TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION (TNA) WRESTLING’S “SLAMMIVERSARY†SPECTACULAR HITS THE MEMPHIS AREA ON JUNE 8!

TNA Wrestling is proud to announce that its worldwide Pay-Per-View spectacular “Slammiversary 2008†will be held live in the Memphis area at the DeSoto County Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 8, airing exclusively on Pay-Per-View.

TNA President Dixie Carter made the “Slammiversary†announcement on the “Off The Ropes†ESPN radio show (KQPN 730 AM) in Memphis. The city of Memphis is the top-rated television market in the United States for “TNA iMPACT†on Spike TV (Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT).

“Memphis and the Mid-South know wrestling as well as anyone in the world, and we’re excited to show some of the best fans in the world that TNA has become the new king of professional wrestling action, both in the ring and with our unique fan experience,†Carter said.

“Slammiversary†will celebrate TNA’s sixth anniversary, a feat industry insiders thought impossible when the company debuted in Nashville in 2002. TNA, once labeled as a promotion that wouldn’t last more than a few months, will come to the Memphis to celebrate a worldwide promotion spanning over 110 countries in six years.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, Booker T, “The Phenomenal†AJ Styles, “The Icon†Sting, Kevin Nash, “The Instant Classic†Christian Cage, Scott Steiner, Tomko, Team 3D, Gail Kim, The Latin American Xchange, The Motor City Machineguns, Robert Roode, “Black Machismo†Jay Lethal, Awesome Kong, ODB, Curry Man, Shark Boy, Eric Young and many more will be in action in for the three-hour live event.

Slammiversary†features the exclusive “King of the Mountain†match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. In addition, the TNA X Division Championship, TNA World Tag Team Championship and TNA Knockout Women’s Championship will be on the line at “Slammiversary.â€

Tickets for “Slammiversary†will go on sale Friday, April 25, at the DeSoto County Civic Center Box Office (4560 Venture Drive, Southaven, Miss.), all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (662) 470-2131.

I for one can say that I liked last year's Slammiversary, and I think this year it could be good as well. It seems TNA will be taking its Big PPVs outside, they took Lockdown, they will take Slammiversary and rumors say BFG will finally take place in Chicago.

They said that for months leading up to last years BFG and months before Lockdown as well. So I'm not buying into any of that as of now

I really think they should try to hold Slammy in the Pyramid, I know it's not an active arena. But it'd be a hell of a place to have Slammy and it'd be a great way for The Pyramid to go out. The fueds going into Slammy look great. Hopefully they'll end up putting on a better show than last year.

I understand what you are saying. But the Pyramid arena is probably to big. It holds what 20,000 fans. And the most I have ever seen Tna feel up a building is between 6,000 to 7,000 fans!:pipe1:

Yeah, but they could try to fill the place as much as they could, and tape off the unwanted seats (11,000) seats....but that's still too many taped off seats. I can't believe Bill and Doug keep saying that WWE's towns are being taken by TNA.

Its good that they pick cities that have the most TNA fans in them, last year it was Nashville and this year Memphis. Hopefully they set another attendance record and I also hope that Samoa Joe retains his World Title, its way too early for him to lose it

Just to let you people know, this PPV isn't in Memphis, Tennessee. It's in Memphis, Mississippi. Maybe try reading the whole post next time.

^^^ LOL. TNA is only able to go to small towns. I was about to say that if they raelly went to a city as big as Memphis then it would be a great step. They better bring BFG to a big city. Detroit, or Houston or Chicago.
