Edge isn’t the first guy out of the shoot, HHH isn’t the first guy out either, its good ol JR who gets a great ovation. And theeeeeeeeeeeeen, HHH is the first out. He sucks up to the crowd and then plugs NOC. Edge interrupts him and the two get into a bit of a pissing contest. Batista’s music hits O_O and he comes to get him some. HHH tosses Edge out to Batista who spears Edge.1/2 of Evolution pose with the belts.
Kane & The Big Show vs. MVP & Mark Henry
MVP starts out quick but gets cut off with a nasty uppercut and a “basement†dropkick. In comes Show who tees off on MVP. Montell gets press slammed and quickly tags in Meezark. The big men trade blows and Show gains the advantage. Kane tags in and lights up Mark with fists of fire. Henry bullies Kane around though and MVP tags in. MVP works over Kane and then hits the big boot. Kane makes a comeback on MVP and Monty bails. Mark doesn’t like that and throws him back and Kane gets a goozle and a chokeslam ftw.
Winners: Kane/The Big Show
Match Rating: **1/2
Finlay/Hornswaggle vs. Hawkins/Ryder
Finlay starts out beating the piss out of the n00bs but a nice double team move gives the heels the advantage. Finlay gets back into it with a hard shot, a Celtic Cross, and a tadpole splash for the win.
Winners: Father and Son
Match Rating: *1/2
Matt Hardy vs. Edge (Lita on a Pole ((she likes to be on a lot of poles)) Match)
Wristlock starts out the match and Matt reverses into a hammerlock. Drop toe hold by Edge into a chancery headlock but Matt reverses back into the hammerlock. Cheap shot by Edge but it doesn’t phase Matt who hits his clothesline bulldog combo. Matt for the side effect but gets blocked, boot to the head and a Twist of Fate is blocked. Commercial time…
Back on SD and Matt Hardy is just beating the shit out of Edge. Another cheap shot gets him a momentary advantage but everything Edge throws at Matt, V1 has a counter for. Edge gets hit with an enzeguri and rolls out. Matt Hardy hits a clothesline from the apron. Back in the ring and we see a replay of Summerslam 2005 in that Edge takes the advantage just like he did in that match, dropping Matt face first in the corner. Also a la Summerslam, Edge tees off with some brutally stiff shots and even stops to pose in the exact same manner he did back then too. Edge stomps down on Matt and locks in a modified (>_>) necklock. Matt fights out of it and hits a back elbow for a 2. Rude Awakening revered into a backslide for a 2 by Matt. Side effect gets a 2 count. Matt goes for his clothesline bulldog again but gets shot off. Edge charges and gets hit with a big boot. V1 hits the OHHHHHHHHH elbow and then goes for the OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH leg drop but Edge moves. Matt stops short and goes for the TOF but Edge blocks, Matt blocks that block and hits a DDT for a 2.99999999999999. Edge goes for a spear but Matt dodges and gets a 2. Edge with a backslide using the ropes gets a 2. Matt misses the TOF and gets shot into the ref. Edge hits the spear for the 1, 2, 3. WHAT A MATCH!!
Winner: Edge
Match Rating: ***3/4
Maryse, Nattie Neidhart, and Victoria vs. Michelle McCool, Cherry, and Kelly Kelly
Ok, you did it WWE. Im now sold on the skills of your ladies. And no, I am not joking. Every one of the women in this match can go if they need to. Michelle is arguably the best in the WWE (yeah I think she rivals Mickey and Beth) Nattie and Victoria are, of course, good to great and fucking Kelly? SHE DID A SUNSET FLIP AND DIDN’T COME CLOSE TO BOTCHING! Seriously, I know all of the TNA Fanboys wont admit it, but these women are just as talented as the ones in TNA, especially considering only a handful actually get regular ring time. Oh yeah, the match. Now, I usually don’t expect much from the women but guess what these ladies did for the first time since, I think, Trish vs. Mickie, they told a story in the ring!! Yep. This was a damn good match. The heels win.
Winners: Nattie, Victoria, and Maryse
Match Rating: **3/4
Vladimir Kozlov vs. Deuce
This wasn’t his best match, but it was definitely another solid effort. He’s getting better each week.
Winner: Vlad The Impailer
Match Rating: *.99999999999999999999999 (almost 2)
Rey Mysterio says adios. Well…..adios.
Batista vs. Umaga
This was your pretty standard fare. Nothing amazing, but nothing bad in the least. Youmanga beats the living piss out of Batista for most of the match. Batista is ready to get his comeback and the win when La Familia hits the ring and destroy Batista. Before Umaga takes the big plunge, HHH makes the save and we get a Batista Bomb/Pedigree in HnR Blockheads in stereo.
Winner: Batista
Match Rating: **3/4
Shit, between the fucking awesome Hardy/Edge match, the great womens match, and the damn good main, this was a damn good SD and a great way to start off the new year after the draft. Sorry about not getting you a review last week, I had a death in the family and I didn’t want to do much of anything. But I’m back and better than ever! Till next week, don’t forget to check out SPs ECW and Raw Reviews.
