So I've been playing with the "The War Rages On" mod, which kicks off in 1997. I wanted to do a little micro indie and try to grow it, so I created a company called Third Coast Wrestling that is based in the Mid South (Texas specifically) and does shows along the gulf coast. I'll eventually share more info on the progress of that, as I get to it.
But, I forgot before I started this game that I had modified the database to build in a scenario where Vince tapped out to WCW and sold WWF to Chris-Craft Industries and moved Raw to UPN, which is under Chris-Craft's ownership. I also had HBK and Triple H leave to WCW, along with Undertaker and most of his BSK guys like Savio Vega, Rikishi, Brian Adams, Mideon, and Yokozuna.
As far as name changes -
Undertaker = Mark Callous
Triple H = Paul Levesque
Yokozuna = Kokina
Rikishi = Solo Fatu
Mideon = Tex Slazenger
For whatever reason, I didn't send Godfather to WCW I guess, and I've also noticed that Kane is not in either of the big two companies, but I'm gonna let that just ride.
Either way, WCW's roster is STUPIDLY stacked, because in addition to the people I had built in to go to WCW, they also signed Sid Vicious from WWF. WWF's roster is still really damn good too though, and arguably has more upside. I made it through the year 1997 and the results of the awards are as follows -
Wrestler of the Year - Shawn Michaels (WCW)
Company of the Year - WWF (not bad considering I had put them at a disadvantage to WCW)
Match of the Year - Shawn Michaels vs. Eddy Guerrero at WCW World War 3
Show of the Year - WWF Survivor Series
Tag Team of the Year - The Outsiders (WCW)
Young Wrestler of the Year - Juvi Guerrera (WCW)
Veteran Wrestler of the Year - Hulk Hogan (WCW)
Just looking at the PPVs from either company is a lot of fun because the AI has been putting together some great stuff. I strongly encourage you to take a look at what I feel are some of the best cards produced by the two companies...
WWF Survivor Series (Show of the Year)
WCW Starrcade (my personal favorite on paper I think)
WWF SummerSlam
WCW Fall Brawl (WCW's best rated show)
WCW Souled Out (the first PPV with full star power)
Also one funny tidbit is that Sid Vicious got signed to WCW and just days before his WWF contract expired and his WCW contract began, he publicly exposed the rampant drug abuse in WCW, which resulted in like half the roster being pissed off at him and developing a strong dislike relationship towards him. The toxicity in that locker room has to be astronomical with all the drugs, egos and backstabbing.
