Last weekends “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidalâ€￾ drew in approximately 460,000 viewers with a 1.35 household rating according to industry insiders.

These figures mark the event as the sixth-highest watched Strikeforce event on Showtime this year.

“Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidalâ€￾ took place this past Saturday from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. In the main event of the evening lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez successfully defended his title against number one contender, Jorge Masvidal.

The shows rating of 460,000 falls short of the 2011 average on Showtime which is set in stone at 521,375 viewers per major event. (Excluding their challengers series) Which many consider a disappointment considering that one of the best ranked lightweight fighters in the world fought for free on subscription cable.
