**SPOILER** New TNA Championship

At last night's taping, TNA started a tournament for the first-ever Xplosion championship with the idea that the champion would be able to challenge any champion on Impact.

In the opening match of the tournament, Pope defeated Suicide.

Don't they already have a Feast or Fired briefcase? Whats the point of a championship that will get you a championship match? That doesn't even make sense. It's just TNA trying to convey that anything can happen on their shows. Same concept Bischoff tried for Nitro.

Exactly, and having this for a show that airs one match a week doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

That makes no sense at all and just sounds stupid. If you hold the Xplosion belt, you can challenge one of the champions? Yeah that's silly.

So you win a title to get a title shot? Please let this be a joke because it is so stupid. Winning a title shot is fine but not when you have to win another title first.

What happens when the Xplosion champion loses their title match against say the X-Division champion? Does the X-Division champion then become Xplosion champion? Does the Xplosion champion still hold the title even though they lost the match or is the belt vacated?

Just had another thought, when the Xplosion champion appears on Impact Wrestling no-one, other than international viewers that decide to watch the show, will have a clue as to what is going on. The show doesn't air in the US so the title will make no sense to the fans unless they start airing the show in the US as well.

That's an interesting point. They'd have to start plugging it on Impact soon, if not already this week.

I think this might be like the rankings system which never worked, didn't make sense and lasted for about a month.

TNA reboots things about every 5 months, I doubt this even makes it to Impact.

Probably. They can never think long term about booking ideas. They give the okay to ideas too soon rather than thinking them through logically. If they did this idea wouldn't exist.
