Welcome, to this SPECIAL EDITION of the RAW review. For the first time since 2002, the King of the Ring is back. That historic tournament where mid-carders are given a chance to step up. Surely, someone who deserves it will win this year. Right?
Also, Political Stuff. And I'll say it now... I won't cover that, I'll just give a short mention.
We start off with a KoTR match-up and its a good one.
Chris Jericho vs MVP (Told you it was a good one.)
Don't like these two meeting up so early, but them's the breaks. Both men try to go for the win early. Jericho misses a baseball slide by about a mile. MVP takes advantage by hitting a DDT and puts Chris in an Abdominal Stretch. Jericho comes back with forearms but MVP hits his Overhead Suplex. Jericho makes the comeback and hits the Bulldog. MVP rolls out of the way of the Lionsault, goes for the Playmaker but Jericho counters to the Walls and MVP taps!
Winner:Chris Jericho
After the match, Jericho sits on the throne. CM Punk is shown getting ready in the back and he will be in action, up next. COMMERCIALS!!!
CM Punk vs Matt Hardy (KoTR Quarterfinal)
Crowd is mostly Pro-Hardy. Bunch of counters early. Matt goes for a Side Effect, but Punk escapes by hitting some elbows and then a Neckbreaker. Ortonlock by Punk until he takes Matt to the corner and hits him with some knee strikes. CM goes for a Superplex but Matt escapes and hits the "Hey, LOOK AT ME I'M ON THE TOP ROPE EBOW". Matt follows up with a Clothesline in the corner. Punk counters the Bulldog attempt, and Irish Whips Matt to the corner where Punk hits the Running Knee and his own Bulldog. Punk goes for the Springboard Clothesline, but is caught by Matt who hits a Side Effect for two. Matt goes for the Twist of Fate. Punk counters and goes for the GTS, but Matt gets a roll-up. Punk blocks it by grabbing the legs and gets the pin and the win.
Winner:CM Punk
We get clips of Obama vs Hillary... In SvR 08 >_>. It is announced that the 4-way at Backlash will be held under Elimination Rules. JBL cuts a promo about said match, and says that on Sunday he'll be the champ. That was pretty much the gist of it. COMMERCIAL!
We are back and it is time for out next KoTR Quarterfinal.
The Great Khali vs Finlay w/Midget
Khali dominates as one would expect. Hornswoggle tries to help but that doesn't work. Finlay tries to help out Hornswoggle and gets Brain-Chopped for his troubles. Khali goes after Finlay's knee and slams it multiple times into the ring post, causing the DQ.
Winner:Finlay via DQ
Post match, the Big Show comes out and Khali does... NOTHING!
William Regal is out and he will be one of the next participants in the KoTR. His opponent will be... Horswoggle, who's still helping Finlay make it to the back. Regal goes after Hornswoggle and drags him into the ring.
William Regal vs Hornswoggle (Umm.. .Squash?)
Regal knocks Hornswoggle down, locks him in the Regal Stretch and the little man taps.
Winner:William Regal
The Semis are set. Punk vs Jericho and Regal vs Finlay. Backstage, HBK is walking to the arena. WALKING!! Commercial.
We are back with as HBK heads to the ring. He cuts basically the same promo from these past weeks and calls out my main man, Batista (Without glasses

Both men exchange verbals jabs and eventually have an INTENSE HANDSHAKE, INTENSE, I SAY. HBK bluffs going for a Superkick but Batista doesn't even flinch. Dave just walks away and stares at Shawn (No word on where it was a dissaproving stare or not).
HILLARY SPEAKS!
Lol, she gets booed as she cuts a lame promo.. Apparently she thinks that the fans only understand "wrestling speak". DON"T VOTE. ALL YOU'RE DOING IS CHOOSING FOR WHO WILL DRIVE THE US TO THE GROUND FOR THE NEXT 4YEARS!! Commercial.
We are back and Hardcore Holly is out and he's with a CAW. Holly will face Carlito.
Carlito vs Hardcore Holly
Fairly basic match with some good psychology. Carlito works over the back for the most part. Holly makes a comeback and goes for the Alabama Slam but he can't do it due to the pain in his back. Carlito hits a Backstabber and gets the win.
Winner:Carlito
Santino grabs the mic and claims that he and Carlito will soon have the tag belts around their bellies. Cody grabs the mic (Holy shit, IT TALKS!) and asks Santino how to say I'm going to hit you with the mic in Italian. Cody then hits Santino with the mic as Holly and CAWdy wipe out the heels.
Backstage, HHH cuts a promo. Something about the other 3 guys proving him wrong at Backlash. Commercial!
We are back and it is time for our first semi-final matchup.
Chris Jericho vs CM Punk
Both men start off a bit slow with some chain wrestling. Punk goes for the Springboard Clothesline but Jericho dropkicks the ropes. Backbreaker by Jericho and he goes for a submisson but Punk counters with the Pepsi Twist (The Hammerlock clothesline he used). Jericho hits a Rana then goes for the Walls which Punk counters into a roll-up. Jericho continues on the offensive as he hits a step-up Enzuguiri for 2. Punk hits a Snap Powerslam and goes for the GTS, but Jericho escapes and goes for the Lionsault. Punk tries to get the knees up but Jericho grabs the leg anyways and applies the Walls. Punk makes the ropes and the crowd boos. Jericho goes up top, but Punk hits him with a kick to the face and hits the GTS for the win.
Winner:CM Punk
Barrack Obama speaks! He stand for change and something about smelling what he's cooking. DON"T VOTE!!
William Regal vs Finlay
Regal goes right after the injured knee. Both men exchange stiff strikes (Yeah, I couldn't believe it either). More crazy brawling until Regal locks in the Regal Stretch and Finlay taps as his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
Winner:William Regal
John Mccain speaks! Let's be honest.. No one cares what he has to say. Once again, DON'T VOTE!
John Cena is backstage and I'm guessing he also cut a promo about Backlash. He probably mentioned ham-sammiches, thunder, and other random things. Commercial!
Barrack Obama vs Hillary Clinton (OHH COME ON!!)
Fake Bill Clinton managed to make this segment passable. Shit happens, Fake Obama (Who looks like Boris Diaw from the Phoenix Suns) hits a Barrack Bottom and goes for a People's Elbow but gets tripped up by fake Bill. Umaga comes out and saves us from this BS. I guess Umaga's a republican >_>
Winner:I'm going to say Umaga
JR plugs the SD your vote campaign after the "match". I plug my Don't VOTE campaign after this sentence... DON'T VOTE!
Face fivas come out, and congratulate Mickie on her title win. Heel divas say it was a fluke, all of them brawl. Mickie looks hot as usual. That was pretty much the segment.
Next Week, Mr.Kennedy returns! Commercial.

More stiff striking in this one. Punk gets the early advantage but that comes to a stop when Regal hits the Regal-Plex. Punk makes a comeback with a flurry of kicks to the head. Punk goes for the GTS but William hangs on to the ropes. He escapes, knees Punk in the head and makes him tap to the Regal Stretch.
Winner:William Regal... REALLY?
Another commercial, its time for our ME.
HHH-Cena-Taker-Kane vs JBL-Orton-Chavo-Edge (Someone doesn't belong here)
You know, I'm still pissed by how the KoTR ended. We get 10 minute worth of entrances, then we get another commercial. Ladies and gents, YOUR MAIN EVENT!
I won't recap the whole match because I was tired and lots of shit was going on. Kane gets the hot tag and starts cleaning house (By house, I mean Chavo). Kane Chokeslams Chavo but Edge hits Kane with a Spear and this one's over. Post-match, Edge gets an FU, HHH and Cena brawl, HHH gets Clotheslined to Hell, and Cena gets RKO'ed. JBL and Orton argue with one another but Taker hits a Double Chokeslam and he poses as the show ends.
Show Thoughts:Thumbs up for this week's RAW. All the KoTR matches were good, the main event (All 4 minutes of it) were entertaining and the skit with fake Hillary and Obama didn't totally suck. With that said:
WHAT THE FUCK, WWE? You have Punk go over Matt and Jericho (Two guys with pretty big fanbases) and then you have CM lose to a part-time wrestler? I understand the whole thing about Punk having a harder time reaching the finals, but should you use the KoTR to, oh I don't know... MAKE A MID-CARDER FAR MORE CREDIBLE? Instead, they give it to Regal. Look, I'm a big William Regal fan, but he's not a draw and he never will be. He's never been all that over with the fans anyways. Just a stupid, stupid decision by WWE.
Again, even with the stupid booking, this was a good show and worth going out of your way to watch. Remember to read Kaedon's SD review and his NSZ column. Until next week (Or Tomorrow if I review ECW) I am out!
