Besides releasing the above trailer, Namco Bandai Games also sent out an official press release about SoulCalibur V and its existence. As usual per these types of announcements, details are extremely scarce -- but there are some present.
According to Namco, the story "picks up 17 years after the events of SoulCalibur IV with new heroes and returning warriors clashing in an epic showdown between good and evil. The tale of Patroklos, son of Sophitia Alexandra, unfolds as his family's destiny intertwines with the Soul swords." In addition to the obvious confirmation of Patroklos as a playable character, Namco personnel also confirmed the inclusion of Siegfried (then again, he is yammering away in the trailer).
Gameplay-wise, the announcement also details, "exhilarating 3D fighting mechanics, breathtaking visuals, and new characters, as well as expanding the online and character creation modes." We're paying particular attention to the latter point, and have confirmed with Namco that SC4's popular custom character system will still be part of the game.
In addition to , the press release also points readers to the Twitter account for Project Soul team member Daishi Odashima, who describes himself as the game's director. He does occasionally tweet in English, and will occasionally answer direct replies/queries.

To be released sometime next year. Tekken is my fighting game of choice, but SC has always been a solid franchise. The games always look awesome, and there's tons of solid characters. Looking forward to this.
