A Sydney woman allegedly bit off part of her boyfriend's tongue during an argument at a Kings Cross motel late on Tuesday night.
Nineteen-year-old Jake Collins' tongue was almost fully severed when Danielle Lee Hanna, 28, allegedly bit it because he wouldn't let her get a cab, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Mr Collins appeared at a police station "screaming and screaming for help" after suffering the injury, a Sydney court heard.
Hanna was arrested at Formule 1 motel, the scene of the alleged attack.
"They had an argument, she wanted to go home and tried to get into a cab but Collins wouldn't let her so she bit his tongue off," police said.
Mr Collins underwent surgery at St Vincent's Hospital for what was described as "a major laceration to his tongue".
Hanna has been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm and will appear in court again on July 5.
