Welcome, to this week's ECW review. Scheduled for tonight, an appearance by the NEW ECW Champion, Christian.. and nothing else. This show was held in Madison Square Garden, and as expected, we got a good show.

The Champ speaks:

We start the show off with Christian, who calls this the greatest day of his life, due to him standing in MSG as the ECW Champion (Lol, TNA). He invites Jack Swagger to come out and do his obligatory interruption, but instead Tommy Dreamer comes out. Tommy challenges Christian for the ECW title, and he accepts. Jack Swagger FINALLY interrupts, and announces that he will have a rematch for the title at Judgment Day, and claims that no one will get a title shot until he does. Tiffany (That would be the GM), comes out and says that only she can decide who gets a title match, and makes Dreamer vs Christian official.

This was actually a strong opening segment with some good promo work by everyone involved. I have to mention this, however. They need to do something about Swagger's lisp. Maybe get him a speech therapist or something, because its just way too noticeable.

Backstage, Tyson Kidd (Who looks a lot like Charlie Brown) is getting his hair fixed by Natalya.

COMMERCIAL!!

We are back, and as Tyson Kidd makes his way to the ring, we get highlights of the Kidd-Natalya vs Finlay-Hornswoggle match from Superstars. It still sucked. Finlay makes his way to the ring, and he still has that turrble entrance music.

Finlay vs Tyson Kidd (**1/2)

This was a very good match to kick off the wrestling portion of ECW. Finlay has the advantage early on as he works Tyson Kidd's leg by locking a Single Leg-Crab. He continues working on the leg, and dodges an Enzuguiri by Kidd, then Clotheslines him out of the ring.

COMMERCIAL!!

We return and Finlay is still dominating as he hits a Seated Senton. Kidd takes Finlay down by the knee, and begins working on it by locking in a Leg Lock. Tyson hits a Kneebreaker, and Finlay limps towards the ropes. Kidd charges after Finlay but is met by a big boot, instead. Finlay misses a Knee Drop (With the knee that Kidd had been working on), but manages to get a Backslide for two. Snap Slam by Finlay gets him another two count, then he whips Tyson into the corner and hits with a Shoulder Block. Finlay attempts The Celtic Cross (FUCK THE CELTICS!), but his knee gives out. Kidd sends Finlay to the floor, and attempts a Baseball Slide, but he gets trapped by the ring apron. Natalya distracts the ref (And Finlay), which leads to Kidd grabbing the Shillelagh and using to bash Finlay's knee, and get the win.

Winner:Tyson Kidd

Good, solid match. Kidd worked over the knee for the majority of the match, and Finlay being Finlay sold it like a champ. It was also nice to see the legwork actually play into the finish. This was a big win for Kidd, who had been losing some steam after starting out undefeated.

COMMERCIAL!!

We come back and we get a visit from Vladimir Kozlov who is dressed like M.Bison (And he looked bad-ass), He says it is only a matter of time until he achieves Global Domination... How pro wrestling is a vehicle to achieve that is a mystery to everyone.

Backstage, new ECW correspondent, Gregory Helms is with Evan Bourne. Bourne is excited by the new champion, and says that he also has championship aspirations. Paul Burchill interrupts to let Evan know that they will have a match on Superstars. Helms busts out the Wassup wit dat? To end the segment.

Tommy Dreamer makes his way to the ring and it is time for our main event, but first.

COMMERCIAL!!

Christian comes out and we get the big championship introduction.

Christian vs Tommy Dreamer (ECW Title Match) (***)

Both men exchange Headlocks at the start, until Christian hits a Spinning Heel Kick for two. Christian goes for The Killswitch, but Dreamer escapes. Tommy goes for the DDT, but Christian escapes. Dreamer hits a Powerslam for two, Christian makes a bit of a comeback with some right hands, as we head to a...

COMMERCIAL!!

We are back, just as Dreamer charges into the corner and rams his shoulder into the ringpost. Christian locks in a Keylock, then hits a Single Arm-DDT for a two count. Christian goes up top and hits a Missile Dropkick for yet another near fall. Christian goes back to the Keylock, then turns it into an Arm Wrench and throws Tommy down. Christian goes up top, but Dreamer follows him and hits a Superplex for a two count. Both men are up and Christian goes right back to the arm. Dreamer is sent off the ropes, but Christian ducked too soon, got hit with a boot, and then got Clotheslined (Along with Tommy) to the outside. Both men get in the ring at the count of nine. Christian goes up top (Yet again), but Dreamer punches him in the gut, and follows that up with a Flapjack, then a Spinebuster for two. Christian attempts a Sunset Flip, but Dreamer sits down for a two count. Christian flips him over for two, Dreamer turns that into a Small Package for two. Tommy knocks Christian down with a Clothesline, and puts him in the Tree of Woe. Dreamer sets up for the Corner Dropkick, but Jack Swagger runs into the ring and attacks Tommy for the DQ.

Swagger boots Christian (Who was still in the Tree of Woe), hits Dreamer with a Belly to Belly Suplex, then hits a Doctor Bomb on Christian.

Winner:Tommy Dreamer via DQ

Great main event, and Tommy Dreamer's best singles match in quite a while. Dreamer was able to hang with the champ, and the ending made sense. No complaints here.

Overall Thoughts:A solid outing for ECW this week. I would have liked to see Bourne wrestle, but that's just a minor complaint. The opening segment was a good one as it helped set up both the ECW title match at JD, and tonight's main event. Kidd vs Finlay was entertaining, and it put Kidd back on the winning track, and the main event made Dreamer look like a legit contender for the title. It was also cool to see Tommy Dreamer main event a show in Madison Square Garden (Regardless of how you feel about the current incarnation of ECW) before his career comes to an end.

Easy thumbs up for this week's episode.

And just because I wanted to post it, here's a video of Kozlov from last night with his Bison-like attire.

Nice review, especially because haven't seen it yet. Gave me a good idea of what went on. Kozlov looks like a badass, and it's nice that they're finally giving him some kind of background. It's strange they didn't do it from the start.
Sounded like a good main event, as well.

Or just reduce the mic time for him.

Good review as usual SP. and yes, I would agree with you at this comment you mentioned above: "lol TNA" :shifty:

I wonder if Vince McMahon realizes that the Soviet Union isn't around anymore?

A Russian can pass as a bad guy without Communism as Putin is a pretty dark Bond Villain-esque character who stomps on basic human rights as if his last name was Bush, what is worse than a Godless Commie? A God fearing Bond Villain... actually I don't Vladimir fears anything... hmm just thinking out loud on a thread.
