[yt]PJo_uVUN5Uw[/yt] good fight with bass rutten on commentary. very much worth the watch

cagepotato.com love this site said:
Early reviews of last night’s Shark Fights 13 broadcast seem mostly positive, after Trevor Prangley, Houston Alexander and Paul Daley all notched wins. Also, “broadcasters” Don Frye and Bas Rutten said a bunch of crazy stuff live on pay-per-view. Especially Frye, who -- after claiming that he threatened Shark Fights promoters with death if they didn’t put him on the show -- reportedly dropped at least one F-bomb, made jokes about beating his wife and then compared the whole thing to an extended session of violent and satisfying coitus.

Basically, it was the kind of performance that, in any other sport, would cause a major scandal, Frye's immediate firing and the issuing of a vague and halfhearted apology on Sunday morning. In independent MMA, it's just par for the course.

"That was like two hours of hard, rough sex,” Frye reportedly said to close out the PPV. “I need a shot of tequila and a cigarette now."

C’mon Don, like you weren’t doing shots of tequila the whole time.

As the reigning Shark Fights light heavyweight champion, Prangley edged Keith Jardine by split decision. If you’re interested, you can watch it here. Jardine skittered to his fifth straight loss – this time to a natural middleweight – and instead of putting himself on the fast track back to the UFC, he’s raised questions about how much longer (at 34 years old) he should push his luck with this whole fighting thing.

Jardine’s plummet aside, the fight nabbing most of the attention this morning is Alexander’s brawl with Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. The two UFC castoffs appeared to fully understand what was required of them on this broadcast, engaging in a fairly entertaining two-round slugfest that saw the Nebraskan OG bounce back from a serious beatdown in the first to claim victory.

More than anything, the fight pointed out exactly why Sokoudjou’s status as a top MMA prospect was extremely fleeting. After controlling the first round with his power strikes and a couple of nice takedowns, he looked totally spent and punch-hungry by the opening bell to the second. Whether he had gassed himself out trying to finish in the first or was hurt by two pretty blatant head butts just before the end of the round, we may never know. What we do know is that this guy has no future in the sport unless he can get his conditioning together.

Speaking of conditioning, Daley showed up overweight for his fight with Jorge Masvidal and then by all accounts turned in a fairly underwhelming performance en route to claiming the unanimous decision win. It was a W, but likely not the kind of showing that’s going to make Big DW reconsider that lifetime ban.

And hey, if Paul Daley never fights on the big stage again, that’s fine with me. I mean, we all want to suckerpunch Josh Koscheck sometimes but the fact is, you just can’t do it. Not in a civilized society. Sure, we’ll let Don Frye go on TV and prattle on about domestic violence, but there are limits.

The rest of the Shark Fights card rounded out with a number of small-time upsets, including Danillo Villefort defeating Joey Villasenor and Tarec Saffiedine beating Brock Larson, both by decision. Lastly, heavyweight Devin Cole failed to take the next step in his comeback after pleading guilty to fourth-degree assault and sexual harassment back in 2008. Cole lost to Aaron Rosa by UD. Hard to feel too broken up about that one.

on a laptop that's gay or else i'd try and find everything else. As of right now i'm just stealing everything from one site cause i'm teh ultimate lazy. If no one finds the Daley fight then i'll try but c'mon you guys give me a break.

Alexander fight was great. Soko looked pretty good but the resiliance from Houston is amazing. This was a must win and he knew it. Sad to hear that Jardine lost, he;s a fan favourite who's now lost 5 in the row. I guess he took a big knee in the first round, never fully recorved then lost in split descision. Daley won unaminous /who cares about daley.

MMAFIGHTING.COM's TOP 20 Dan Fyre Commenting moments of the night

20. To Rutten: "I know you love me, dontcha sweetheart?"

19. On Danillo Villefort: "How old is that boy?"

18. When Kruck mistakenly called Frye "Bas": "No, I'm Don. Bas is the ugly guy with no hair."

17. On Johnny Rees Rees and Paul Bradley both wearing red trunks: "I'll take the white guy in the red shorts."

16. On the staredown between Rees and Bradley: "Like a couple of tribal Vikings out there. Blond hair, blue eyes ..."

15. To Kruck and Rutten at the end of the night: "Great to be here with you ladies."

14. On referee Kerry Hatley stepping in front of the camera angle: "Get Kerry's ass out of the way and we can see the fight."

13. On the difficulty of finding an MMA fight in France: "I didn't know France was ever in a fight. ... I heard Italy just declared war on Spain, and France surrendered."

12. On Alexander after he survived a barrage from Sokoudjou in Round 1: "He's still a little wobbly on his feet, ya know? Either that or he's got good rhythm."

11. On Bradley: "He's built like a brick s**thouse, ain't he?"

10. On something we're still trying to figure out: "Skin like a mule's ass."

9. On Brock Larson's unanimous decision loss and Frye's continued theory he may have been ill: "I'd like to hear if something was wrong with him tomorrow (instead of right after the fight). You don't want the Tito Ortiz list of excuses here. No one respects that."

8. On a promo spot for a charity for U.S. troops on the ninth anniversary of 9/11: "Get out your wallets, ya cheap bastards, and give 'em some money."

7. After the fights, while straight man/babysitter Kruck was still on his way back to the broadcast table from a post-fight interview with Trevor Prangley: "That was like two hours of rough, hard sex. I need a cigarette and a tequila now."

6. On Keith Jardine's stance: "He's so awkward. He's like a rabid octopus. He looks like he's about to fall over at any time." Fortunately, Kruck didn't point out to him that an octopus, as a cold-blooded animal, cannot get rabies.

5. Obviously no stranger to viral video sensation "Double Rainbow Guy," during a particularly memorable exchange with Rutten: "Double rainbow! Triple rainbow! Double secret probation! ... No, no, no, it's gonna go into triple double overtime!" Kruck saved the day by reminding the viewers, and Frye, "There is no overtime in Shark Fights."

4. During a discussion with Rutten over their records: "I started counting fights when I'd come home drunk and knock my old lady around," to which Kruck, ever the straight-man, quickly covered for him by saying, "I bet she's got a few wins over you, too."

3. On his background as a wrestler: "Look at me: I'm a wrestler. My balls are so big, I wear the excess on my hat."

2. On cauliflower ear: "This guy's tough. His ears are like potatoes. Looks like he got stuck in the birth canal, had to beat him out with a stick."

1. On the preliminary card fights: "That was like prison sex: hard, sweaty, violent and there was a lot of noise."

In the first round Daley fought the way he usually fights, landing some good punches and kicks, and even getting creative with a kick that Shark Fights announcer Bas Rutten said was reminiscent of a Steven Seagal movie. Masvidal did manage to take Daley down, but Daley got back up without ever being in serious trouble, and he won the round.

In the second round, however, Masvidal managed to avoid Daley's strikes and secure three different takedowns, and that was probably enough to win him the second. For all the talk that Daley is an explosive puncher, through 10 minutes in the fight he hadn't done a lot of damage.

In the third Masvidal took Daley down once again, but Daley benefited from a questionable stand-up, and later in the round he got Masvidal down, finally started to land hard punches and got the judges' decision.

Afterward, Daley was his typical brash self as the fans booed him.

"They're booing but I'm getting paid a lot more than them," Daley said of the fans. "Thanks for buying tickets and paying my wages."

Daley didn't do anything that would make fans want to pay to see him again.
