Winning the WWE Women's Tag Team titles with one of her best friends was an emotional moment for Shayna Baszler.
Baszler & Ronda Rousey won the Women's Tag Team titles on Raw last Monday, defeating Raquel Rodriguez & Shotzi, Bayley & IYO SKY, and Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green in a fatal four-way match. The titles had been vacated last month due to a shoulder injury that Liv Morgan suffered.
In an interview with TMZ Sports after the title win, Baszler said it was a legitimately emotional experience for her.
"That moment at the end of the match where I crawl back in the ring, and we're hugging was a real emotional moment," Baszler said. "When we think back to trying to pay for enough food to eat throughout the week and still make weight and living on the beach in Venice. It's weird to think that we talked about it, and it's here, and it happened."
Baszler told TMZ Sports that this is an opportunity that she and Rousey had to fight for.
"I don't think people really understand how much we had to fight for this," Baszler said. "Maybe that's something for a book in the future. It's not like it's been easy. It's not like this is just handed to us. We had to fight and claw and demand for this opportunity."
Baszler and Rousey have been friends since their mixed martial arts careers. They're part of the Four Horsewomen of MMA with Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.
Rodriguez & Morgan were the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions prior to Morgan's injury.
After winning the Women's Tag Team titles, Rousey issued a call for WWE to improve its "dismally shallow" women's tag division.
