The most common question I get is “when are you coming back”. Not soon enough is my usual answer. I am probably as impatient as the rest of the Carwin Army. I have decided to look at the time off like a blessing.

My entire career is shorter then some Pride Fights. I have somehow managed to contend for the UFC HW Title with less than an hour of actual fighting. On one hand that is amazing on the other it kind of scary to think I am facing seasoned veterans with limited experience. Talk about swimming with the sharks. The time off has allowed me to focus on me. Work on the fundamentals of the sport and improve. Maybe most important, to fall in love with the sport again.

One of the biggest mistakes fighters make is in preparing for fights is that we often build our camps around the current oppositions strengths. Facing a Southpaw? Find one. Facing a BJJ Blackbet? Find one. As if we can somehow transform ourselves into experts in another field while preparing for the fight. It is a rare thing when you have your trainers and the time to work on what you need. That has been me for the last few months. Working on my fundamentals. I have a ton of one on one time now with Coach Wittman, my Kickboxing is improving.

No one ever “wants” or “needs” back surgery but I did “need” the time to improve my skills. Being a good wrestler with heavy hands is only a fraction of skills needed to become a World Champion. I am certain when I come back you will see a more diverse and hungry fighter. I will not be worried about my extra pounds causing cardio problems, and I will not stumble on the way up this mountain top. You are going to see the Old Shane with new and improved skills fighting because its what I love to do.

I informed UFC Matchmaker (Joe Silva) that I would like to fight in Early Fall 2012. I would like to be able to fight every three or four months. Barring injury I intend to leave the UFC octagon and head back to the Grudge Training Center to continue the climb. I have spent my entire career dealing with injuries sustained through Football. I am 100% and I feel like a younger version of my former self. The UFC should look into adding some padding in the gloves because I plan on crushing my opponents.

See you this Fall!

-Carwin

Got this off his website, wouldn't mind seeing him main event or Co-main event the UK show they're going to be doing as it's rumored to be an FX show. Be a good way to get him back into the swing of things rather than being thrown on a PPV right away. Possible opponents, not sure yet. Maybe Carwin vs. :roy: or Lavar Johnson

Re: Shane Carwin Looking To Return This September

Carwin of old... mannnn all that means is you better not blink. cause after 2 minutes it is going to be over and his hand will be raised.

Carwin is a scary dude. I just watched his fight with Mir again and I was like... DANG. Then I watched his fight with Lesnar. I gotta find his fight with JDS again. But the guy can be lethal. cannot WAIT to see him fighting again.

Yeah he's pretty awesome, going to add a lot more depth in the HW division. The fight with JDS was insane. And Brock got lucky in that fight, they ever fight again Carwin would finish him.

Carwin would have blown Brock away.

Carwin coming back is gonna be freakin awesome. His fight with JDS was just insane. Showed how durable the guy is and that he did address his cardio.

I love Carwin. The way I see it, JDS vs. Cain is the next title fight. That much is obvious.

What I think needs to happen is Carwin needs to face Hunt or Nelson in the main or co-main event of an FX card to decide the next contender once Dos Santos defeats Velasquez (which he almost definitely will). You've got the benefit of Dos Santos' next challenger either being the very popular Shane Carwin, or having one of those two young bloods coming up into contention. At this point, the HW is in need of legitimate contenders so no matter what, it's a win/win situation. For all I care, they could even have Josh Barnett come over and take on Carwin for contendership. Now THAT would be a fight.

If its a contendership for the heavyweight... has to be a main event fight on Fox. make it that much bigger. Hunt isn't a contender... Nelson could be. But then we still have Cormier and Barnett to come over as well.

Cormier & Barnett likely wont be in the UFC until the very end of the year because of that stupid ass contract clause that says that need to fight once more in Strikeforce. Both have broken hands and Cormier atleast is out until November, no word yet on Josh.

I think Carwin is going to be involved in the main event when the UFC returns to the U.K. September 8th. :roy: would be an awesome opponent. While all of this is going down, the new season of The Ultimate Fighter will be starting up, and it will feature JDS and Velasquez as the coaches. Those are my predictions.

JDS was just a coach like two seasons ago. I don't think those two would need to do that. Just let them train and find two other guys to be coaches... IF they decide to do another season.

I like the sound of everything Carwin wrote in that article. Can't wait to see a finer tuned Carwin fighting top contenders and flattening them again. Bring him back against Nelson or Hunt. I think that Hunt has won enough big fights to face someone like Carwin, would be a great slugfest and a nice way to tune up Carwin. Nelson is another good opponent for him and it could be a good title eliminator.

Ever since 2005, Hunt's biggest and most notable win is Cheick Kongo. Carwin last fought Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, and JDS. I mean Carwin facing Hunt would be a major step down. For Hunt it would be a huge opportunity to face a guy that the champ could not finish. But for Carwin... he would be going from facing top contenders and fighters to... ya know not even a contender.

Nelson would be the best fit... the absolute best fit as he was the only other guy that JDS could not finish as well. Plus Nelson is finally back on the winning trail and is hugely talented. He'll always flounder near the contender line. Not to say that Hunt wouldn't be a challenge because he would be... but facing Nelson would help Carwin out much more as far as getting back in contention for a title fight whereas fighting Hunt would leave him pretty much with no advancement.

I understand all of the stuff about Mark Hunt, but it would be such an awesome fight. With that being said, i don't think it's going to happen. Carwin/Roy would be the best fight to make.

Fan love both fighters, and both have chins from hell.

Which chin will fall first? The awesome one of Big Country accompanied by AWESOME BEARD! Or the amazing iron chin of Carwin being held in place by the iron head?

Only time will tell.

Honestly this would be a five round slug fest. I think Carwin would get the win though. Would be cool to see :roy: shoot up the rankings in the HW division though.
