Chael Sonnen’s rematch against Anderson Silva, for the UFC middleweight title, may not happen in hostile territory.

"O Globo" reported today that the bout will be moved to Las Vegas, and rumors indicate that the showdown will also be moved to UFC 148 on July 7th.

Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares told TATAME on Monday that the bout is already signed for June 23, in Rio de Janeiro, but his Black House partner, Jorge Guimaraes, told TATAME today that the plans could change.

“This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN’s event, Rio+20”, Guiamares said.

“(Silva vs. Sonnen’s venue and date) will be announced by Dana White in a press conference in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed yet”.

UFC president Dana White, along with Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, will host a press conference in Brazil next Tuesday.

The “Spider”, who demanded that the rematch needed to take place in Brazil, will accept to fight in Nevada?

“That you have to ask Anderson. I don’t know,” Jorge said. “First it has to be moved, than we’ll see”.

I guess this works, although the fight in a soccer stadium in Brazil would've been awesome. They'll have to switch a few fights around though to make it all work out the right way. We'll see, it's still a little while away.

The Brazil crowd would be amazing I mean just check out UFC 134 and 142. 142... Jose Aldo... mannn that was amazing. The crowd had me hyped. It was just awesome. And in that soccer stadium it would have been immense. The energy would have been absolutely crazy. The UN is screwin the UFC over :p

It just wouldn't work in Vegas. Yeah it would be good but... it just wouldn't be the same.

If it does not happen UFC could be smart and say hey. Let's just move UFC 147 to the July card. Imagine the 4th of July card featuring two top rematches. Cruz vs Faber III and Silva vs Sonnen II. Not to mention you throw two top guys in Vitor and Wandy. Talk about a stack card that people will order.

I know the July card is not on 4th of July, but most people know it as the 4th of July card which is always a big show for the UFC. Along with the Superbowl, April, and December card. So really I would do that. Especially with UFC and their ppv buys as of late. They need to do this to show. The UFC puts out the best cards that is worth the money.

Also throw in Forrest vs Tito 3
and Franklin vs Cung Le.

That would be such a great show with many different styles, and possible fight of the year candidates.

Yes the Brazil card would be cool. Think though about the business overall. If this does happen and UFC is smart to put on such a big card. With names people will recognize easily, it will get people excited. Pull in a big number and who knows it may get more people back into MMA.

When was the last time the UFC had the potential to make a card this huge? There last best card they had was UFC 139: Shogun vs Henderson.

I like the thought behind this, Easily would be one of the most anticipated cards in a long while.

The Wandy/Vitor would also be a rematch too. Just to point that out :D

Thank you Slim forgot to point that out too. I remember when they thought so long ago, when Vitor defeated Wandy.

Just think of this, if they put this card together it would easily make up for Sonnen and Silva 2 by it self. UFC needs to think that this a big business opportunity, especially in the summer. On a weekend where you can make some good BBQ and all the other factors.

Two rematches for world titles.

Two rematches, one being a rubber match. The other being a match classic fans will love.

Also a match between Cung Le and Franklin.

Not to mention Bisping is on this card facing up and coming star Boestch. Really this is a supercard I would rather see than the two cards separated on its own.

UFC have smarts though, they don't need to blow their load on a huge undercard.

They could have Jon Fitch reciting 15th century poetry for 3hrs on the undercard and it'd still sell over a million buys. Sonnen v Silva is the huge draw, biggest fight in MMA history and probably top ten in all combat sports history.

I guess they're going to make an announcement regarding the Silva vs. Sonnen rematch at the UFC 145 post fight press conference Saturday night.

Really 1,000,000 buys are you crazy? The UFC does not get 1,000,000 buys on all there ppvs. They average 550,000- 750,000. What I am saying is that MMA is just not as popular right now. People are just whatever with it, and frankly they should. UFC not giving them interesting Fox cards. Making people wonder why do I watch this shit? I am just saying give people something to talk about. Give people a card that is in their dreams. Just saying would be worth it.

The UFC forgets a lot of their fans are still casual.... a huge supercard like this will make casual fans so happy. Told two casual fans this idea and they are like. "Not going to lie would come over in a heart beat." So if two casual fans I know would not miss this card. And they hear about both these cards separately don't really care. Put them together bam people do care.

hmmmm would think about it. UFC blows their opportunity it is fine, but the card would have been great and it would have made people get back into the sport.

No doubt, and I'd love to see a card like that too, but watch the hype machine go into overload as soon as this card is properly announced.

Silva/Sonnen will draw huge, I have absolutely no doubt at all. People love grudge matches.
