STOCKHOLM (AP) — Police in Sweden say a 10-year-old boy has confessed to killing a 4-year-old boy in a village earlier this year.
Police said Wednesday the boy strangled the younger one with a skipping rope Oct. 16, but declined to comment on the motive.
Local media reports say the 4-year-old was killed after running off from a playground in the southern village of Ljungby where he had been involved in a dispute with other children.
The boy was found dead in a shrub near a residential area a few hours later.
More than 35 police officers have been involved in the investigation and at least 65 children, aged between 5 and 15, have been questioned.
Children under the age of 15 cannot be punished under Swedish law and the matter will now be handled by social services.
