A teenager who recently aired a family dispute with her mother on Nancy Grace's TV show was fatally shot in Brooklyn by her baby's father on Monday, police sources and family said.
Jashaya Stanley, 19, splashed bleach on ex-con Joshua Knox outside the Whitman Houses on Carlton Ave. in Fort Greene after he punched her in the face during an argument, family and witnesses said.
Knox, 19, walked away from the brawl, but came back moments later with a gun in his hand about 6:20 p.m., witnesses said. Another argument erupted, and Knox opened fire on the mother of his 3-year-old daughter, sources and relatives said.
"He shot her six times in the chest," Stanley's aunt Deridre Baker told the Daily News. "He couldn't beat her. I guess he had to kill her."
As she lay on the ground, hugging her wounded chest, Stanley uttered the name of her killer, "Joshua," a witness said.
Stanley - who grew up in the neighborhood but lived with her aunt in Bushwick - was taken by ambulance to Brooklyn Hospital Center, but she could not be saved.
Knox - who was just released from prison this month after doing time for selling drugs - fled the scene and was still at large last night.
The brutal slaying comes just after Stanley reconciled with her mother following a bitter feud over the mishandling of a $13,000 settlement the teen won when she burned her hand as a baby on a radiator at a Chinese restaurant.
Stanley scorched her hand when she was just 10 months old and was awarded the settlement on the condition that she could receive the money when she turned 18.
But her mother, Jasmine Stanley - who deposited the cash in her checking account - cut her a check for only $8,500.
When the daughter sued the mother for $5,000, the two dueled on "Swift Justice" with Nancy Grace in March.
The daughter won Grace's judgment. The mother and daughter recently reconciled their differences, a relative said last night.With Bruce Furman
