ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man for a murder believed to be a Mexican drug cartel hit.

Jose Talavera, 25, was caught Wednesday night in Valencia County.

Deputies think Talavera, his cousin and another man kidnapped and killed Danny Baca in 2008 because of a drug dispute.

All three were featured on "America's Most Wanted," and are believed to be connected to one of the Mexican cartels.

Baca was shot more than two dozen times and his body set on fire:

"To pull out what's probably an AK-47 or an SKS type of rifle, a big assault rifle, and shoot him," Bernalillo County sheriff's Sgt. Mark Kmatz said. "We found 29 casings, and the autopsy said 28 hits. That's a dangerous person we're talking about here over a drug debt."

The other suspects, Mario Talavera and Jaime Veleta, are believed to be in Mexico.

Deputies say José Talavera admits he was there when Baca was murdered but says he didn't pull the trigger.
