Anybody got good tips on how to quit smoking? I been smoking since I was 17yrs old, but it's time for me to quit. It's bad for my health I woke up this morning , and felt like I was drowning, it costs too much money, and it's just not good. I've had enough...it's the hardest addiction to break, and the one battle I can't seem to win. I've tried patches, gum, Chantix, cold turkey etc. The only thing that ever worked if only temporarily was getting pregnant, but that's a bit extreme. Any ideas? Has anybody gone through this?

Go up to strangers with yellow teeth and fingers, bad breath and amidst fits of coughing, ask if you're attractive to them.

There's really no tips I can give. If you can't manage to quit yourself, then any advice anyone here offers won't do the trick. But to play off of X-Power's thing, maybe when you add up how much money you spend on it a month, and how much good that money could be doing elsewhere, it'll shock you into quitting.

I never smoked, but from what other mates told me is that:
1- you need to have good heart and really willing to quit that habbit.
2- you can try to reduce factor technique (reduce the number of cig, per day for like couple of weeks and eventually you will stop) [imo not a good idea lol]


3-or you can just start chewing gum (everytime you want to smoke) like a one of those hipee's at Frankfurt streets :y:

Just don't smoke. That's what my dad did when I was born. Just went the cold turkey.

Apparently, those niccorette patches/gum and shit are just that. Absolute shit. Going cold turkey is the ultimate test of yourself, to see if you can personally get over this "addiction." It should almost be a test to yourself, that you got yourself into this, now get yourself out of it.

That's what I always viewed smokers who wanted to quit, and what they should go through. But i'm harsh.

Pretty much get it in your head that if you don't quit you're going to fucking die from it. The end. That's what did it for me.

OIk I stopped by realising where money could go. You realise the benifitts, famil etc. Thats what I done and stopped for 3 weeks I only re-lit to to help stress of my exams.

Personally, I started coughing up phlegm and blood in the shower one morning, went to the hospital, and he told me I had to quit before I ruined my lungs and throat so bad they couldn't heal. I was only 18 when it happened, had been smoking since I was 15. I'm 21 now, so it's been a good 3 and a half years. I just needed that reality call, scared the shit out of me, so I quit, and feel much better now. More stressed about some shit, but stress less about not having a cigarette.

Take it from me... you feel better, and there's smaller risk at destroying yourself.

Watch a few documentaries on Smoking.

Best way to keep you away from smoking. And once you've got away, you'll eventually quit.

Cold turkey. If you try and use the gum/patches, chances are you'll fall back into it.

Just get a picture of a diseased lung or something and whenever you feel like a fag, just look at it and hopefully it'll put you off.

Maybe die. Maybe. There are people who smoke their whole lives and never have any issues.

They put those on the packs here. Totally desensitized tbh.

As to your query I dunno it's different for each person. The best thing I can suggest is to set yourself a smoking schedule and stick to it.
