A few thoughts based on what i've seen in my time on this forum.
I constantly see from much of the community here that whenever someone notable here bashes something or someone, a bunch of people chime in, and whether these people (who know who they are) want to admit it or not, they in actuality either don't give a damn either way, or flat out disagree, but won't say anything because then people will throw mean words at them or click that negrep button. That more than annoys me, it just sickens me. For example:
Vince Russo. Anytime anything happens that someone doesn't like, he will either blame it on Russo or call it Russolike or Russoesque. I can't think of anyone more hated in the sports or sports entertainment words. What annoys me is that a lot of people here weren't even wrestling fans when Russo was doing stupid stuff in WCW, and besides that, they blame everything on him when in reality he wasn't the only writer for WCW, and he certainly isn't the only guy pitching ideas for TNA. Does anyone really know which decisions Russo personally made and pushed through? No. No booking decision has come with a "Russo wuz here" sticker, so how do you know he's to blame for everything wrong with TNA? For all you know he's made the decision on some things you really liked, but god knows it's heresy in the IWC to suggest that he was involved in said decision. I'm not denying that he's done some unbelievably stupid crap over the years, but he certainly doesn't deserve all that he gets - especially when most of what he gets is given to him by people who weren't fans back then or really don't care either way.
Mike Adamle, Vladimir Kozlov, Cody Rhodes, and anyone else new: GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO GROW, BITCHWHORES. *cough* Especially since a lot of people only chime in on the bashing once they see someone with a whole lot of green boxes start the bashing. Mike Adamle clearly wasn't a wrestling fan when he was hired, but he's a great commentator and given a month or two I truly believe he'll be right up there with the best. Vladimir Kozlov people say sucks, for reasons I can't quite grasp, since we haven't seen much of him and what we have seen has been quite good. Is it his mic skills that trouble you? Would you rather have the guy with the Russian gimmick get on the mic and speak in a language you don't understand? As for Cody, yes, he is the Default CAW. He's just average in wrestling ability and mic skills, and it'll be a couple years before he's even in the midcard title spotlight, but he certainly isn't BAD in the ring and he has better mic skills than a lot of people higher up than him (Looking at you, Dave "Weapons Are Allowed" Batista). There's nothing about him that is justification for hatred, because he's new, and for a new person he's not bad at all. And yet a select few of you decide to hate these three people, for idiotic reasons that all stem from the fact that they've spent less time on screen in their WWE careers than you have throwing up over the course of your life. Stop being idiots.
Don West. You know, i'd like to see any one of you step up and try to do his job, see if you can even articulate WORDS when the mic is on and the match is under way. Perhaps he gets a little TOO into it with his "DID YOU SEE THAT?! WHAAAT, WHAAAT, WHAT DID HE JUST DOOOOO?!", but i'd rather see a guy oversell than a guy undersell the match. Don West spews charisma from every orifice, and he knows his stuff. So... which of those traits do you feel is negative for the position of commentator?
TNA. "Oh look, a Pole on a Pole on a Pole match! Way to suck like Russo in a gay bar." "Feast or Fired? More like SUCK OR BLOW!" "Joe and Angle in an MMA-STYLE MATCH?! WAY TO RUIN WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME!" "Wow, every time they hire a WWE guy he immediately becomes champion. *the next day* WHY ISN'T BOOKER T CHAMPION?!" At least TNA tries new things. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, but i'll watch either way because I'm treated to a new experience. Besides, remember how everyone thought the Knockouts were a stupid idea? "Who wants to see non-supermodel women with real gimmicks, in real storylines, fighting main-event quality matches?" By the looks of things, the world wants to see that. And the hipocrisy/idiocy of the last quote speaks for itself. You complain about TNA because you WANT to complain about TNA, not for any logical reason. Any type of new match is immediately hated, every booking decision shit upon, and of course, everything is blamed on Vince Russo, Professional Wrestling's bane, lucifer, destroyer, black plague despite being white, and proverbial child rapist.
The Great Khali, Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, Snitsky, and virtually any other 'big' superstar who is not Kane or Big Show. People say they can't wrestle or are ugly or whatever. I ask you: when you're 7'3, almost 500 pounds, what do you expect? Khali and V as the new London and Kendrick, flying around the ring hitting Sliced Bread, then both climbing the turnbuckle and hitting a diving corkscrew double foot stomp to the announce table where their opponent is sprawled? Shut the hell up. Their styles and abilities are perfectly suited for their size and gimmicks. As for their looks, wow, I expected people to whine that the Knockouts aren't playboy covergirls, but I didn't know that people whined that the superstars weren't playgirl coverboys! Great that you're so secure about your sexuality though. Embrace the new world of acceptance and freedom! KY is doing great things for anal sex.
Black Reign, Rellik (that's Killer spelled backwards), Super Eric, Stone Cold Shark Boy, and gimmicks/gimmick matches in general. All of the above are talented in the ring, so there's no reason to hate them for that. Yet they are all hated, simply because of their gimmicks. I kindly ask you to shut the hell up. Professional wrestling NEEDS gimmicks. Were it not for them, every match would be "I hate you because ______ and I want the belt!" "Yeah, well I hate you because ______ and this is MY belt!" Gimmicks and quirks add story. And I know you're gonna say "I don't want to see gimmicks, I don't want story, I just want wrestling!" I ask you: if that ideology worked, why isn't WWE doing that? Simple: THAT DOES NOT WORK. It gets boring and repetitive, so stop living in this fantasy world where such a concept makes money. Besides, why do I hear one minute that "If you want wrestling talent go to the Indies, because televised wrestling requires mic talent", and "Stop wasting my time with this, I want wrestling!" the next? Pick a side and stick with it.
And these are only a few things I see on a daily basis here. Aside from giving my views on them to counter the very few people who actually care about those issues, i'm writing this to tell you lemmings, and you know who you are, to SPEAK YOUR ACTUAL MINDS. Pretty much EVERYONE posts about how Sharkboy sucks, and yet out there in the real world he's getting some of the biggest pops at PPVs. That's just indicative of the fact that someone notable here posts an opinion and the vast majority are too scared or too yearning for popularity and green boxes to do anything besides impersonate xerox machines and say the exact same thing. I just railed against a lot of notables on this forum and look at me, i'm not dead. Start doing the same. It's time to stop seeing copy-and-pastes from everyone here and start hearing some actual opinions.
