SummerSlam match speculation

The hope is that Punk vs. McIntyre will take place at SummerSlam on 8/3 in Cleveland, but we were told that as of right now it’s up in the air whether Punk would be ready by that date. It was emphasized to me that he could be ready but it’s not a sure thing. Punk will be making an announcement on Smackdown this week which was teased like he would be announcing he’s cleared.

Regarding Rhodes vs. Sikoa and Paul vs. Knight, as things stand this week, bot of those matches are earmarked for SummerSlam and not Money in the Bank.

Both quotes from the Observer this week. He was thinking Knight vs Paul was gonna be MITB last week so I'm pretty sure someone told him it wasn't bc as we all thought it's planned for SummerSlam instead.

Solo vs Cody makes sense especially with the setup at Clash but man I don't know how hot that'll be.

Yeah just doesn't scream SummerSlam to me but they'll probably work in Roman's return to make it bigger. Priest/Gunther isn't exactly a mega match either so it's almost like they're really banking on Punk/Drew

Yeah. Should honestly do Cody/Solo at MITB, and maybe Cody vs Orton at SummerSlam. Could even do it as a respectful thing where Cody gives Orton a shot because of their relationship and history, or Orton just hits an RKO on him. I much prefer the first one.

Orton vs Cory is the only match I want at Summerslam.

Solo is still a nothingburger, he's nowhere near a marquee enough name to headline a stadium.

I think they're gonna do Cody, KO and Orton vs Bootleg Bloodline at MITB but I was thinking Cody vs Orton would be booked from there, doesn't seem like that short program is happening tho so Orton might just keep doing his thing

See I always thought the 6 man since Clash on Sunday for MITB as a way to get Cody on the card without having to rush anyone like solo getting the singles match

This would make sense too. But it’s also a match they can do on TV with KO taking the fall to set up solo getting a shot

If you're doing that then Drew should have won at Clash, retained in a rematch at MITB then he could have lost to Gunther at SummerSlam (which is way bigger than Priest/Gunther) by doing the angle with Punk they did at Clash.
