New York, NY (Sports Network) - The National Football League will reportedly move its marquee game outside the United States for the first time within the next eight years.

According to the Sunday Telegraph, the NFL has assured London officials that their city will host the Super Bowl as early as 2014. An official announcement is expected at some point in the next 12 months.

Football's title game would be held at Wembley Stadium, which has hosted two sellout regular season games thus far and will welcome the Patriots and Buccaneers for a regular season matchup next season.

Bid packages for the 2014 Super Bowl must be released by November, and a final decision on the location will be made at the following spring meeting.

London is already the site of the 2012 Summer Olympics and is attempting to secure the 2018 World Cup. The report states that the Super Bowl could bring upwards of 350 million pounds in revenue to the city.

Yeah, lets move the most popular sporting event America has to a country that the majority of the people could care less about. Great move...

Worse idea. London crowd doesnt even enjoy the regular season games, they really think they'll enjoy the biggest sporting event America has to offer?

It struck me as odd as well. It should come to Canada :shifty: No, it should really always be in the States though. I'm not even American, and even I agree it should remain in the States. Not only will the time be all fucked up, but the fans aren't as in to it.

This is dumb as hell. Word can't describe how dumb it is. Hopefully someone realizes how dumb it is before it happens.

Not to be outdone Vince McMahon has announced a bold decision to hold Wrestlemania 27 in Antarctica. When asked about the decision he had this to say

Vince McMahon: We feel it's time to expand our reach to a previously untapped market. We have hundreds of thousands of fans from Antarctica on the WWE Universe who have been begging us to host Wrestlemania there. We are very excited to be bringing the WWE's brand of sports entertainment to Antarctica.

Ok i'm not saying this is a great idea but here are a few ideas to consider.

1. Most of the audience will be American fans traveling there anyway, so I don't think the crowd will be that much different.

2. How is it different to the regular watching consumer like you and me? We're still getting the same thing on TV if they stick to American timing.

3. There's only that many NFL quality stadiums in the States, and holding it every year in a NFL team's stadium isn't that special anyway.

There is way it would be able to stick to American timing. I have watched it live for the last 3 years and it always finishes in the early hours of the morning.

This is bloody stupid, US don't want it over here, we don't want anything to do with the NFL, Wembley is a footy stadium, keep it that way. Stupid decision.

I actually remember like a year ago, there was a game in London. I think it was the Dolphins played...it drew a big crowd, so apparently, you guys do want something to do with the NFL.

Yeah that's just the main time. I do think it's dumb to start trying to move out of US and go to a soccer dominated coutnry. It won't be that easy. Go to a place where there is no crazy obession in sport yet, maybe China, maybe Japan.
