Its about Soccer, and i will stress points out in this every time.

Today i will talk about "Clubs having New Stadiums"

Well as we all know, recently, clubs are trying to "upgrade" their facilities whether of having stadium expansion, building brand new stadium or renting a bigger stadium for 5 year deal or so.

This happend in several leagues and its still happening, its a phenomina that we all witnessing these days.

Its good to "upgrade" but practically, things not always get to be positive from that.

In the likes of Arsenal FC, they were having a superb run as being unbeatable in the Highbury Stadium, and they were always either 1st or 2nd in the league table in the EPL. Now after having their new stadium, i never saw them as the real Gunners as they used to be couple of years ago. Eventhough they got new and bigger sponsorship from "Emirates Airlines" but i dunno why this is happening.

Anyway, im not going to focus on Arsenal's problem as this will be a different topic.

Bayern Munich is another example, last season they got their new stadium and they lost the title with them being placed 4th?

Now, Liverpool are planing to have a new stadium, do you think that this will let them end up losing the form and consistancy like the other teams i mentioned above? Do you think that changing arena's would affect any club for 2 or 3 consecutive seasons? Why it affect their form in the first place?

It might be because the teams expect that the new stadium would bring more fans and expect too much of it. However, I think it has nothing to do with the stadium. Arsenal had a bad season because they had numerous injuries and the top 3 teams are playing better than normal. As for Bayern, the players were complacent and many players like Podolski and Lucio did not play as well as they should.

"Clubs having New Stadiums" good thread you're getting rep for that.But i pretty much agree with phantomgerald.Team performance has little to do with moving to a new stadium as long as it's filled with home supporters cheering the team.Bayern were just complacent.A lot of their players had already won a few bundesliga titles and lacked the grit and determination.Bayern were reaching the end of a cycle and needed to refresh their squad and they have done so.Arsenal played some sweet passing football at the emirates and were pretty much tough to beat at home ,they just lacked the cutting edge to capitalise fully on their ball possession,it has little to do withthe emirates stadium im itself.As for liverpool once the 68000-80000 liverpoolmaniacs chant you'll never walk alone liverpool will shift in 5th gear and pretty much layeth the smackdown on their sorry opponents if you smell what rafa is cooking !!!!!!!

You make a good point but I reckon it is just a coincidence. Stadiums don't mean anything to whether teams win or lose because the stadiums aren't in the starting 11.

The reason I think it's coincidence is because there is only 2 examples made so for all we know it could be bad tactics. I don't think Bayern are too good a team anyway and arsenal mised Henry most of last season so that is kinda an explanation but all a new stadium will mean to Liverpool is a bigger atmosphere and more money.

Dream on, Torres and Babel need time to settle and aren't at their peak yet. Maybe in five years time.

umm...its called football.

ill just say my thought here, changing stadiums DOES change your outcome of the match. seriously, the kop is a big example. but in the kop's case, its not just about anfield itself, but more about their fans . anyway, how can it have an effect? im not sure but, its more like moving to a new house, you need to have some time before you really feel like its home. also, your mindset before a match knowing that you're in the 'lucky" stadium can always have a lil effect.

Anyway back on topic. I see it as only a coincidence that new stadiums = Loss of form. The team cant possibly be affected by newer grounds or grandstands. They are professionals. But i do see Liverpool maintaining its similar position this year due to their new purchases who need to adjust. (Torres, Voronin, Babel etc..)
