Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed that his promotion is going on as-scheduled for a January super-show that will feature Daniel Cormier, Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez and maybe even a couple other champs. After cancelling a second straight show, Coker knows that several fighters have grown upset with the lack of cards put on by Strikeforce. He talked to MMAFighting.com about that and more recently.

Coker added that the plans are for Cormier, Rockhold and Melendez to all fight on one night, along with "Ronda Rousey and Nate Marquardt, as well." Rousey is the women's bantamweight champion, while Marquardt is the welterweight champ.

Strikeforce first cancelled a card in September that was to feature Melendez and Pat Healy. They cancelled a second event that was planned for November after no opponent for Cormier could be found. The former Olympian was scheduled to face Frank Mir, who pulled out with an injury.

This show better deliver, Strikeforce is so close to shutting down all together that this could be their last show if they can't pull off a spectacular event.

I would mark for a Rousey vs. Cyborg main event.

Cormier and Marquardt will likely face scrubs (I couldn't name you a Strikeforce welterweight).

I could see them doing that fight between Rousey and Cyborg just that fight alone would be big enough to sell this card. Not sure when Cyborgs suspension is up, but i believe it's next month. They could do Melendez/Healy as well.

Rousey/Cyborg is all I want before they possibly close their doors. Can see that being a damn good fight.

That's really only the marketable fight SF has right now. Could see it happening, and paving the way for Rousey to get into the UFC.

Hopefully when SF does shut down the women can make it to the UFC, even if its just Rousey vs whoever they can find.

I think before the end of '13 we'll see Rousey on a UFC card, Dana is like in love with her and really seems to be on board with Woman in the UFC as long as she is the main centerfold. I'm sure they could find a few other female fighters as well. Just go out and Raid Invicta's roster. For anybody who doesn't know they're an all Female MMA promotion, they've got some decent talent. Here's a link to their website for anybody interested.

This would be a good final show for Strikeforce, hopefully all the champions can remain healthy for this card so that it doesn't have to be cancelled again. If they can pull this off it wouldn't surprise me if they close the doors because there just aren't enough guys left anymore to keep it going with regular quality events that Showtime will want to air.

Kinda reminds me of the Strikeforce card on CBS where it featured 3 championship fights. Just the big brawl at the end really tainted it.

That is how they can close the show, one massive free for all brawl. Over the top of the cage elimination match.

Last gasp for Strikeforce.

Showtime to end the deal, so why not go out with a bang.

Let everyone take all the steroids and TRT they want and then there will be no injuries to fuck up the card, no commissions test at one off events trufax.
