xL7OMpT.png

SmackDown! kicked things off with a recap of what went down on RAW is WAR, where Vince McMahon decided to stack the deck once again against the Rock, offering him a shot at the WWF Championship if he could overcome the odds inside of a Steel-Cage. Rock had to beat Test, Albert and Chris Benoit, and was miraculously able to win the match before finding himself - alongside Chris Jericho - the recipient of a mass beatdown courtesy of D-Generation X, the Radicalz and T&A. The McMahon-Helmsley Regime's connections continued to grow!

The opening video package brought us to the sold out Ice Palace in Tampa, Florida where Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcomed us to SmackDown!

Rebellion on the Frontline
Triple H
and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley wasted no time making their way to the ring; the World Wrestling Federation Champion and his wife all smiles tonight following their beatdown of the Rock this past Monday. HHH immediately started by addressing how the Rock went down, and that the McMahon-Helmsley Regime's plan had gone according to plan! He claimed that he wasn't about to deny Rock of another shot at his gold, because if there was one thing he couldn't deny was how much he loved to beat down and demolish the Rock's sorry existence! 'The Game' spoke of Rock being a deadman, and said that Backlash was the night the date was set - April 30 in Washington, DC, the Rock would meet his maker when 'the Game' showed exactly how damn good he is! Stephanie pointed out that Rock wasn't the only one who faced their own consequences, addressing Chris Jericho. Stephanie said that you didn't talk about a McMahon the way he did - especially her, the "billion dollar princess". She called Y2J a pest that needed exterminating, and after RAW went down the way it did, perhaps it would be wiser for Jericho to stay out of the McMahon-Helmsley Regime's business! Triple H told Steph not to worry, because he was certain Chris Jericho got the message loud and clear. If he didn't, HHH was confident X-Pac would finish what they started tonight.

Chris Jericho stepped out to the stage, met with a loud reaction. He demanded Triple H and Stephanie shut the hell up before speaking of a paradigm shift in the World Wrestling Federation - but he wasn't talking about how high Steph's thong was riding, or how Triple H's ego was bigger than his nose. Y2J was referring to the rebellion that was going on, and on the front-line was not only the Rock, but 'the Sexy Beast' as well! Triple H asked Jericho if he got a concussion from the Pedigree he gave him, because he was delirious. Jericho ran his yapper so much, it was just a matter of time until he found himself paying for that big mouth, but Jericho responded that he heard that's what he heard Stephanie did every night! He was serious in saying that although Rock and he got their asses beaten down on Monday, it took nine guys to hold them down, and he dared Triple H to give his lapdog X-Pac the night off - because he wanted Triple H! The fans erupted, but he laughed and shot Y2J down, saying that as much fun it would be to beat his ass, he already had a match - and he was putting the WWF Championship on the line! Y2J smirked at the obvious lie, but told Hunter upon further consideration, maybe he didn't need a WWF Championship match to face him - maybe he could come down to the ring there and then! Charging to the ring, Triple H and Stephanie wisely exited the ring, laughing all the while!

Vince and Shane McMahon watched from couches in their dressing room, where the WWF Chairman talked about the poise of the WWF Champion Triple H. He didn't need to put the title on the line in a scummy city like Tampa, but he was! Vince claimed the Rock wouldn't do something like that. Shane told his father that he was excited for Backlash, because he knew 'the Game' would be triumphant, and Rock would learn the McMahon-Helmsley Regime were the ones who kept the World Wrestling Federation afloat.

xL7OMpT.png

No One Treats 'Mamacita' That Way
Eddie Guerrero
and his 'Mamacita' Chyna were en route to the ring as SmackDown! returned, the WWF European Champion still wiping his nose of the stench from the Stinkface suffered on Monday. 'Latino Heat' took to the microphone in the ring, talking about how disgusting and disrespectful Rikishi was. Eddie complained about picking up the scent of the Samoan's disgusting rear end, and accused Rikishi of not being a man of culture - he wasn't even European! 'The Ninth Wonder of the World' added Phatu was a monster for trying to ruin her 'Latino Heat's face. She claimed he was jealous, because the truth was 'Latino Heat' was so much sexier than Rikishi could ever dream of being! Fired up, Eddie demanded Rikishi get down to the ring for their match.

1 | WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero & Chyna def. Scotty 2 Hotty & Rikishi (3:58)
Rikishi Phatu lost his WWF European Championship shot when Eddie Guerrero kicked him low on RAW, but got revenge giving 'Latino Heat' the Stinkface. It made Eddie hot, hammering the Samoan as the bell sounded, but the 400-pounder diffused Eddie using his size. With Grandmaster Sexay on the bench, Scotty 2 Hotty was effective in teaming up against Guerrero, but Chyna was the equalizer who took control. Despite their best efforts, in came Rikishi running wild with a Samoan drop to Guerrero and bum-rushing Chyna in the corner. The Stinkface awaited but while the referee was with distracted, Eddie snuck in with a shot from the European title! Guerrero placed 'Mamacita' on top to get the win!

Eddie Guerrero had saved his 'Mamacita' in tag team action tonight, gaining a measure of revenge for the Stinkface on RAW. 'Latino Heat' hugged his trusty WWF European Championship, when Chyna roped Eddie into a huge kiss of relief. Scotty 2 Hotty attended to Rikishi, the Samoan none too happy about the loss.

Monster Duo
Kevin Kelly
was backstage with Big Show, wanting to get a word with 'the Big Nasty B*stard' about his recent change of late. Big Show told Kevin that he was just like a new man. He felt fresh and new and explorative, wanting to have more fun - and that ever since he did, he'd become a serious hit - not just with potential business associates - but the ladies too! Show smiled, but his demeanor turned once Kane showed up. Accompanied by Paul Bearer, 'the Big Red Machine' faced off with Show when Paul asked Show to team up with Kane tonight against the Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan. Show smiled as he nodded in agreement, the two giants parting ways. The guards were in trouble tonight!

The Need to Hurt
Shane McMahon
was in the corridor with WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit. Shane told'the Canadian Crippler' what he and the Radicalz did last Monday was phenomenal, and Benoit was awesome in his role. He advised Chris if the Radicalz remained allies with the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, then more rewards would come their way. Benoit told Shane it felt good making the Rock rive in pain in the cage on RAW is WAR, but he wasn't happy. Benoit told Shane he wanted the Rock, all to himself - tonight! The boss's son smiled, nodding his head and telling Chris he asked and shall receive. Benoit vowed to make Rock squeal in the Crossface.

2 | Crash Holly (c) def. Perry Saturn to retain the WWF Hardcore Championship (4:41)
With the Holly Cousins falling apart by the week, Crash Holly defended the WWF Hardcore Championship against Perry Saturn, the sole member of the Radicalz without a championship to his name. It was noted Saturn received this opportunity thanks to the Radicalz's part played in the Rock's dismantling on RAW is WAR, and Saturn proved how hardcore he could be by suplexing Crash through a trash can - almost scoring the win. Crash appeared to be in trouble as Saturn held a lead pipe, when Hardcore Holly hit the ring. It seemed like Crash was in dire trouble, but Hardcore instead took out Saturn with the Falcon Arrow! Hardcore glared at Crash, then demanded his cousin cover him. Crash complied!

Crash Holly timidly returned to his feet, not turning his back to his older cousin for a second. Hardcore Holly continued to stare him out, but then raised Crash's hand in victory. Hardcore even handed Crash the WWF Hardcore Championship, congratulating him on the title win! Hardcore left, leaving Crash incredibly confused by the sudden revelation that Hardcore was on his side. With the 24/7 rule looming, who knew who Crash could truly trust.

Getting Their Fix
The Dudley Boyz
stroked a table in the locker room, as D-Von talked about how it had been three long months since the Royal Rumble, where they lost the Tables match to the Hardy Boyz. He preached that they had waited for far too long, but tonight was their night! It was time for Jeff and Matt to get some wood, and when it was all said and done, the Dudley Boyz would regain the WWF Tag Team Championship. Bubba was in the zone, telling D-Von that he would get his fix, that the Hardys were going down and so were Edge and Christian. The Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan entered the scene, Bossman told the Dudleys that bad things happened to good people, and when they were done with Kane and the Big Show, they wanted the gold themselves. Bubba and D-Von squared up to them, asking if they were feeling froggy, but Bossman and Buchanan decided to leave - the prison guards set to face Kane and Big Show next!

  • TONIGHT - Number One Contender's Tag Team Tables match - The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz

xL7OMpT.png

3 | Kane and Big Show (w/Paul Bearer) def. Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan (2:19)
The Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan had unfinished business with the Big Show and Kane after some choice words for the Dudley Boyz. Big Show found himself unsatisfied with his partnership and laid waste to the prison guards on RAW, and Bossman and Buchanan went right to work on him in revenge. They hammered at Kane but struggled when it came to the Big Show. Show had more flair to his moves tonight, jiving with every chop he planted into the chest of Buchanan. Soon enough Bossman and Buchanan figured they couldn't fight fairly - attempting to bring their nightsticks into the equation - but Kane and Show caught them by the throats, with stereo-Chokeslams giving the monsters the win!

'The Big Red Machine' and the Big Show stood dominantly, but Show prevented Kane from raising his hands to trigger hellfire and brimstone. Instead, Show raised his gigantic hand high as Kane looked on silently. Paul Bearer watched on in eagerness, when Kane responded by raising his gloved palm as well - resulting in the fire and flames burst out of the ring posts! Kane and Big Show had formed the unholy alliance capable of taking care of Bossman and Buchanan.

▃▃▃

Kurt Angle watched the team of Kane and the Big Show on a backstage monitor. Unimpressed by the powerful duo, he shook his head and complained all they did was raise their hands and spawned fireworks. He was an Olympic Gold Medalist, and you didn't see him getting a firework display - well, besides from the Fourth of July, and maybe New Year!

▃▃▃

The Hardy Boyz prepared in the locker room ahead of Tag Team Tables with the Dudley Boyz, Matt asking Jeff how his shoulder was, to which he told his older brother that he was good to go. Commenting that the WWF Tag Team Championships would be in their reach after they beat the Dudleys at their own game again tonight; in came the doubters, Edge and Christian. The WWF Tag Team Champions joked that they came in peace as Christian gave insincere good luck. Matt told Edge and Christian to stay out of the way, and vowed they would see them at Backlash.

▃▃▃

Triple H pulled up his knee pads in the McMahon-Helmsley regime's dressing room, the WWF Championship seated by him on the couch. Vince and Shane McMahon entered, the Chairman proclaiming how 'the Game' was the greatest WWF Champion the World Wrestling Federation had ever seen! Shane asked Triple H about his title defense, and who he was giving a shot at the gold. Vince told him it better not be Chris Jericho, but Triple H laughed. 'The Game' referenced Vince's game of whispers this past Monday when telling Rock who he was up against. Much like RAW, he was keeping his opponent tonight under wraps! Who was Triple H's challenger going to be?

4 | The Hardy Boyz def. The Dudley Boyz in a Number One Contender's Tag Team Tables match (6:22)
Following the Triangle Ladder war at WrestleMania, WWF Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian were pitting the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz against each other to determine who they would meet at Backlash. Jeff had his shoulder wrapped up and D-Von had a bandaged arm, but the teams still collided, working to put the other through tables. Matt was eliminated by a double suplex from the Dudleys, leaving Jeff in a bad way. Jeff fought them off, reversing a superplex to put D-Von through the table! Bubba set up a powerbomb when Bull Buchanan and the Big Bossman showed up to attack! Bossman clubbed Bubba Ray with the nightstick, before Bull sidewalk slammed Bubba through a table!

Totally Screwed
The Big Bossman and Bull Buchanan left the ring, their handiwork done in screwing the Dudley Boyz out of a future WWF Tag Team Championship opportunity. They were pleased with the job they had done, when Edge and Christian ran down to the ring. The WWF Tag Team Champions had their challengers set for Backlash, but capitalized with Jeff down and hurting in the ring! Matt was still out from the rough landing through the wood, and Edge opportunistically dropped Jeff with a Spear mid-ring! Christian followed with a big Unprettier, leaving the youngster down and out! The Canadians stood tall raising their titles - with their challengers come Backlash left brutalized.

No Care
Kurt Angle
attempted to talk to Essa Rios, who seemingly had much to say about the United States of America. He spoke a mile per minute in Spanish leaving Angle turning to Lita for a translation. Before she got the chance, Big Show showed up to confront 'the Olympic Hero'. Show told Kurt he heard what he said, asking if it was true. Kurt grew sheepish in his company, admitting to the giant they weren't his true feelings about Show. In actuality his feelings were about Kane, being the 'Big Red blu*b*rry' that he was. Show placed his giant hand on Angle's shoulder, but his laugh turned to a snarl as he told Kurt he didn't care: Show was going to Chokeslam Angle into next week, challenging him to a match this Monday on RAW! As Show departed, the Olympic Gold Medalist muttered Show was on, scampering away.

X-Pac was with his girlfriend Tori, who he asked if she was ready for Jacqueline. Tori said that Jackie was full of it, and for Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, she would take care of her later tonight. X-Pac turned his attention to the comments Chris Jericho made about Steph, saying that Stephanie was a delightful lady, a stand-up gal. And after Y2J beat Road Dogg on Monday, he wouldn't let him get the better of D-Generation X. Triple H and Shane McMahon turned up, the WWF Champion telling the couple that they did not want to miss his title defence. 'The Game' and Shane left; who would his opponent be?

Practical Joke
Triple H
was with Shane McMahon, making their way to the ring for 'the Game's supposed WWF Championship defense. HHH and Shane waited patiently with coy smiles on their faces, when Kaientai's music hit. Ring announcer Tony Chimel declared that Taka Michinoku would challenge for the World Wrestling Federation Championship, much to the amusement of 'the Game'! A practical joke was being played, but Kaientai stopped midwalk, and the Acolytes joined behind them! Taka had enlisted the Acolyte Protection Agency's services, and Bradshaw and Faarooq rushed the ring to fend off Shane! The Acolytes chased Shane out through the crowd, leaving just Triple H to face Taka with the WWF Championship on the line.

5 | Triple H (c) def. Taka Michinoku (w/Funaki) to retain the WWF Championship (5:03)
With Shane McMahon ran off by the Acolytes, Taka Michinoku's chances at becoming the WWF Championship had been raised greatly. Funaki eagerly supported his partner as Triple H and Taka went hold for hold. Taka showed more fire and heart than ever before in the biggest match of his career, sending Triple H reeling with an Asai moonsault! Michinoku got a very close backslide, as well as a moonsault giving him a close near fall. Triple H decided to retreat for the WWF Championship, but Funaki distracted the referee allowing Taka to low blow 'the Game' and clock him with the belt! Taka picked Triple H up for the Michinoku Driver, but Triple H slid free and planted him with the Pedigree!

Do You Feel It?
The former WWF Light Heavyweight Champion came up short despite a valiant effort against 'the Game' tonight on SmackDown!, and Triple H could not have been more relieved. Funaki attempted to aid to Taka Michinoku in the ring, and that's when 'the Game' decided to give Funaki a Pedigree for good measure! He celebrated on the middle rope with the WWF Championship high, but was left frozen when The Rock made his arrival! 'The People's Champ' hit the ring, going at it with Triple H with no McMahon-Helmsley regime in sight. Rock tried to dish up the Rock Bottom, but 'the Game' bailed from the ring. 'The Brahma Bull' talked trash to Triple H, with three weeks remaining until Backlash.

Shane McMahon ducked behind a wall in the corridor: the Acolytes zooming past in search of the boss's son. Shane caught his breath in relief, finally having lost Bradshaw and Faarooq.

Cheeseburger
Perry Saturn
and Dean Malenko stalked catering, where they spotted the WWF Hardcore Champion Crash Holly celebrating his defense earlier tonight with a cheeseburger. The WWF Light Heavyweight Champion followed Saturn's orders, and the two planned an attack, storming Crash, and ramming the burger in his mouth! Saturn tried to cover Crash for a near fall, when Hardcore Holly overheard the commotion and dropped the food from his tray, bouncing it off of Malenko's head! Holly swung for Saturn who dodged it; the Radicalz telling the Holly Cousins that this wasn't over! Saturn was incensed; Crash complained about his cheeseburger.

Corporate Lackeys
X-Pac
walked to the ring accompanied by his D-Generation X ally Road Dogg. As the two stood centre of the ring, the hype man began to talk about Chris Jericho's reckoning, and how he got off lucky on Monday, where he got his ass kicked not just by "the Double-G" and "X-Shizzle", but by 'the Game' as well. He barked that X-Pac would finish the job 'the Game' started, because nobody talked ish about DX, and nobody talked ish about the McMahon-Helmsley Regime! Before Road Dogg could deliver their signature closing line, Chris Jericho interrupted the two on the rampway. With a microphone in hand, Y2J asked Road Dogg to take a moment and please shut the hell up. Mocking D-Generation X for falling into line, he questioned what happened to the DX of old - the DX that was cutting edge and cool? All he saw in the ring now were a couple of desperate sidekicks! Y2J told X-Pac he may have been wanting a piece of Triple H, but his balls were in Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley's purse - but there is still hope for the DX lackeys yet. Jericho told them after he was through with them that they would never, ever be the same again! Jericho hit the ring, set for singles action with X-Pac!

6 | Chris Jericho def. X-Pac (w/Road Dogg) (4:33)
Chris Jericho was on a tear when it came to the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, inserting himself where the Rock was in trouble following his Steel-Cage Handicap match on RAW is WAR. Although Jericho was beaten down, he came to the Ice Palace clear headed, wanting a piece of Triple H. Jericho was keen to ensure there wasn't another repeat of RAW, baseball sliding Road Dogg down on the floor. It gave X-Pac the opening, cocky as ever. Y2J mounted a comeback when the Bronco Buster landed, striking with a step-up enzuigiri! Road Dogg tried to interfere just to get locked in the Walls of Jericho. X-Pac roundhouse kicked Jericho in the back of the head before attempting the X-Factor. Y2J blocked it before taking him down with a facebuster and landing the springboard moonsault off the second rope for the victory!

Chris Jericho wisely slid out of the ring as Road Dogg stampeded the ring; Road Dogg furious that Y2J had managed to beat his teammate X-Pac. Jericho gloated bombastically on the rampway, his hand raised tall.

Terri spoke with her friend and mentor the Fabulous Moolah in the locker room, where she enthusiastically popped a video tape into the VCR, showing the Legend how she humiliated the Kat on their spa day this past Monday. Moolah told her she wasn't just good looks: she was a mastermind. Terri told Moolah she knew Kat was be too embarrassed to show up tonight, which was why she wanted to humiliate Kat even more in a tag team match on RAW is WAR. Moolah proposed they give Mae Young a matching haircut!

Outside the Rock's dressing room Jonathan Coachman stood by. We will hear from 'the People's Champ' after the break!

xL7OMpT.png

The Rock Says
Jonathan Coachman
was now standing by with the Rock, asking him about everything that happened this past week. The Rock was all business, telling Coachman he had been to hell and back all down the line; he went to RAW, and he whooped three bad men's asses all over the steel-cage, to earn another shot at the WWF Championship! Where there was opportunity, there was chaos - that was exactly what the Rock endured this past Monday night. Rock noted the stitches in his forehead, the band-aid on his forehead telling the story. Rock was man enough to admit he got his ass handed to him. But it wasn't by Triple H, it wasn't by D-Generation X, it wasn't even by Shane McMahon and his tiny monkey-ass screaming at people to "hurt Rocky!" The Rock was massacred by nine guys and a Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley. The Rock had one thing to say about that, and that was come Backlash in under three weeks, it wouldn't be a nine-on-one match when the Rock faces Triple H. And come April 30, when was done kicking the cr*p out of Triple H all over Washington, D.C., there would be only one man standing, and his name shall be the Rock: the new WWF Champion! He turned his attention to Chris Benoit, talking about the WWF Intercontinental Champion's infatuation with making people squeal.

That was only because 'the Canadian Crippler' didn't have the testicular fortitude to make women squeal on a Saturday night in Saskatoon! Rock told Benoit if he wanted to make him squeal so bad, the only squealing Chris would hear would be the shrieking sound of his own voice when he took the WWF Intercontinental Championship, and stuck it straight up his candy-ass! 'The People's Champ' signed off with a catchphrase and an eyebrow-raise - ready for Benoit in the main event!

7 | Jacqueline def. Tori (w/WWF Women's Champion Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) (1:55)
Tori hoped to make up for her boyfriend X-Pac's loss, taking on the number one contender to the WWF Women's Championship Jacqueline. Jackie wanted her rematch with Stephanie, who claimed to be not cleared to compete. It didn't stop her from managing Tori, watching on proud of her new friend. Jacqueline had her eyes on the prize and repeatedly took her eyes off of Tori. X-Pac's girlfriend failed to control the pace of the match as Jackie came off the ropes with a tornado DDT, hooking the leg for the win.

Jacqueline celebrated her win but was unsatisfied - the number one contender inviting Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley to step into the ring. She wanted the WWF Women's Championship back, but Stephanie pridefully shook her head at Jacqueline, smiling at Jackie's rage! The title would be on the line between these two women, but when would Stephanie heal from her apparent injuries?

Return of the Wife
Vince McMahon
watched from his office, the Chairman proudly proclaiming that Stephanie was the spitting image of her old man! She wasn't falling for Jacqueline's trash talking. Triple H was more concentrated on talking with Chris Benoit than he was his wife's business - the WWF Champion asking the WWF Intercontinental Champion if he was ready to finish what they had started on RAW. 'The Canadian Crippler' responded that he couldn't wait to lock the Crossface in and bend Rock's neck backwards into his spine. 'The Game' told Benoit to save him a piece come Backlash, to which Benoit grinned and walked off. Triple H turned back to Vince, who was now mid-phonecall. Suddenly, his demeanor changed. After hanging up, the Chairman reluctantly told Triple H that it was his wife Linda: she was going to be at RAW this Monday night! 'The Game' rolled his eyes as Vince told him he wouldn't be there as he's on business in Europe. Triple H assured his father-in-law he had it under control: everything would go their way, CEO or not. The Chairman embraced the WWF Champion in a family hug. What did Linda McMahon have in store this Monday?

Set Up
The Acolytes
continued to patrol the parking lot in search of Shane McMahon. Faarooq told Bradshaw he was probably gone by now, but Bradshaw stubbornly told Faarooq that "the Japanese" weren't going to pay up if they didn't kick his ass. All of a sudden the two found themselves ambushed by T&A! Trish Stratus was present watching her men Test and Albert duke it out with the Acolytes! It had to be orchestrated by Shane, as T&A left Bradshaw laying on the concrete floor; Faarooq sent careening into the side of a production truck! Trish congratulated her boys on a job well done, leaving the Acolytes in shambles.

8 | The Rock def. WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit (6:40)
The date was set for Backlash: the Rock challenging Triple H for the WWF Championship. Prior to that, Chris Benoit had unfinished business with 'the Brahma Bull', unsatisfied with the beating the Rock received on RAW. Rock was put on the defensive but fired back with a floatover DDT. The expertise of the Canadian took over, and Benoit focused on the shoulder of 'the People's Champ'. The chants of "Rocky" kept him fighting, and soon he mounted a comeback, dishing up a spinebuster for Benoit. Ready to hit the ropes for the People's Elbow, Benoit tripped Rock and locked in the Crippler Crossface! Rock was able to roll through into a near fall, Benoit got up quickly to eat the Rock Bottom for three!

The Rock overcame the WWF Intercontinental Champion tonight on SmackDown!, but Chris Benoit was not about to go down lightly. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn hit the ring, both men trying to destabilize 'the People's Champ'! Rock fought both men off, but for a second time in one week, Chris Benoit jumped Rock from behind - the Radicalz cornering and putting the boots to the Rock! Rock was in trouble, but Chris Jericho hit the ring - Y2J assisting the Rock in fending the Radicalz from the ring! Benoit was left in the ring alone, and Jericho whipped Benoit into a second Rock Bottom courtesy of 'the Great One'! Rock and Jericho stood tall in the ring, while Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley watched from their office monitor, with scowls on their faces. Rock was ready for anything, and it seemed that Y2J had his back all the way!
