Welcome to this week's ECW review. Scheduled for tonight, Finlay taking on ECW's newest wrestler, David Hart Smith.

We start the show off with Jack Swagger sitting in the middle of the ring. He basically cries about how Christian cheated to retain at Judgment Day, and that he is still the uncrowned champion. Tiffany comes out, and after some back and forth between the two, she orders Jack to go to his office then introduces the ECW Champion, Christian. As Christian makes his way to the ring, Swagger pushes him off the entrance ramp, and Christian twists his knee.

Christian vs Paul Burchill W/Katie Lea Burchill (**1/2)

Paul goes straight for the leg. Burchill sends Christian to the outside, then whips him to the steel steps (Which Christian hits knees first). Back in the ring, Burchill locks in a Single Leg Crab, then hits a Knee Breaker followed by a Back Suplex for a two count. Paul now locks in what resembles a one leg Figure Four, but Christian manages to get to the ropes. Christian is whipped to the corner, Pual charges towards Christian but he gets out of the way, then hits a Tornado DDT. Christian follows up with a Reverse DDT, then gets a Sunset Flip (After jumping on one leg to the second rope. See, selling can make a match better) for a two count. Burchill goes for a Suplex, but Christian counters into a Killswitch attempt which also gets countered as Paul slips out and hits a Brainbuster (A crappy looking Brainbuster) for a near-fall. Paul sends Christian to the corner, charges towards him and once again misses, which leads to Christian hitting the Flip Kick, followed by a European Uppercut from the second rope, and the Killswitch for the victory.

Winner:Christian

Post-Match, Josh Matthews interviews Christian in the ring, and challenges Tommy Dreamer to an ECW title match before his (Dreamer's) contract runs out.

Match Thoughts:Burchill was made to look good despite the loss. He did a great job of working over Christian's knee, and Christian did an even better job of selling the injury. I would have liked to see Paul getting the win, to try and establish him as a possible contender for the title, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

COMMERCIAL!

Backstage, Tiffany is considering making the Dreamer-Christian match official (Which pisses off Swagger), and tells Jack to take the rest of the night off.

Zach Ryder vs Adam Green (SQUASH!)

Just a simple squash. Ryder hits a Leaping Standing Legdrop, then hits Matt Striker's old finisher (The Golden Rule or something like that) to get the win.

Winner:Zach Ryder

Match Thoughts:What can I say? This was just there to give Ryder a win. I still don't see his gimmick going anywhere.

We get a recap of The Hart Trilogy beating down Finlay last week. Backstage, DH Smith says that his father would be proud of him, since he is better than Davey Boy ever was (GASP!).

ECW Rewind of Kozlov beating THE MIGHTY Chad Collyer last week. Kozlov comes out in his M.Bison gear, and cuts his usual promo. I still don't care, the fans still don't care.

Backstage, Gregory Helms interviews Tommy Dreamer, who announces that the ECW title match between he and Christian will take place on Superstars. Dreamer vows to take advantage of the opportunity, so expect to see him lose on Thursday. :shifty:

COMMERCIAL!

David Hart Smith W/Tyson Kidd and Natalya vs Finlay (**1/2)

DH's Smith music starts off with the Hart Foundation/Bret Hart guitar riff, which already makes him awesome.

Finlay dominates this match early, until both men go outside, and Smith hits a Running Powerslam on the outside (Shades of that one British dude >_>).

COMMERCIAL!

We return and Smith has a Chinlock locked in on Finlay. DH hits a Backbreaker for a two count. Smith continues to dominate and locks in a Camel Clutch, and hits some Crossfaces. Smith goes for an Abdominal Stretch, but Finlay rams him into the corner and starts pounding away until the refs pulls him back, which leads to DH hitting a Big Boot, and throwing Finlay head first into the turnbuckle for a two count. Smith locks in the Camel Clutch once again, then switches that into a Rear Chinlock (Shades of Randy Orton!). Finlay escapes, and hits a series of Clotheslines for a two count. Finlay attempts The Celtic Cross, but his back gives out. Smith charges at Finlay, but gets hit with a Back Body Drop. Finlay dumps Smith to the outside, then throws Kidd into the guardrail. Natalya distracts Finlay, which leads to Kidd once again trying to attack Finlay (AND FAIL!). This allows Natalya to send her boot into the ring. Smith uses the boot, then hits a Saito Suplex (Though it kinda looked like a weak Backdrop Driver) for the win.

Winner: DH Smith

Match Thoughts:A very long match (Almost 20 minutes, with the commercial break) with DH Smith looking very good. The match was a bit slow during the middle portion, but that's usually the norm in WWE matches. Solid debut for Smith and The Hart Trilogy in their official ECW debut.

And that ends the show.

Overall Thoughts:As usual, a solid outing by ECW. Nothing that will blow you away, but we got two good matches (Christian vs Burchill, Finlay vs Smith), a squash to try and establish a new wrestlers (Looking at you, Ryder!), and the obligatory Kozlov appearance. They also set up an ECW title match for Superstars, all while remembering that Dreamer vowed to win the ECW belt once upon a time. It'll be interesting to see what happens at Extreme Rules with ECW, and whether we'll get yet another Swagger-Christian encounter, or perhaps a Dreamer-Swagger encounter (Lol at the thought of Tommy winning the belt on Superstars).

That's it for this week's ECW review, please remember to spay and neuter your pets... Wait, that's not it. Please remember to read Mikeraw's Judgment Day review, aswell as his RAW review.

Until next week (Maybe), I am out!

Did he actually say he's better than Davey Boy? That's a sure way to draw heat
Nice review, sounded like a good show. I may have to watch it to see the Finlay/Smith match.
Thanks for the plug, too :y:
