I don't think that some sort of ruling is going to stop this.

If anything it could be called negligent abuse. Negligent in the fact that they neglect his present and future health.

But its really just going to boil down to feeding your kids a proper nutrition, which is never going to happen across the board. The only way we are going to see improvements is through better nutrition education, and I'm not talking about that food pyramid crap.

I totaly agree with you. The only thing kids eat are sweets, hamburgers, mexican food and the other crap. Also the parents of these kids are stupid that they let kids ruin their lifes.

Could it be considered abuse? Shoot anything could be considered abuse. But the thing is... how can you monitor such a thing?

I mean yeah the obvious way would say... look at the kid BUT... what about those kids with thyroid issues? Those kids get big no matter what is done. It isn't because of overeating but because of something medical and to punish those parents would be absurd. There are some that seem "normal" looking but are being overfed as well. So... it isn't about overeating but more about proper eating and exercise. Like is the parent just allowing the child to be watched and babysat by the TV and video games all day long or are those parents able to take the time out to spend some time with their kids, to take them outside, let them go outside, or anything of that nature.

So I don't think its really as clear cut.

I think it should its pretty bad to see an 8 year old that weights a lot more than I do, and its not his fault its his parents fault b/c they're probably fatasses themselves.

I'm of the opinion that before being able to become a parent, one should take some kind of class or get some sort of license that qualifies them for the task. The fact that ANYONE can procreate and raise a child actually scares the shit out of me.

There are plenty of people who can't even fucking drive properly. And raising a child is infinitely harder than driving.

This may be the smartest thing I've ever read. And it might even fit our over population problem.

That's pretty much the root of the issue and why you see some of these parents just feed the hell out of the kid out of ignorance rather than the parent actually being a overeater themselves. So do think in a way this could be considered abuse.

so what are the regulations round how to properly raise a child? Because trust me there is no way that there can be a general guideline to "properly raise a child" because how in the world are you going to get a general consensus on how to raise a child properly? So yeah... wouldn't even come close to ever working.

There def isn't a general way to raise your kid but there def is general common sense shit that parents should know not to do and at least need to do for their child.

If only there was a law against common sense... then the jails would be overpopulated.

I am glad that someone thinks the same way. I have been wanting this for sometime, people should have to apply to have a child and should have to prove that they can afford it and that they are actually capable of raising a child and aren't ferals.

I definitely think that in some severe cases overfeeding kids should be considered abuse. When they are young it is up to the parents to feed children a balanced diet and children should be taken away if they are so obese that it is seriously harming their health.
