Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson

Official Fight Card

Heavyweight bout: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Dan Henderson

So far only this fight has been confirmed but there are a few others that are all but confirmed to be on this show.

Fedor is coming off two loses whereas Henderson won the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title in his last fight. This is a heavyweight bout, not light heavyweight, so Fedor will have just a slight advantage over Henderson. I have to go with Fedor for the win here even though he has lost two in a row.

My pick was for Fedor as soon as it was announced this fight would be taking place. Fedor is on a two fight losing streak. He has to go for broke. He was once dubbed the greatest and best fighter in all of MMA and then after two losses there were so many people writing him off... it is like they forgot his years of dominance. Like he can't do it anymore and the fact is... the guy can still do it. He can still whoop up on people. Just he is a smaller heavyweight so it'll be harder for him to compete against the larger guys. Not to also mention the toll of all of his battles over the years are finally catching up to him. But the guy is still very lethal. And now he has something to fight for. Hendo... is gonna be in trouble in this one.

I think Hendo is going to be the first guy to stop Fedor. Got to love Hendo, he'd fight god if you asked him to.

OFFICIAL MAIN CARD RESULTS

•Dan Henderson def. Fedor Emelianenko via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 4:12
•Miesha Tate def. Marloes Coenen via submission (arm-triangle choke) - Round 4, 3:03 (to become new women's bantamweight champion)
•Tim Kennedy def. Robbie Lawler via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
•Tyron Woodley def. Paul Daley via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
•Tarec Saffiedine def. Scott Smith via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)

Hendo is the fucking man. He took a big shot and came right back.

Fedor has no more excuses anymore, first he got subbed, then it was doctor's stoppage, and this was a finish. It's over for him, the sport has passed him by.

Did not expect that. Great job by Henderson to defeat him that convincingly especially since this is a division above his normal weight. Fedor has to stop now, it will tarnish his legacy if he keeps coming back and losing.

This fight should put the nail in his coffin, Fedor fanatics were coming up with excuses with his last two losses, saying he just got caught by a triangle, could happen to anybody. Then he gave up too much weight to Bigfoot, there is no excuse for this one. He got stopped, it wasn't a early stoppage. He got pounded out by a middleweight.

Hendo is still one of the best fighters on the planet and one of the toughest. Who wears his age very well and doesn't seem to be slowing down. I like where he is at, his Strikeforce contract pays way more than the UFC was willing to pay him.
