Sony is still set on trying to bring the He-Man movie, Masters of the Universe, to the big screen and is currently looking at directors to replace Jon M. Chu, who dropped out of the project last year.

According to TheWrap's source, Mike Cahill, Chris McKay and Harald Zwart are the current frontrunners, but since nothing is finalized, other names may emerge later.

Chu was previously attached to direct, but had to drop out to prepare for G.I. Joe 3.

"It was timing," Chu told Collider. "We did so much for Masters, and the script is awesome. I love that project. I would have loved to do it. The problem with Joe is that we have a specific timeline and I need to be on that timeline. Masters wasn't ready to go, at that moment."

Terry Rossio, co-writer of The Lone Ranger, wrote the latest draft of the script, and, unless Rossio has a new take, the movie will be set entirely on the planet of Eternia.

Dolph Lundgren starred in the 1987 big screen adaptation of the same name.

I didn't know this was going on but if the movie takes place on the actual planet of Eternia like in the comics and cartoon I will be all for it plus the way cgi works now we could actually see a nice big screen take. I enjoyed the 1987 adaptation when I was 11 but havent as I have gotten older. Hope they get a decent director and the script is ok I dont want a new Conan or Clash of the Titans type of garbage film.
