Steven Siler says he's fighting Rony Jason at UFC Fight Night 38
A pair of featherweights will try to start new winning streaks this March.
A bout between Steven Siler (23-11 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Rony Jason (13-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) is being targeted for UFC Fight Night 38. Siler announced news of the matchup on his Twitter account, saying he was signing his bout agreement.
UFC Fight Night 38, though not yet announced by the promotion, is expected to take place March 23 at Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Brazil. Broadcast plans for the card have not been revealed. The reported main event being targeted is a rematch between Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun†Rua.
Siler will be looking to get back on track after having a two-fight winning streak snapped by Dennis Bermudez in November at the UFC’s “Fight for the Troops 3″ show. He dropped that bout by unanimous decision after back-to-back wins over Kurt Holobaugh and Mike Brown. The Brown victory was a 50-second knockout. The “TUF 14″ veteran started his UFC career 3-0 before a loss to Darren Elkins at UFC 154. After starting his pro career a rough 5-7, Siler has gone 18-4.
Jason will be looking to rebound, as well, following the first loss of his UFC career. The Brazilian was stopped with a head kick after 40 seconds in November in front of his home fans at UFC Fight Night 32. That snapped his three-fight UFC streak that saw him win the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil†against Godofredo Pepey, take “Knockout of the Night†honors against Sam Sicilia at UFC 153 and submit Mike Wilkinson at UFC on FUEL TV 10, all in Brazil.
