Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has confirmed that the second round of the highly anticipated heavyweight grand prix will not take place until sometime this summer, but that the April 9 card is shaping up with two title fights on tap for the event.
The event will feature a very intriguing match-up between reigning Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz (24-7 MMA, 5-0 SF) and slugger Paul “Semtex†Daley (27-9-2 MMA, 2-0 SF). Also back in action will be Strikeforce lightweight kingpin Gilbert Melendez (18-2 MMA, 8-1 SF) as he defends his title against Japanese superstar Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2 MMA, 0-0 SF).
There has been no confirmation as to where the event will take place at this time. More details about the April 9 card are expected in the coming days from Strikeforce officials, including confirmation about a possible bout between former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle.
