In a recent radio interview, future WWE hall of famer Shawn Michaels said that he has already given WWE his targeted date of retirement. Michaels said, "The door (on my career) is closing." Jim Ross has speculated that Wrestlemania 26 could be Michael's final match.

One of the ideas being tossed around is for Mr. Wrestlemania to face The Streak, pitting a potential HBK vs. The Undertaker match.

After wrestling, Michaels has talked about his wife opening up a business.

How awesome does that sound? only thing that would make it better is if it was takers last match too.

I hate both those ideas. First of all, Micheals is still a great wrestler, but there has been literally zero evolution in his character ever since he returned. I don't think I'm not justified in using the word boring to describe HBK at this point. That being said, I want him retired at this year's WM. And not against the Undertaker, unless 'Taker was to win of course. But then that opens the other can of worms like that would mean that Undertaker would have to stay around another year because, let's face it, he needs to drop that streak eventually. So we lose there too, because Undertaker, again can still put on a great match, but the word stale and stagnant are words that can be justifiably used to describe Undertaker.

I can't say exactly how I'd like them to work this, but certainly not like this.

HBK loves Ric Flair and wants to be like Ric Flair, so in order for that to happen HBK needs about 20 more years in that damn ring lol

If he is having a match vs The Undertaker, it should be this WM, which is in Texas, the home of both guys.
However, either way, these rumors surface every year, and one time, they will be right, and I am betting he will retire at Summerslam 2009, which will be 7 years after his return.

I don't want him to face Undertaker because he'll have to job his last match if it's against him. I'd rather it be someone else.

Yea I agree ^ Maybe a match against Triple H. I know we have seen it about 30X times before but it still would be a good match and Shawn doesn't have to lose it so Taker keeps his streak.

Maybe a match against Triple H.

For once, I slightly agree with you. It would only work if there was an emotional storyline heading into it. I would want it to be face on face too.

I really don't think HBK should retire yet. He's still pulling out the best matches on the card and managing to keep up with the young guys. As long as he doesn't stain his legacy like Flair by clinging on way too long, there's no reason for him to retire just yet. If he retires at WM 25, it won't be a 'retirement', more of a Foley and coming back every couple months for a cheap pop and match.

taker's stream should not end. ever. and hbk retiring at WM 26 seems too far away, i thought taker AND hbk are retiring this WM. thats what i want since there's no way out of their stale characters. oh and not against each other. they should work something out.

Yeah, from the start of the rumours I've been reluctant about them having a retirement angle together....

I'm still to come up with a particularly exciting alternative tho'...

Main considerations to me,

*Taker's streak shouldn't end at the hands of another veteran - The prestige would be wasted on HBK.
*Ya 'gotta' lose your final match.

So...

I say have them face off in a simple legend v legend match @ WM25; MOTN, Taker goes over, HBK still keeps the Mr WM tag. Then have them in retirement angles with other guys... One @ WM26 the other @ WM27; hopefully with Taker bowing out first.

As for who.... I just dunno.... If anything, I think NancyD'L is spot on with regard to HBK.

I'm hoping Shawn retires this year, he's still one of the best in the E and he'd be a big loss but it's his time. Best thing is for him to pass the torch to one of the young stars, who? No clue.

Don't get me started with Taker, it was his time like three years ago. He'll probably retire after a WM win or after this WM.

His retirement match = HBK vs. God Wrestlemania 25.

But in all honesty and for rightful reason he will never fully retire, like someone else mentioned, he'll keep showing up like Austin, etc.

Shawn Michaels is and probably always will be my favorite wrestler...ever. I talk about Samoa Joe in the same respect, but when it comes to the best all around wrestler there is no doubt in my mind that HBK is right up there with all the other greats. People talked about how they got emotional when Ric Flair retired because he was the man in their era, I say screw that. I'm going to get emotional when HBK retires because he's someone that I've been a fan of ever since I started watching wrestling. If I ever make it in this business, I would want to be like Shawn Michaels. I don't know who he'll wrestle his final match against, but I do know that it will be a classic. It was a long career for The Heart Break Kid, and its sad to see him go

Shawn and Taker will probably get an even bigger farewell than Flair, simply because of the fact they're both the WWE's homegrown guys.
