2008 Olympic Judo champion Satoshi Ishii will make his Strikeforce debut on April 1.
The Strikeforce Challengers 15 April 1 card in Stockton, Calif., will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Justin Wilcox and Rodrigo Damm. The card will also feature 2008 Olympic Judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii vs. Scott Lighty.
The promotion announced the bouts in a March 3 press release. The card will also include a lightweight clash between prospects David Douglas and Carlos Fodor.
Wilcox (10-3) is coming off of a decision win over DREAM veteran Vitor “Shaolin†Ribeiro. The American Kickboxing Academy fighter hasn’t lost since a 2008 submission at the hands of Mitsuhiro Ishida.
His opponent, Damm (9-4), is a well-traveled veteran but has lost three of his last four, including knockout losses against Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez and Sengoku prospect Maximo Blanco.
Ishii (4-1) will be making his U.S. MMA debut. In his last fight, Ishii defeated K-1 legend Jerome Le Banner by decision at Dynamite!! 2010. Lighty (6-1) also has a kickboxing base and holds a 1-1 record under the Strikeforce banner.
