Sir Patrick Stewart to Host the 71st Annual Peabody Awards

The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" star will emcee the digital media honors on May 21st.

Sir Patrick Stewart will boldly go where no actor has gone before: to the microphone as host of the Peabody Awards.

The University of Georgia announced on Wednesday that the Emmy-winning star will take charge of the digital media awards ceremony on May 21 at New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel. The recipients of the awards will be announced to the public on April 4th.

Stewart is best known for his work on the TV series and films of Star Trek: The Next Generation and his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and just finished a run playing the Bard himself in a revival run of the 1973 play Bingo at London's Young Vic theater.

The Peabodys are not new to Stewart; his Star Trek won the award in 1987, and starred last year in MacBeth, which also took the University of Georgia honor.

Last year, former CNN host Larry King hosted the ceremony. CBS' The Good Wife, TNT's Men of a Certain Age and FX's Justified were amongst the winners in 2011.
